How To Make Better Decisions: Align Your Head, Heart & Gut With 3 Brains Coaching

In this short talk, Christoffel Sneijders explores why clients and employees often revert to old habits when pursuing goals and proposes a coaching framework based on the "3 brains" model. He explains that humans possess three distinct neural systems: the head brain (approximately 100,000 neurons) that handles logical reasoning and relationship considerations; the heart brain (also around 100,000 neurons) that governs bonding, social connection, and emotional valuation of relationships; and the gut brain (about 500 million neurons) whose primary purpose is survival, driving self‑preservation instincts. By helping leaders and coaches make people aware of how each brain influences decisions, they can align logical analysis, emotional priorities, and survival drives, thereby moving performance from merely good to great.
