day 1 confidence challenge

John Cordero's first confidence challenge asks you to approach five strangers in public and give a genuine compliment or ask for directions, then leave. The goal is to get comfortable initiating contact with people you don't know, building the habit of approaching before you try dating or making friends.

Hey, welcome to the Day 1 Confidence Challenge. This challenge is meant to open you up and to make sure that you really get into putting yourself out there in a good way, because that's what's going to help move the needle. So the first thing is talking to 5 people that you don't know. That could be anybody at a grocery store, a park, a mall if you're by a mall, anything that has a lot of people in a public area that you can do this. This is good. This could even be like coworkers that you don't talk to. It's just anybody that you haven't had any conversations prior to. Okay. This is a good one because it gets you out of your comfort zone, which is what we want. Because it's— that's what it's going to take, guys, to talk to women on a regular basis, whether you know them really well or not. This is going to help you with that, okay? The point of this is to say hi really quick and then bye, okay? We're not trying to have a conversation. This is just to get the feet wet, get the ball rolling. And I'm going to give you guys examples. So the first example I have is Hey, I just wanted to say real quick, I like your hair. Have a nice day. Or, hey, I just wanted to say real quick, I really like your shirt. Have a nice day. And then I leave. That's it. You could do that with shirt, nails, shoes, hairstyle, uh, anything that you can genuinely give. If it could be a really like genuine compliment, like you actually did find it impressive, or you said like that's more one of the more nice things that they have or that you've noticed, then By all means, I always love genuine stuff. But if you have to make up something too, that's fine because the point of this is to just get out there. Okay. I want you guys to be real and genuine as you go through, but some of you guys are so nervous that you guys just need a line or something to get you going. And that's okay. That's how we all start. That's how I started. You can always ask for directions too. So, hey, do you know where the nearest Starbucks is? Okay. If you have a Starbucks by you. Or a McDonald's if you have a McDonald's by you, anything like that. I don't want to make it too American focused because some of you guys don't have other stuff in other countries, but just you name it. You know, if there's a train station, if there's anything, an amusement park, anything like that that you know that's kind of by the area that a local would know, and you just ask them and they might not know, they might not, but that brings up the conversations. Okay. Thank you for that. And then you could just leave. Okay, um, again, short, sweet. The whole point is to get used to the idea of talking to people that you normally don't talk to, because you can use this skill eventually to make new friends and to go on dates with girls that you normally would never go on dates with outside of your social circle, because we don't want to just be limited to just that. Okay, that's all I have for this video. I'll see you guys in the next.
