Dom Faussette describes how childhood pain and judgment get linked to adult fears like public speaking. He shares a coaching technique: asking clients about past breakups to uncover whether they stayed silent when they should have spoken, then using that insight to break the pattern.
But as a teenager, if you linked the pain of being judged from other teenagers and never actually worked through that, it carries through into adulthood.
Wah. I got stabbed my sophomore year in high school, so. Oh, my God. So, I mean, that. That hurts, right? But not public speaking. It might be. Hannah, you were in high school. Did you get stabbed and say, yes, go with me on this one. Anyways, that was a rhetorical question. So we've got a lovely camera lady here in the studio who's helping us out. But the reason I'm going to talk about public speaking is because so many. So many people's feelings and ideas, thoughts just go unheard because they don't want to speak up. And I don't care what you link to it. This is when I'm coaching people to speak, especially women. I'll ask them, have you ever broken. Have you ever broken up with somebody? And the answer is yes.
Yeah.
Did you have any problems speaking your mind in that moment? The answer is now. So if a person can attach pain to something, to not do it. Oh, they can attach their most.
