Caroline Cavanagh suggests using hindsight to calm anxiety about future events. Look back at past fears that turned out manageable, then imagine yourself in the future looking back at today's worry. It probably won't feel as bad as it does now.

We have the ability to use hindsight, to look back on the past and see things with the knowledge that you have today. So often you can look back at something that you were really, really scared about and go, do you know, it wasn't that bad after all. I want you to remember next time that that happens, and that when you're looking forward and dreading something, remind yourself— and think of that word just for a sec— remind, bring back To the front of your mind, that there will be a time when you are in front of this event too. And the chances are you'll be looking back going, yeah, it wasn't so bad after all. And if that's the case, there's really no point about worrying about it now, is there?
