Welcome to another another episode of the Money Sign your Problem podcast. This past week I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw an offer by one of the coaches I really like, Don Miller. And although I wasn't looking for adding another certification to my coaching business right now, I wanted the PDF that he had offered if you would book a session with his coach. Of course that was a call so they could coach you and then sell the program. Well, I didn't care. I knew I just wanted the PDF. So I scheduled the call and I got to meet with this coach. So unfortunately I missed a few minutes in the beginning I didn't have set up on my calendar. So then he sent me a message and said are you still going to come to the call? And I thought sure, if you have time, I'm so sorry I'm late and whatever. So when I got into the call, of course he started asking me questions about my business and asked questions about if I had heard about the certification or if I had heard about Don Miller and all these connections, trying to figure out where I coming from and trying to figure out if I was a good prospect for this new coaching certification. So when I told him that I had my business goals and I already knew part of the program, I used the one of the tools that they're offering for the certification to be as your coaching your mainly coaching tool to work with people. I he asked me what was my goal for my business. So I share with him two of my biggest goals for my business. I was introduced to this idea of impossible goals by Bruca Steele a long time ago, my teacher and life coach. And she talked about as an impossible goal is not just a goal that's not going to happen, it's a goal that you keep working at it until it becomes possible, right? But you keep working at it. You don't give up. So that's my idea of impossible goal. It's not something that I'm not going to reach. And when I mention my goals, I think he actually wanted to laugh at me or he even gasped when I said my goals. And it was like it was very incredulous that I could even achieve my goal. So I was okay with that. He doesn't have to believe in my Goal, it's fine. It's my goal. And if he has doubts that I can reach it, of course he doesn't know me because I'm going to reach my goals anyway. I thought it was funny because then right after I said that, and he's like, well, those are pretty big goals. And he kind of just gave a random of the. Of the offer. Didn't even try to sell me the offer, probably thinking that I wasn't going to have money to pay for the certification or anything like that, or that I was delusional. So then right away he ended the call and just kind of, hey, let me know if you want to schedule another call. And I'm like, how about that PDF that was offered? And then I got the PDF, that's all I wanted anyway. But I thought it was really funny that he questioned my goal. You see, our goals are ours, and those are completely random. You decide on that goal, you pick that number. Sure. You see everybody losing 10 pounds, you're like, okay, I'm going to lose 10 pounds. I'll. So could it be seven? Yeah, it could be seven. But you have to decide. You decide those points. You design those metrics. And the interesting thing about goals is that how you see when you get to that timeline that again, you decided on a timeline, nobody forced you to have a timeline. When you get to the timeline and you haven't reached that goal, There's a difference between how you see that. If you see as a failure, and failure means that you're a person that cannot reach your goals, you get super disappointed. Then I can see you having a goal, not wanting to make any more goals. And that might be you today or at the end of this year as we get to another end of the year, and you might not have reached your financial goals or you had a super huge goal that you wanted to achieve, a certain amount of debt that you wanted to pay, or a certain amount of money that you wanted to save to go on vacation, or you just wanted to be able not to stay paycheck to paycheck, all those goals. If you look where you got so far and you see as a failure that you are a failure, of course those goals are just going to make you feel worse. But if you look at a failure as just part of the process, and that's my mindset, I don't see as something that is forever or that it defines me. I see a failure as just part of the process. And so I won't get disappointed. Of course I will be disappointed. But I won't be lingering in disappointment and waddling and just lingering disappointment. I'm not going to do that. So I may allow me a day of feeling really down and disappointed. But then the next day I'm going to get up and keep working towards my goal. And again the timeline, we decide that and if think that it's not fast enough, I'm not getting there fast enough, it's taking too long. All these things are for you to learn patience and for you, what's the rush? Who is rushing you? Of course, if you're in bankruptcy or if you have to gather some money to pay off something before they repo your car or something like that, of course you're going to feel a little rushed and you're going to feel. But from that, from feeling rushed, you're not going to get make any progress any faster. Actually it's the other way around. So if you're feeling okay, I got a plan, I'm going to do everything that I can. And then you, you have to put your faith in it. If you do all you can, if you analyze your situation, determine that you're going to do certain things, you make a little plan and you work the plan, then miracles can happen for you. We know that the Lord can do anything. He actually can do impossible math in our lives. This concept of impossible math is I. This past week I watched a BYU devotional with the producer from actually the creator from the Chosen and right now he's living the success. He has a very successful program. He has multi languages, it's all over the world. He got lots of awards for it, but it wasn't always like that. I'm going to share with you the story that he told to the BYU students. I think it was in 2023. I will link in the show notes so you can watch it. I love that it was such a great talk. And he explained all the behind the scenes how he got to the chosen. In the talk, Dallas shared a deeply personal story about the biggest failure of his career. Pouring ears into a Hollywood backed movie. It bombed big time. You know how movies have to do a killing right at the opening weekend otherwise you can tell that it's not going to do well. And just two hours after he released on the movie theater, his career seemed over. He felt crushed, questioning everything he thought he understood about God's direction and his calling. In the midst of his despair, Dallas and his wife Amanda turned to God. Amanda felt prompt to read the story of the feeding of the 5,000 as they reflected on this miracle, they realized something profound. God didn't ask the disciples to perform the miracle. He simply asked them to provide what they five loaves of bread and two fish. Soon after, Dallas received an expected message from a friend who had no idea what he was going through. It's not your job to feed the 5,000. It's only to provide the loaves and fish. That moment transformed Dallas. He let go of the pressure to produce success on his own and surrender his efforts to God, trusting that even his smallest, most humble offerings could be multiplied by divine grace. When his wife had heard about just bring the five loaves of bread and fishes, just like his friend had, she actually heard that the Lord does impossible math and they didn't know what that meant. This experience and lesson led to the creation of the Chosen, now one of the most successful crowdfunded projects in history. Through the impossibility of human math, God performed his miracle, showing our role is to participate, not to bear the entire burden of outcomes. So what are your loaves and fish that you can offer in your pursuit of your financial goal now? Listening to Dallas, I was struck by how much his experience mirror what I see in my clients and myself. We set these impossible goals not because we're sure we'll achieve them, but because they stretch us, help us grow, and bring us closer to our potential. So if you set your goal just like we talked before, this is going to get you closer and closer. At least if you fail, you will know exactly what not to do the next time. I remember that I attended that class starting a business at the church and we talked about different things and one of the guest speakers came and told you need to fail fast. So sometimes they would get together, he would get together with his team and his team had all these bunch of ideas and they knew that some ideas were not good, but some others they were kind of pushing. So then he would pick an idea that wasn't the one that they thought was the best and they tested right away and usually would fail really fast. They knew that that was not the solution so that they try different ones until they found the right one. In Dallas case, he kept on going, he kept producing, he kept creating, he kept trying different alternatives. And this was the perfect experience for him to develop that trust in God and seeing that his efforts were more important than just getting to the final destination. Sometimes I hear that a lot. When a person has a lot of debt, they want to get rid of the debt and they have something big to sell or they decided to sell the house. If they sell the house, let's say they have a big equity and then they can pay off the debt right away. Well, it's a good thing to pay off the debt, but when you do those major things, what happens is you don't learn the skills that you need to stay out of debt. In this case, because you skipped the journey. All you did was to get a big pile of money and pay that off. You did not learn how to manage your money well, how to deal with the frustration when you want to do something and then you just give in and you end up spending more. Those are development in our character that those are really important. And sometimes we take it for granted and we just want the solution right there. It's always the consistent steps that we take and the trust we place in the process, believing that God's gonna magnify and do his impossible math for us. Now, as the year draws to a close, it's natural to feel disappointed if you didn't achieve all your goals. Maybe your financial goals, your career milestones, or even personal aspirations didn't pan out the way you planned. But this is the perfect time to do what I call review, refle and reset. Okay, didn't work. We didn't reach that goal. We're not staying low. We're going to pick ourselves up and continue going. So this process of review, reflect and reset is a good way for you to look back part of your goal or where you've been working on this year. You can think about it. What are the things that did well? What are the things that did not go well? What is your part in all of this? Is there something that you could have done differently? What are the lessons that you got? And then you reset. So let's reset another go, let's pick another goal. If you have to extend the timeline or if you have, well, extend the deadline, or if you have to switch a few things because maybe that goal is not important to you anymore, or how can you make that goal to be more fun, more enjoyable? Because sometimes when we set up something that's so strict, we don't like it. So then of course we're not gonna do it. As I've reflect on Dallas experience, I thought about Brucha Steele's teachings on Satisfaction. It was just this last episode. She talked about it and she gives three ideas that three concepts that she normally teaches, but she puts them all together for satisfaction. One of the things, and I really like this, and I've been doing this for years, is deciding again Each year you look at the things that you want and the things that you have, right? So you're going to make that list. And every year you decide again what you want, who you want to be, the life you want to live. And you don't let the past decisions or failures to dictate your future. And so the second concept which comes along with this is deciding what you want to have. When you make that list and you write down everything that you want, make sure to write down the things that you already have. That's when the redeciding comes. You're going to look at that list and you're going to decide if you want what you have already. If you wake up today, would you have the same house? Would you have the same job? Would you have the same. Would you be married? Would you stay married? Would you want to stay single? And you look at all these things and sometimes for you to achieve your next level, for you to achieve achieve the goal, you're gonna realize that sometimes maybe the places you've been going, they are not good for you or the people you surround yourself, maybe you should let go of that one friendship. Maybe it has already completed its course and ended the cycle, right? So redeciding what you have again, it brings you commitment to what you have in your life and it makes you decide your life on purpose. You're not just having things or whatever you have right now just because they're there, because you really decide that you want them. It's intentional. You made that decision. Decision on purpose. And then the third one, the concept that Brooke Castillo talks about is cultivating impossible goals. Here they are again. Set goals that excite and stretch you. Bondo. Use them to beat yourself up. Sometimes you get the big goal, we talked about it, and you don't reach it and you just feel disappointed. That's not the point of the goal. Let your goals energize and inspire you, knowing that even in the pursuit, you're becoming a better version of yourself. So these three concepts that she talks about, they create a foundation for a deep, lasting satisfaction regardless of whether or not you hit every goal you set. So how does all of this apply to your money goals for the upcoming year? Start by deciding again, what do you really want for your financial life? Be honest about what you have and want and what you don't want anymore. Then set the impossible goal, even if they seem unattainable. Remember Dallas story, It's not your job to feed the 5,000. It's only to provide your loaves and fish. To make it easier for you to do this process, I have created two tools for you. One is for you to do your review, reflect and reset. And the second one is for you to read the site, use it to redefine what you want, reflect on what you already have, reset your goals and decide things on purpose. What do you really want for this upcoming year and is this taking you to your bigger goal with a heart full of faith and possibility, believing that you can achieve those things? Remember, bring your loaves and your fish and God's going to do some impossible math in your life.
Life.
It doesn't have to be just at the end of the year that you do this exercises pick whenever you feel like it. You can do this quarterly. You can do this every six months. You decide. It doesn't have a specific date for you to do this. So what is the impossible goal that you want for 2025? What are you looking forward to in the next 90 days? 60 days? 6 months? Create your goals using these tools and you're going to be able to continue growing and developing and becoming the better version of you. Thank you for listening. Remember, money is not your problem. Ata brevi yo brigada.
