Hypnotherapist Caroline Cavanagh treats Leslie, a woman whose lifelong bird phobia started when a crow landed on her pram as a baby. Under hypnosis, Leslie revisits the memory and reframes it, realizing birds fear humans more than the reverse. The next day, she sends a photo of herself surrounded by pigeons in town.

Leslie had a debilitating fear of birds. She couldn't sit outside in the summer for fear of one flying down in the search for crumbs, and in her mid-50s, that fear had been with her all of her life. Under hypnosis, she recalled a childhood memory. Her mum had pushed her outside to sleep And a great big crow had landed on the handlebar of the pram. She lay there as a helpless baby staring at that sharp beak, those beady eyes, terrified. And in that moment the link was made between birds and high risk, and that link was still as strong as ever. Hypnotherapy allows you to access previous memories and bring into it new knowledge Hindsight. She realised she was no longer that helpless baby, and actually most birds are more scared of us than we are of them. She opened her eyes and she said to me, find me a pigeon. Why is there never any pigeons around when you need one? But the next day she sent me a photo of herself in a town centre surrounded By birds. Hypnotherapy is a powerful solution for phobias, so if you are having your life hindered by one, please do get in touch.
