God's Ultimate Guide To Freedom

Myron Golden argues the Bible is God's governmental constitution, not just religion. He contrasts God's kingdom (freedom, abundance, peace) with worldly systems (slavery, lack, death), teaching from Matthew 6 that seeking God first brings provision and true freedom through truth rather than money or worry.

Have you ever met somebody who seemed to know something gust I like, I'm like. I do. She rips open her purse, takes out a pad of paper, grabs a pen. What's his name of podcast? I said, it's called Bible Success Secrets. She said, oh.
And she put her pen back in her purse, and she put her notepad back in her purse. I thought. And I said, wow, that was an interesting response. What was that all about? She said, I am not a religious person. I said, oh, you're one of those people.
She said, what people? I said, you're one of those people who thinks the Bible is about religion.
The Bible is not about religion. No, the Bible is not about religion. It contains religion, but it's not about religion. What this Bible about? Well, the Bible is a book about a king, a kingdom, a royal family, and the culturalization of a foreign land called Earth. And that is the real kingdom. But see, there's a faux kingdom, a fake kingdom, a facade kingdom, and it's called the kingdom of this world.
And they have different tenets. The tenants of the kingdom of God are freedom, profits, abundance, and life. When I say life, I'm talking about eternal life. But the tenants of the kingdom of this world are wages, slavery, lack, and death.
She opens her purse, rips out the paper again, rips out her pen, says, what's this name of podcast again?
And over the next several months, we got so many downloads from Russia and over in that part of the world because she started sharing it with all these people. And every time I'd see her, she'd be more and more excited. And then one day, out of the. Out of the clear blue sky, out of the cloudy gray sky, I wonder why nobody ever says that. Anyway, one day, one day, just out of nowhere, she messes me, messages me on Facebook and says, myron, you talk a lot about being saved. I want to be saved.
And then had the opportunity to witness to her, and she received Christ and became an avid, just, just on fire follower of Christ because he wasn't misrepresented in the beginning of the conversation.
So people think that the Bible is a religious book, but it's not. The Bible is a governmental document. It is the constitution of the universe.
And everything has to abide by it, even things and people who don't believe in it.
See, what happens is.
You will either.
Yield to it and get the blessing of that.
Or you will resist it and get the stressing of that.
There is no in the middle. Well, you know what I. You know what.
I Just want to do my own thing. The problem is.
You don't have a thing.
Everybody's being influenced. You're either going to yield to God and be influenced by him, or you're going to yield to the world, the flesh and the devil, and be influenced by those enemies. And the world, the flesh and the devil do not have your best interest in mind.
I wish I had some help in here. Oh Lord. Because the reality is the world system.
Wants to confuse you.
The flesh wants you to commit suicide fast or slow, it don't care. Your flesh will not help you conquer your flesh because your flesh, my flesh, our flesh is self destructive.
Just by the very nature of the fact it's got sin in it.
And.
The devil, he wants to destroy your mind.
Because if you destroyed it, if you destroy the head, the body gonna die anyway. So I want to read something to you that Jesus told us is the priority. It says. Excuse me, it says in.
Matthew chapter number six.
It says in Matthew chapter number six. And.
Okay.
I gotta, I'm gonna go here, I'm gonna go here and just really quickly, I'm going to start with verse 21. Even though I should start further down, I'm going to start with verse 21. In fact, I'm going to start with verse 19. So.
This chapter is about, is about.
Deciding what you want your reward to be and who you desire to get it from.
That's what this chapter's about. It's like when you pray. Don't pray as the Pharisees. Standing in the streets, using a lot of words so people will think you're spiritual because they already have their reward. You want people to think you're spiritual. Well, as soon as people think you're spiritual while watching you pray for a long time now you got your reward. But when you go. The reason Jesus said go into the closet and close the door and pray in secret is because that's how it works, remember? Right. He said what my Father sees in secret, he'll reward openly. But see, what you do openly, you already got your reward, right? He said, when you give, don't give as a public display so people can think you're generous. When you give, don't even let your left hand know what your right hand's doing, let alone putting it on the 6 o' clock news, right? I'm gonna take out a Google Ad and a Facebook ad so everybody can know how much I gave. That ain't it. You missed the point.
When you fast, don't look all miserable, so everybody can know. Oh, man, they're fasting. They're really. You missed the point. You already have your reward. Now, if you can get a reward from a human being who has limited resources, or you can get reward from a guy who has unlimited resources, where you gonna go? You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. You can probably figure it out in the second, third grade, right? Okay, so.
Then he says. He says in verse 19, lay not up for yourselves treasure upon the earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do break through and steal. Here's one of the mistakes. One of the biggest problems people have who attend church and who don't attend church, who've heard sermons, who've never heard sermons, is they take verses of the Bible, they lift it out of context and attempt to create an isolated doctrine. There are no isolated doctrines in Scripture. It's all connected. So lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth means something. But it means something in connection with the verses surrounding it. It means something in connection with the other verses in the Bible. So lay not up for yourselves, treasures upon the earth means something. What does it mean? Well, it means, well, you shouldn't be rich because then you're laying up treasures for yourself. Well, I mean, that's one way to misinterpret it.
But there are others. But that's one way. See the key word in that verse? Because of everything else, the Bible says, the blessing of the Lord that maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. What does that mean? It sounds like a contradiction. It sounds like a contradiction because you're reading too fast and not paying attention. Lay not up for yourself treasures upon the earth, where moth and ruff the corrupt and thieves do break through and steal. However, the same Bible says a good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children. So the Bible didn't say, don't lay up treasure. It just said, don't lay it up for yourself.
Now, ain't the sharpest, not even the world. But if I'm going to leave something to my children, I got to put it somewhere until I give it to them. Can I get a witness? So Jesus is not telling us to be broke as a joke and ready to choke. He's saying, like, a man's life consists not of the thing, the abundance of the things that he possesseth.
If you have a nice car, great. If you have a nice house, great. If you can have a nicer one, that's fine, too. But that's not the objective. It's a byproduct. How many are tracking. Okay.
Am I even going to get to the point? That's the question.
Okay. Verse 20. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, nor where thieves do break through and steal. It's really interesting how most people have one of two perspectives. In fact, everybody does. When it comes to every situation, we have a decision to make. Am I going to sacrifice.
The long term on the altar of the short term, or am I going to sacrifice the short term on the altar of the long term? Am I going to sacrifice the eternal on the altar of the temporal, or am I going to sacrifice the temporal on the altar of the eternal? And whichever decision you make, then you have to live with that.
So you can do the thing that's easy on the front end, but I promise you it's going to be hard on the back end. And you can do the thing that's hard on the front end. And I promise you it's eventually going to get easier on the back end. You can do the thing that puts the band aid on the artery, but you're still going to bleed out.
See, because here's what happens. The scripture says, because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily. Therefore the hearts of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. And eventually.
It'S going to catch up with you. I was talking to one of my friends recently this morning, in fact, he said, yeah, eventually it's undefeated.
Right? You can put it off and it might not beat you down today, but it's gonna come, it's gonna catch you. And when it does, it's gonna put a whooping on you. And the longer you put off the decision you have to make to do the thing that you really knew you coulda woulda should have done a long time ago. The worse the whooping gon be, y' all.
Eventually stick gets bigger the longer it takes him to catch you.
Can I get a witness?
So he said, lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. Where.
Where I lost my place. Lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven. Verse 20. Where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt nor thieves do break through and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
What's that tell us? The heart follows the pocketbook.
That's why it's so important not to love the money and use the people.
Love the people and use the money. Use the money to love the people.
That's why giving is so important. That's why giving To God is important. That's why giving to other people is important. Because the heart follows the pocketbook.
And then it says, for where your treasure is, there where your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye. If therefore, the eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. How great and how great is that darkness? No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate one and love the other, or else he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon. Mammon is not money.
Mammon is the false God of prosperity.
It's interesting how many gods they have in pagan idolatry. I went to Greece, man. They got the God of everything. They got the God of the ingrown toenail, the God of the Hank. I mean, it's just. It's insane.
Nike has a twin sister, the goddess of defeat. I mean, it's crazy. It's like, what y' all doing? Y' all making gods with your hand? That can't do nothing for you. Anyway, it did. It didn't make any sense to me. But anyway, no man can serve two masters. Here's the interesting thing about a master.
A master is someone that controls you. So here's what I found out about money controlling people. Money controls some people who have a bunch of it, and it controls other people who have none.
See, I would like to be able to make my decisions in life independent of money telling me what to do.
I wish I had some help in here. See, I know what it's like to have money as a master, as a poor person.
What does that mean? No.
When you have people that you care about who are in trouble and you can't help them because the money that you don't have told you no.
Hmm. When. When my dad's brother, who I'm named after, passed away, I was broke.
I didn't have enough money to go from Jacksonville, Florida, to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to go to the funeral.
And so I couldn't support my dad in one of the most difficult times in his life because money was my master. And it told me I could not go.
Never thought about money being your master from that side, did you? But that's real. Now, there are people who have money and it controls every decision they make. And they don't let anybody get too close because they're afraid somebody might try to get some money from them. What?
Money is relative, y'. All. The more money you got, the more Relatives you got. What's up, cuz? Can I borrow some money? Sorry. Sorry.
I. I couldn't resist. I couldn't resist.
Then it says, take no thought. Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life what ye shall eat, or what you shall drink, nor for your body what you shall put on, nor for your. Is not the life more than meat and the body more than raiment. Behold the fowls of the air. They sow not, neither do they reap. What's that mean? Birds are not hustling and grinding.
They sow not, neither do they reap. Yet your Heavenly Father feedeth them. Are you not much better than they? Which of you, by taking thought. By the way, when it says take no thought, that just means don't worry about it. Don't have anxiety over it. Doesn't mean don't plan for it. It doesn't mean don't think about it. It just means don't worry about it. That word take no thought is take no anxious thought. When you look it up in its original language. You got to remember this, y'. All. All translation is commentary. So if you don't do research and word studies and you don't know what the words mean, you don't know what the word means, okay?
So which of you, by taking thought, by worrying about it, can add one cubit to a stature? How many y' all can grow 18 inches by just worrying about being short? Man, if I could have done that, I'd have done that a long time ago. What you talking about? Right.
Then why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin. And yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all of his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore if God so clothed the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe ye, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or wherewithal shall we be? Clothes. After all these things do the Gentiles seek.
They're worried about, let the people who don't know the Torah. Let the people who don't know the word. Let the people who don't know the Bible worry about basic necessities. Basic necessities for human beings who are yielded are basically automatic. And see, we act like. See, we act like.
Having a house is essential. I'm just. I'm gonna keep it real. But here's the Reality, human beings live for hundreds of years before anybody ever Bible tells anybody ever had a house.
And in fact the scripture tell us tells us having therefore food, something to eat and raiment, something to put on there with, be content. Guess what? A house is a bonus. Guess what? A car is a bonus. Pickup truck. Bonus. Refrigerator. Bonus. Stove. Bonus.
Let me ask you a question. Could you be thankful, grateful and appreciative if you just had food and clothes?
Would you feel blessed by the best?
See, here's the problem. We are so used to insane amounts of abundance.
That the poor people in this country who would be rich in any other country.
Think they're broke.
And the rich people, well, that's a whole different story.
Here's what I found out. I grew up poor and didn't even know it.
And then I got rich. It felt really, really good to be able to have a choice. Then I lost all my money and I was broke. And guess what? My arm didn't fall off.
I didn't get swallowed up by an earthquake. I didn't get struck by lightning. I didn't even have a heart attack or a stroke. I just didn't happen to have any money. And guess what? I was aight. I'm still here. It ain't as essential as they make you think it is. That's easy for you to say. It's easy for me to say. Cause I've been there, done that, got two T shirts.
You think it's easy for me to say because I have money? It's easy for me to say because, hey, I was happy when I was broke. I wasn't happy that I was broke, but I was happy when I was broke. I was full of the joy of the Lord with no money in my pocket. You know why? Because he already promised me. He got me.
Okay, Myron, you better hurry up and get to this point, son. This is all. This is all foundational introductory stuff.
Therefore, take no thought saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or wherewithal shall we put on after all these things do the Gentiles seek. Your Heavenly Father knoweth what things you have need of before you ask him. Do you realize God loves you more than you love yourself?
So if you know what you need, are you going to take care of it? Yes. If you know what you need, aren't you going to take care of it? Right. Well, guess what? If God knows what you need and he loves you more than you do, guess what he gonna do. He got you. God's like, I got you Right now, I ain't gonna give you everything you want, you know, any more than I'm gonna throw my keys to my Mercedes to my 4 year old granddaughter and say, hey, baby, in here, here's some money. Go over there to Publix and pick up a loaf of Ezekiel bread so we can eat some Ezekiel peanut butter and jelly.
You know what we need? Some more Bible characters making food. Some Ezekiel bread. And you throw a little Isaiah peanut butter on it, A little Jeremiah jelly. What? Okay, y' all pray for me. This happens in my mind all the time and sometimes it gets out of my mouth before I can stop it. Okay, so.
Here'S what he's saying. Stop wasting today's energy worrying about tomorrow's problems.
Worry is waste. The greater the worry, the greater the waste.
Worrying about things.
Happening makes them happen.
By the way, this is a biblical concept. Worrying about things happening makes them happen. Well, how's that? Because when you're worried about a thing, anxiety.
Is wasting present energy on a future outcome that's undesirable to me. So I'm wasting energy on something I don't desire to happen. And it's causing me to have a physical reaction in my body right now that's draining me of the energy to keep the thing from happening. That's why worry is waste. And the greater the worry, the greater the waste. How many? All tracking. Okay, so. So here's what it says to do instead.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. All what things? What you're gonna eat, what you're gonna drink, what you're gonna put on. The stuff that everybody else is worrying about. You don't have to worry about it because you've sought first the kingdom of God. Now here's the interesting thing about the kingdom of God. God is most. See.
We think God is most concerned with us. God is most concerned with God. How do I know that? Cause Revelation 4:11 says, for thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power. For thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are. They exist and they were created. So God created everything to please himself. Now, we don't like that because we like a God. That's man centric. Because the first religion in the history of the world in Genesis chapter three, was hedonism. Satan said, if you disobey God, then you get to be God. That same religion has been perpetuated throughout the years and it's been given different names. And so what you have is you have a bunch of people who. Who are trying to play God in the lives of a bunch of other people. And they're trying to control people. But that's never God's design.
See, God controls us from the inside, not from the outside. By putting his spirit in us, that gives us both the desire and the power to do the things that are contained in his word. So it says, seek ye first. The kingdom of God. What is the kingdom of God? If I don't know what the kingdom of God is and I'm looking for it and I find it and I don't know what it is, I'm just gonna keep on looking for it. Like the person who's looking for the keys that are in their hand.
Where are my glasses? On your face.
I've been there. What are they doing with my glasses? What I do? They own your head, bro. Okay, you say, Myron, what's your point? See, here's the problem. We haven't defined the kingdom. So how are you going to find a kingdom that you haven't defined? So I'm going to define what I believe according to scripture is the kingdom of God. Because the word kingdom is a compound word. It means king's dominion, right? So the kingdom of God is the dominion over which God reigns. So when I'm seeking the kingdom, when I'm praying, our Father, which art in heaven, what's the first thing I'm supposed to ask for thy kingdom come? Oh, I'm just praying for Jesus to come back. That is not what that means.
So what does it mean? Thy kingdom coming means I'm praying for God to rule over my life as king. God, I yield my life to you as a sovereign. You're the sovereign king of my life. You're the sovereign king of my mind. You're the sovereign king of my eyes, my ears, my hands, my feet, my life, my money, my relationships. You are in control. I am yielded to you. Are y' all tracking? Okay, that's the first thing when I'm gonna do it over here on the board when.
When I am yielded to God. See, this is God's. Y' all probably saw this out there on the wall when you came in. So God is the king. Kingdom.
Of God, okay? When I place myself under God's authority.
He makes me a king. No, I'm going to do it different. He makes me a king over an assignment.
My assignment will always be.
Under the authority that God gave me on that assignment, but my authority will always be under God's authority. So when I resist God's authority, and I say, you know what? I don't really feel like doing all that stuff God told me to do in the Bible. So I'm going to go over here and I'm gonna go over here and do this thing. That's okay. I mean, it ain't okay, but you have the ability to do that. I have the ability to do that. But see, when I remove myself from under the authority of God, I also remove myself from under the authority that God gave me. And I also remove myself from being the authority over the assignment God gave me.
Because my assignment only has to yield to me when I'm yielded to God. And if I resist yielding to God, my assignment has to resist yielding to me. Are y' all tracking? And so as long as I'm yielded to God.
As long as I'm yielded to God.
Then my assignment is in place. This is the only place I can have peace. This is the only place I can. This is the only place I can win in life. And after life, I have to be yielded to God. And you know what?
Seek ye first the kingdom of God. What is the kingdom of God? Here's what it says.
In Romans. It says, the kingdom of God is not meat and drink. What does that mean? It means it's not physical. What is it? It's righteousness. It's peace. It's joy in the Holy Ghost. That's the kingdom of God. Okay, what does that mean? Well, if I yield my life to God's righteousness, then God is ruling over my example.
Are y' all tracking? If I yield my life.
To God's peace, then God is ruling over my experience. I don't get out of sorts. Why? Because he don't get out of sorts. Y' all remember what happened in Mark, chapter four, don't you? Jesus goes to sleep on a pillow in a boat, and a storm comes, and the boat is full of water. And this trained, experienced fishermen are afraid they're going to drown. And Jesus is like.
He is calm in the midst of the storm, but he. And I love the. I love the detail of scripture. He was not just asleep. He was asleep on a pillow, which shows us that he's not just calm in the midst of the storm, but he's comfortable in the midst of the storm. And so when I know that he's calm and. And he's comfortable, I can just get right. Calm and comfortable right with him. Let's go. You ain't worried? I ain't worried.
Right so the kingdom of God coming into my life means I'm yielded to God in righteousness. He rules over my example. I'm yielded to God in peace. He rules over my experience and then joy in the Holy Ghost. I'm yielded to God in my expression, which means he rules. I mean, he rules. I'm yielded to God in joy, which means he rules over my expression. Do you realize.
Do you realize when you say, when somebody asks you how you're doing, you go, I'm blessed. It's a little hard to believe.
But you know, you've experienced it. That's why you're laughing, right? We've seen people do that. It's like, if you're happy and you know it, tell your face, right?
But the scripture says. Watch this. Now, I'd like to go into more detail, but the scripture says.
In his presence is fullness of joy. When you're walking around.
With a long face.
Looking and acting miserable, telling everybody how depressed you are, all you're doing is announcing to the world.
That you are more aware of what's going on around you than you are. If you're a follower of Christ who's living inside of you.
You'Re just saying, I'm just not aware of his presence right now. I'm more aware of other stuff.
Where's my joy? Your joy is next to Christ. And when you get next to him, it'll come back to.
So when it says, but seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. That's what it's talking about. When you are seeking the kingdom of God. Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. First thing I ask for, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Then what does it say? For thine is the glory and the power, and Thine is the kingdom. Wait. So we're going to begin with kingdom? We're going to end with kingdom? Yes. Yes. Why? Because God is a king. And if you are a man, he wants to make you a king of your thing. That's your assignment. If you are a woman, he wants to make you the queen of your scene. That's your assignment. And as long as you resist that, all you get is what you got. Why? Because you removed yourself from the environment.
Where things do what they were designed to do. Because even if you don't stand God's authority, everything else will.
So that is what it means when it says, but seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. It means the exact same thing as if you continue in my words and are my disciples indeed. And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Why? Because truth are the keys to the kingdom of heaven.
In any area of our life in which we know and are practicing the truth, in that area of our lives we are free and in any area of our lives we are not free is because we do not know or we are not practicing truth. And with that being said, I hope this blesses you beyond measure. I hope this video blesses you beyond measure. And if you feel like it, share it with somebody. And if you don't, well, do that too. All right, See you on the next video. Stay blessed.
