A short YouTube video (by Clegg) giving practical hiring advice: candidates gain an "unfair advantage" by scheduling interviews as soon as possible. The speaker, drawing on experience as a recruiter, explains that early interview slots let candidates move quickly through stages and become preferred by hiring managers, while those who schedule later fall behind.

When I was a recruiter, I realized there was something that was giving certain candidates huge advantages in the job search. And here it is. I would send them a link to schedule their interview and they could choose any open time from now until two weeks from now. Wow. Did the time that they chose matter? Some people chose a time for the next day or two. They got on the interview, the hiring manager liked them, they then moved on to the next stage. And then we were able to schedule that next stage within a few days as well. Other folks chose to schedule their interview for one and sometimes even two weeks out. So that means by the time we got to their interview, those other folks who were the quick Quincy's, we've already had several interviews with them. This put the people who scheduled several weeks later at a sincere disadvantage. The lesson here is to choose the soonest interview time. Time is of the essence. They'll start to prefer certain candidates. They'll give out the offer. Don't miss out. You've got this Wi Fi high five.
