All you need to do is remember to use this anytime you feel anxious, worried, or stressed. So that you can try it on everything. Whether you're nervous about going somewhere or meeting someone, worried about the future, have regrets in your past, are stressed because someone else did something or said something, my wish for you is that you use this to be upbeat and happy so that you enjoy your life every day in every way. Before we go on to the stress-free technique, let's have a quick look at the subjective units of distress, scale. It's important you understand this. By the way, this is otherwise known as the SUDS scale. So here they've got a score of 0 to 100, but we're going to use a 1 to 10 score. So as you can see, 10 is the highest anxiety stress that you've ever felt, and it goes down incrementally, 9, 8, 7, 6, and then you get down to say a 2 or a 1, and really that's not really bothering you at all. So you, you've got to decide where you are. So let's get started. First, you need to rate how intense your stress is on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being totally okay and 10 being as bad as it can get. You don't need to take too long doing this, just pick the first number that comes into your head. If you are at a 2 or below, then you don't need to continue with this issue. If that's the case, please choose something else that's concerning you. If it's a 10, please don't continue until you've used this sequence at least 3 times. If you're anywhere from a 5 to a 7, please continue and remember the number that you start with. You might even want to write it down so you can compare it to the number at the end. Also, if for any reason that you don't lower the number to a 2 or less, then you can always do the sequence again. The tapping points There are 12 meridian points on your body. Now don't concern yourself, as these have been scientifically validated. You won't be working with all 12 with this sequence. However, the effects you'll be feeling are profound and long-lasting. In just seconds after you've completed the sequence, you'll feel a rush of calming energy wash over you. You usually tap about 5 times on each point, but it's fine to do more. This only takes a couple of seconds on each point. In a moment, you'll see the images of where you'll be tapping on your body. You can tap with either hand. Some people like to use their dominant hand, while others use their non-dominant hand. Two of the tapping points you'll find on your hand, and they are the side of the hand that some people call the karate chop point, and there's a groove or a space between the two knuckles of your left hand, of your ring finger and your little finger. If you just move down a little bit from there, you'll feel that groove. The rest are various points on your body. So you've got under the eye, close to the nose, on the bone there, and then you've got between— under the nose, between the nose and the lip. Then if you slide your hand down your neck until you reach the bone, go down an inch or two, you'll find your collarbone. And you could be tapping with both hands, so you know, you've got fingertips of both hands you'll be tapping with. And then you've got this thing called the sore point. So you rub this in a clockwise circular motion. This is just down below the collar point that we just did. Okay, you'll feel that. It feels a little bit sore when you do it. And then there's under the, um, level with your nipple. Okay, those are all the tapping sequences or points that we'll be using in Sequence 1. So before you use Sequence 1, we recommend you familiarize yourself with the sequence That way, when you're under stress, you won't have to think, you can just act. You'll do that as we go. On this video, you'll be practicing on something that's no higher than a 7 on the Subjective Units of Distress scale. Remember, 1 is low, it doesn't bother you, and 10 is high and is causing you a considerable amount of stress. Okay, let's go. Sequence 1: When someone or something upsets you, and you feel stress, find somewhere to be alone and use this sequence. By following the simple process here, you'll be stress-free in seconds. First of all, decide how intense this emotion is on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst you could possibly feel and 1 means, eh, you're okay about the issue. You're doing this so you can rate your stress levels before and after the sequence and do it again if necessary. Important note: You must focus on your emotional upset while following this tapping sequence. So, you're going to start by tapping on the side of your hand, and you're going to do that 4 or 5 times. Next, you're going to rub in a clockwise circular motion this thing I told you about called the sore point. So you're going to be rubbing that while you're still remembering this emotion. Then you're tapping with your Middle finger between your nose and your lip. Do that for 2 seconds. And then under the eye, on the bone there, for 2 seconds. And then under the arm, level with the nipple, tap with the tip of your fingers. And then slide your hand down and tap on this collarbone with the fingertips of both hands. Find the groove between the 2 knuckles and I want you to start tapping rapidly on that groove. Close your eyes. Open your eyes. Look down to the right. Look down to the left. Roll the eyes in a complete circle. Now roll the eyes in a complete circle the other way. Hum a few notes of a familiar tune like Happy Birthday, then count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Hum the tune again and then tap under the eye on the bone there. Next, tap under the arm level with the nipple. Then With both hands and the fingertips of both hands, tap your collarbone. Now look straight ahead and keep your head level throughout this step. Next, roll your eyes downwards so you're looking at the floor. Find the groove between those two knuckles again, and I want you to tap rapidly while you're doing the following. Slowly move your eyes upwards until you're looking at at the ceiling. Okay, stop tapping. And the last step, breathe in deeply and slowly filling up your belly, and then let it out slowly. When you reach this point, ask yourself where you are now on a scale of 1 to 10. And repeat the sequence if you need to to get your score down to a 1 or a 0. So again, there's your subjective units of distress. Have a quick think of where you could be on this. If you're not down to a 4 or 3, um, you're still up at 5 or 6, then I would get your thumb and put it between your bottom lip and your chin just at the top of the chin, and your finger, your middle finger, place it on the middle of your forehead and circle around anti-clockwise. Then breathe in and breathe out, and you should feel that number going down again. So I've been using this sequence now for about 5 years, and everyone I've used it on gets down to a 2 or a 1. For the first time. Take a few moments here and notice how much better you're feeling. And as you do, I'm going to show you some images from nature, and then I'll show you what else you can use Stress Free in Seconds for. So here are your nature pictures. By the way, what you've just learned here scientists call emotional regulation, and with emotional regulation, it helps you think clearly without being hijacked by your emotions. So what if you could try on anything that bothers you? Coming up is a partial list to help you use this sequence to get back to the calmness you're feeling right now. So you might want to pick up a pen or or a pencil and a piece of paper and jot down maybe an idea or a couple of ideas on things you might want to use Sequence 1 for next. You might be a sort of person that gets triggered by coworkers at your job, so I'd write down the word triggered at work. Annoying things your spouse or partner says or does, so again, annoying spouse or partner, just as a shorthand thing there. Being startled by sudden noises or sights. If your children behave in the way you don't expect them to, maybe when you're out in public or whatever, write that down. Children. If you're watching TV, politicians annoy you, write that down. If you get annoyed by being stuck in traffic, and so let's say you can't move but you do know the sequence, you've memorized it, then you can use it whilst you're stuck in traffic. Stories in the news. Sometimes stories in the news can be quite harrowing. Most of them focus on the negative aspects of the world, so again, if that is affecting you in any way, you can use this sequence. If the way your body looks and functions upsets you, then you can use it. Just write down body. Winning or losing at games or conflicts with others. You know, sometimes even winning a game can cause your body to go into a stress reaction, believe it or not. But again, conflicts. So just write down the word conflict because that's quite a big one. Now, religious conflicts or views held by others. If somebody says something or you hear something and it upsets you, you don't feel that way, write down this: conflict of views. The stock market, your investments, and the economy. It could affect you, just write down the economy. Being able to stay calm when people around you are stressed out. So if that affects you, use the sequence. Being short of time or feeling overwhelmed. So put time down as your thing. The amount of money you have or expect to have, so put money as your shorthand. The way other people drive their cars. Now this can be quite upsetting, especially if they cut you up or something like that, so you could put cars. Your age and how your body is changing, so just write down age if this is one of the things you want to tap on. Crowds, shopping, and being too close to unknown people. So you could put crowds. Other people's opinions that clash with yours. This is a strong one again, so you might want to put down opinions. Your expectations about the way your life ought to be. So write down expectations if this is something you want to tap on. The way your parents think and what they say. The word parents you could write down. Having to wait in line or wait for something you want. So you could tap on that, waiting, so you just release that and you'll feel so much better. The enviable lifestyles of film stars and celebrities. Sometimes this can cause stress. So put film stars. People who make unwanted demands on your time and attention. So you could put unwanted as a word. The possessions you have or don't have. So if you're hankering after something, just put that word down, whatever it is. Annoying relatives you have to deal with at family gatherings. So you could put uncle, aunt, or whatever that word is for you that you want to tap on. And random mishaps. Of daily life. You know, something goes wrong, something unexpected, so you could write down "misaps." Getting or not getting promotions, rewards, or things you want, so put "not getting" as your shortcut. And anything else that routinely annoys you, you can use this on. Imagine being able to brush these things off in an instant and get on with enjoying your life. Well, now you can. In the next video, I'll walk you through just the stress-free sequence so you can use it whenever you need to. And remember, once you've used it a few times, it only takes seconds. So when you're ready to get rid of more stress, worry, and anxiety, go to the next video.
