I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all passions live together in harmony and with equal opportunity. It is an ideal which I hope to live for, to achieve. But.
If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.
Nelson Mandela is a titan of humanity. And if you want to be a titan in business, just imagine if you have developed this compelling cause that is so much larger than your own ego, something that is so massively attractive to you as a human being that you would take a bullet for it. I want you to dial in as a leader of your life as well as a leader in your work about three I's, and this is why I call it the three I mindset. The first I I want you to practice, calibrate to world class is influence. The job of the leader is to influence other people. I mean, if you are not developing other leaders around you by your example of possibility and audacity and ingenuity, then you're not leading, you're following. The number one way to influence another human being is actually by your example. And so if you want to influence and elevate and uplift people around you, start with you start with your example. So the first I in the 3i philosophy is influence. Second I, impact. Less talk, more do. Leadership is about getting giant things done. It's not about chit chatting, it's not about death by meeting. It's not about telling your team or telling your family or your social orbit what it is you're gonna do. We don't care. No one cares what I say I'm going to do. Leadership is about a bias towards gargantuan execution. I can tell what kind of a performer, producer leader you are by the trail of results that you leave behind. And then the final I in the 3i mindset is inspiration. Every great innovation, the incandescent light bulb, the Internet, the Tesla SpaceX, every great innovation, every great piece of art, every gorgeous business that is changing a marketplace started in the mind of an inspired woman or man. They were not only incredibly inspired, they were inspirational to other people. I think the only title that really matters is cio, Chief Inspirational Officer. So no matter what you do, whether you're a teacher or firefighter, an astronaut or an entrepreneur, maybe you're a managing director, maybe your mother or father, be the cio, the chief Inspirational Officer of all, you do it.
