Stress is the word we give to a feeling. It's a chemical reaction that's going on in the body that's a response often to external factors such as someone else's behaviour, the time of year, or also sometimes our own internal thoughts or perceptions of risk. But when we feel stressed, we change our posture. We tend to drop our shoulders, lower our head, fold in on ourselves, As a way of self-protection. So if you want to change that chemical reaction and start to reduce the stress, there's one really simple thing that you can do, and that's to change your posture. It sounds simple, and actually it really is. Think about the stereotypical power pose. Stand tall, take your shoulders back, perhaps put your hands on your hips, take your legs a little bit wider apart. Because changing that physiology also changes the chemistry. And if you're really up for it, put on one of your favourite vibes and start having a bit of a boogie, because when you're dancing, you're much less likely to feel stressed, and you're much less aware of what's going on out there, but really digging what's going on in here. Give it a go.
