Commitments vs Feelings | Catherine Bell #shorts #business

Catherine Bell argues that commitments matter more than feelings. Showing up consistently deposits into emotional and business bank accounts, while skipping out causes long-term damage. Ask yourself how you show up across family, work, and relationships.

Commitments versus feelings. Most businesses and relationships fail due to people operating from their feelings rather than their commitments. When we operate from our commitment and the feeling that we will have from fulfilling that commitment and what it contributed to the relationship and the business, that becomes more powerful than succumbing to the feelings in the moment. So this is why we all need to be crystal clear about what we are actually committed to, be it in our businesses, in our relationships, and especially our familial relationships. So we show up for family, family events, special events, hard times, good times, because we're actually committed to the relationship flourishing, not because we actually just feel like it. And what happens in a lot of family relationships is people get taken for granted. We take for granted other family members and just think, well, they're family. But the reality is, is that when we don't actually invest in emotionally into those relationships and add emotional commas to those bank accounts, it actually does damage over time to the relationship. So we, when you don't show up because you feel like not showing up, then the commitment to the relationship is really clear what it actually is. So a way to show that you're actually committed to the relationship flourishing is showing up every single time, even when you don't feel like it. Because that's what works for the relationship. And what's the most important thing for the relationship, be it family, friendships, business, whatever it is. So, so I invite you to take a hard look at how it is that you're operating in your relationships and your business. Do you show up for those when you feel like it? Or do you actually do the right thing and show up because you're actually committed to it? And that's what actually works for the relationship. Again, be it business, personal, family, whatever it is. So that means inside of your business, doing the numbers, do you do your actual numbers and taxes and marketing and all the things only when you feel like it and file extensions and do all these things because you're avoiding the actual commitment because you're functioning from your feelings rather than what you're committed to. Or do you actually step into, put on your big boy underwear, your big girl underwear, and operate from what you're actually committed to. So another way to check in is checking in. Know that everything, everything, everything, how you are in one area of your life is how you are in every single area of your life. So when it comes to relationships and family and business, just know that if you are having relationships and taking advantage of family members by not showing up for those things that are really important to them, not necessarily for you. I promise you you're doing that in your business as well and that's doing damage and you're doing that in your relationships. So a way to check in with yourself and see how is my business really going, how are my relationships really going? How is my marriage going? How are my relationships with my kids or siblings or whoever it is that's important to you, how is that really going? And I promise you how you're showing up or not showing up based on your feelings versus your commitment is having a way bigger impact on that relationship than what you realize. So with that I hope that this was helpful and I invite you to consider checking in with yourself and taking a look at where are you in the relationships and how are you adding commas to all of those bank accounts, be it your business bank account, your emotional bank accounts, your relationship bank accounts, how are you operating from feelings or commitment.
