[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Hey, everybody, this is Madeline from Strasbourg coaching, and you are listening to the money is not your problem podcast. I use what I love most, my LDS fave, the common sense of Dave Ramsey's baby steps and Bruh Steel's life coaching tools to help you identify and manage the real issues behind your financial problems. Hey there, everybody. Thanks for tuning in. This week we have a special interview with my friend Shayla, and welcome to the money is not your problem podcast. Shayla, how's it going? Tell our audience a little bit about yourself and how we met and all the good things.
Okay. Hi, my name is Shayla and I met Madeleine a few years ago. Although I'm just 21 years old, it's been about 21 years that we met.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: 21 in each leg.
And then we met at. When I got a job at a restaurant and Madeleine was there already working at this restaurant. And it was a very good experience and it was a very good friendship that we start from the day that we met.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: That is true. And tell us a little bit about where you grew up and how was your life growing up.
Okay. So I'm from Brazil, and I grew up in a city called Belo Horizonte, which is a place. We have very good food. And I'm from a very big family. It's like, I know in the US it's not very big, especially for Utah, but for Brazil, we are 6k kids. 6 kids in Brazil because of financial problems that the country has since forever. It is a lot of people for one family. So we were in the family, the six kids, my parents, and my grandmother, who was a widow at the time. She was a widow and she was really depressed, living by herself on her house. So my mother decided to bring her over and. And she used to be. So I remember my grandmother, she was part of my family because I was very little. So I thought everybody had the grandmother in the house. That's what I thought was like, your grandmother doesn't live with you? Oh, you go and visit. He's very interesting. And that's where I came from, a big family.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Excellent. So let's talk a little bit about your financial journey and how that develops. So looking back, how did your family look at money?
Okay, my father, he is. He's a physician, and he had five jobs. And he looked at money like something that's not easy to earn, but it's very easy to spend. So he taught us that, like, if you're going to earn that money, you got to sweat for that. And then if you want to spend that money. Don't spend my money. So he taught us that since. Since we were kids. And my mother had a very important part of that because she was at home when we were growing up, because of the six kids that she had to take care. And she was very good in helping. Yeah. Managing the house with the, like the grocery. How much she would spend with the grocery because she, even though she was not earning that money, it was my father, they were a couple, so they were a team. So she would be very. So. So I remember since we were kids, she would go to the grocery and she's. And we would ask. Yeah. And then Kahu was the name a big grocery store in Brazil. And then we would go and if we would ask something extra, like ice cream or a chocolate bar, she was like, no, no, today the grocery is about what we're going to have for the month. And then I remember her, she's.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: She had a list.
She had a list. Yes, the big list for the. All the kids. And we always had pets in the house. So for the pets as well. And then she would follow. She would be strict to the list. And then for the meat, she would go to the, the butcher store and then she would buy it. And then. Yes, the aog. And then she'll buy it. And then she would like ask the aog, the butcher guy say, okay, so you're going to divide that £4 here, £5 there, this here, this there. So it would be very organized. She would come home, she would divide it again. We had to buy a freezer, which is not. It was not very common in Brazil, somebody having the fridge plaza freezer. We would have that freezer. So you put the, the meat for the month over there. And she would divide for the meals throughout the week or throughout the whole month. And can I tell you a funny story?
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Sure.
Even what we would eat, you would have to be managed. And I remember we would have the missionaries come over for the big family. Can you imagine? Six people plus the mother, plus the parents. And we would have somebody who would be working the house through during the day. So she would eat with us, plus the missionaries. And then my mother was like, okay, today we're going to have the little beef steaks. Or is that. How would you say? Yeah, so we're going to have rice, beans, and then the beef steaks. Okay, so how many people are we? So nine in the family, plus the. The girl working the house. So 10 people plus two missionaries. Okay, so 10 people needs to eat the meat. Okay. So we're going to cut two for each. And I remember one day we could do 23, so there was three extra, right? And then I had my brother. He always was a very good eater. Very skinny boy, eats really well and always good food. Don't give him like chips. He needed the rice, beans, he needed food. So my mother, she would always tell us, this is how much you can eat. Of course, she never made us hungry at all, but this is how much you can eat. So we can share enough for everybody and the food will be done and no fights between the siblings. And then those 23 beef steaks on the table. So the missionary is very shy. Young boys, they ate one. My mother says, oh, you can have a second one. Okay. So they had the second one. And then my brother with big eyes looking like, okay, I hope they don't ask for any more beef steaks. And then my brother ate the two that he was supposed to. And he comes and say, mom, can I have a third one? Since there is a little bit of lead over over there. And so he could have that third one. So this is how my family was managed. Like cookies. Okay, we're gonna have cookies. We would have the cookies come in the.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: In the package, in the package.
And then, okay, we're going to share. So two for you, two for you, two for you. So everything in the house was like that. And I remember going to friend's house, which was just one kid or two kids, and then they would open the cookie package and they would have as many as they want. And that was for me was like, man, this is not a house. And I think that since I was growing like that, managing, because of money wise, we had to manage how much of things we would have. Food, clothes, toys. And then that taught me until today that money is very important.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And. But you gotta manage it, right?
Yeah, I guess manage very well.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Another great story about the third steak, right? You can never know. Yeah.
And then I remember he had the third steak and I really wanted. But I was like, no, let him have it, because she was saving the other two for somebody else. And my mother always would give food for somebody else.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah, that was important, right? It's how to show some love, right. So what other examples your parents did with money that kind of stuck with you?
So they taught us from very beginning that we would have to work for the money if. For the money if you wanted to get something for us. So if I wanted a toy, I would have to work for that money to buy that toy. So from day one, I learned how important was to earn that money. And when I would go to the store to buy the toy, I'll be like, man, that toy is not very cheap. It's kind of expensive. And I spend like a few hours, like cleaning the bathroom or sweeping the floor or washing the dishes. And was a few hours, and then in one second I'll be paying for that doll. Is that very important for me?
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Is that worth it? All my.
Is it worth it? And then I remember a lot of times I would give up. I'm like, not very worth it. So let me choose something else or let me save more money for something even better that I'm not going to be regretting if I get the doll and then I'll get home like, oh, man, that doll is not even very beautiful. I don't like the face. Or so I remember giving up a.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Lot of times because you, you saw how much you had to work for that. How about some ice cream stories? I heard that you love ice cream.
Yes. And then I remember I always like to save my money. My brother, he always liked to go to the bakery store. It was one block down. So we would walk down the hill. And then. Because where I'm from, it's always hills up and down. So we will walk down the hills and we would get like chips or things like that. Everything, all the money, I was like, I'm not spending my money. So I would always save the money. And I love ice cream. And close to the chapel that I. I belong in Brazil that would. I would go every Sunday and actually.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Saturdays and when they have activities.
Activities every time. Like old times time. We used to have activities every Saturdays and Sundays. And I remember going to church Sunday evenings and playing around.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And even during the week, right. There was always some kind of festival or something that you're preparing for.
Yeah, exactly. And then there was this ice cream shop one block away and they had like a very good ice cream over there. And then I would. Instead of taking the bus to go to church, I would walk so. So I can save the money to buy the ice cream instead of like paying the bus. I was like, no way. I'll walk because I can walk. So I would leave the house a little bit earlier and then get the ice cream, go to the chapel.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Oh, that was fun.
I love ice cream. I gotta have ice until today. I love ice cream.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: That's funny. So was there. So did those, those experience that you have, how do they affect the way you develop your. Your money Understanding?
Okay. It develops me that I know the importance of earning the money and spending the money.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: So working.
Yeah. So until today, I'm not gonna go and say, you know what? I just like, you know, when you, you get the money, your payment, your check for the week and then, oh, okay, so I just got the check. Let's do something. Let's buy a shirt. Well, let's go to the restaurant. I gotta, I gotta continue saving my money to have a little bit extra to spend on something very important when the time comes.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right. You don't, you're not like that. It's gonna burn in your hands. Right. You have to spend on.
No, not at all. I learned that if I, if it burns in my hand and I spend it, I'll never have money.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: That is true. Right. A lot of times we have this, understand that we want to have money. But then a lot of times people just want to have stuff instead of having the money and we kind of open ourselves up that we want to, if we want to have wealth, we want to. Want to save our money to have money, not to have a bunch of stuff that is not worth the money.
Yeah. I always have to tell my husband because he spends a lot of time in hotel rooms and Amazon. It's addicting. And that buy button, it's very easy to talk to.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right, right.
Then I always have to tell him like, don't for that week because he burns money easily in Diana. I don't know how he grew up with money, but I think the way he grew up, the. What he tells me is that his parents never taught anything about money and he had to learn all by his own. And then he didn't have to work anything before he's 18 and he didn't have to do any chores in the house, so. And everything okay, so I want a pizza. When he was 14, I want a pizza because I have friends over. And he, the. The parents will be like, okay, let's call the pizza place and ask them to deliver a pizza.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Were they just two of them?
Just two kids? Yes. And then like normal sized family. So the parents were not very rich, but have enough money to do that. And then in my house was totally different because of that. When I met him, he would spend a lot of money. He likes cars. He would spend a lot of money with cars, with parts of the cars.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And fixing cars and fixing cars.
He enjoyed that. And then I was like, where's my money? And then we would lose a job and he would be like, okay, now I have to Be with my parents. I was like. Because he was. The parents live in a different city, so he would have to go back to his parents. I was like, what the heck? You should be saving money because you're a pilot. You make enough money to be saving money instead of spending that much money on things that are not very important. And it's not going to bring anything for your future. Right. Then he learned a lot and still learning and gets. Needs to get better. So.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right.
I remember the other week, he was gone for almost a month, and a box would come into the house every day from Amazon. One box one day, one box the other day. Sometimes heavy box because it was a car part. And he's like, oh, because I need to fix that. No, no, you don't. You don't need to fix that today. You're not even here in the car. So I told him, you're going to be without going to Amazon for 30 days. And he realized how much money he saved.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah.
That month I was like, see? And did you need anything? Nothing was very important that was missing in his life.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah, that is true. And it's very interesting. Right. You see that the effect was right. Right there. Yeah.
And I was also mad because I was the one carrying the box inside the house. So I was like, okay, one more box comes, I'll leave the box in the. The sidewalk. Okay. So I don't know if he. If that was because of that or because he. He listened to what I said. It doesn't matter to me.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: No, he did what he asked. So was there a specific event or defining experience that helped you in your financial journey?
Like my father, I think he helped me a lot because he had a lot of jobs to make money. So he could give us a good house, good school and places to go. And we would go one trip a year to a place so he had to work a lot. And he was very interested in how he could have even more money, but he was not very good at that. But I remember when I went growing up, I was growing up, and then I would read things because he made me read things, and then I would read things about money. How to make a little bit more money or how to spend less money. What is important, what is not importantly.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right.
Yeah. What. What do I need for my future? And I'm not going to be working forever, so I need to have something, some money for my. My when I get old. And he made. Because of him not being very good at that. Made me get better at that.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right. You saw that was something important. Right. He was a good example. So that's great because, you know, we have those people in our lives that help us shape the way we see different things. Is that even as either. As a counter example. As an example. Right. So you could see different things. You went through a difficult time in your, your youth when your parents had some trouble there. How did that affect you?
Okay, so when I was about. I was about 13 years old, I think my parents got divorced and my life changed like dramatically because we would have a club that we would go to and I would do ballet classes. And then I would go to a private school, which is very common in Brazil. And because public school is not very good to go to, so we would go to private schools. And then we, we had a very good life. And then he left the house. And then because he left the house, he stopped with all of those things. So I have to go to a public school and then no more ballet, no more clubs, the friends that I had in some places. And then from that day I went to a very bad school. And that school is not going to be good at that year. It's very hard to understand being outside of the country. But I had to made a decision because I knew if I would go to that public school, it would bring me. It would take me to a. Through a path that it was probably going to. I would probably be going to have a very different life and a bad one. But. So I decided that year I wouldn't go to school. My mother was out of shape. She was like. She couldn't help us emotionally or anything. So I had to make that decision by myself. And I, I was very immature. I was, I was very immature until I was like 18 years old or 19. And then I was like, I don't know if I'm making the right decision, but I don't want to go through that because I don't know how to deal with that and I don't know how to defend myself if it goes really bad. So I stopped. And then I start working. And when I start working, earning my money, that's when a dream came to my mind that I want to do in experience student thing in the US so I could learn English and in my future get a better job. Because if you know English, you get better jobs in, in Brazil. So I wanted to do an exchange student for a year or two. I have an aunt who lives in the US so I had a place to stay. So I. The only money that I had to get is to pay the public school because they charge for international students and for my ticket. And I saved all that money until the government of Brazil took all the money. Not from me, but from everybody. Everybody.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Whoever had money in the savings account.
Yeah, in the savings account. They got the money. So whoever had the money in something else, like in a car or something, they were kind of lucky. Whoever had the money in the bank, Gone. They're gone.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Our family had. When that situation happened, it was. It was God, that helped my mom to just kind of push my dad, hey, we need to. Let's buy this. This apartment at the beach. And they. They got out of time just in time when they did that. So we didn't get affected by that. We end up with an apartment at the beach. But it was. It was dramatic for the entire country. It was.
It was.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: It was very different.
And we. We know a lot of bad stories, right?
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: So that was a very traumatic thing that happened because it took away all your savings that you're planning to do something. So how did that. That event impact your. Your financial development?
Okay, so I have to come up with a new plan. I was like, should I give up my plan? Should I not give up my plan? So I decided not to. I still wanted to go, and I still wanted to learn English, and I couldn't go to an English school. My parents were divorced and my father wouldn't pay, and we don't have English classes in school. They're. They're enough to learn any. And then we. At that. We didn't have any books or anything that was good enough for me to learn. So I was like, you know, I am going. I need to go and I need to learn English. So I. I changed my whole plan. I kept working. And instead of putting the money in the bank because I didn't. I was afraid of the government. I kept the money with myself because since I was underage and I would get my payments in cash, which was kind of easy. And I remember with the savings we had the interest. So I would. My money would increase without the savings. I would have my money save with me, no interest.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: But I just had to work more.
Yeah, I had to work a little bit more. So I plan. I was getting older, and then I could work a little bit more. So and that's how it was. I was. I was getting smarter, how to make a little bit more money. And that was something very important since the day one that I stopped working.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right. And. And eventually went back to school and finished.
Yeah. And then A year later, I went back to school and I. I went to a different class and things were a little. It was not easy and because the school was really bad, but it was. I was a little bit older, and then I could get out of those bad example people. And then I was also lucky because two people from church went to that school because they had financial problems.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Odd thing.
Yeah. So we worked together so we could be a team and help each other. So I wasn't by myself anymore.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right. And that's a good point. So my next question would be, are there, you know, was there a part of spirituality that helped you through your financial journey, through the difficult times?
The spiritual, it would be the fighting, which was something very hard since the beginning that I start making money even before working. The money that I will get from home, from the chores that I would do in my. My mother would say that we wouldn't have to get paid for that. But sometimes she'll get paid. So she had the seasons like, okay, I'm gonna get. Get you paid. And sometimes she's like, no, no, it's your obligation. Which was. I agree with her. And then we wouldn't get paid, so you would have to get advantage of the seasons that she would pay us. Okay, so my mother is in a season that she is gonna pay us.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah, that's too quite a thing.
And then the obligation season of like, no, mom, I'm so sick. Not just kidding. If you get sick, she's like, she forbid it's us to get issues. She was going to believe she did. She's like, if you get sick, I'm gonna spank you. I was like, she used to say that. But, mom, I don't get sick because I want to. No, you do if you get sick. So seriously, I think. I don't remember getting sick. I think I. I didn't want to get spanked. That's my mom. Crazy lady. So since the day that I stopped working and paying the tithing was something very hard for me, I was like, man, why do I have to pay 10 of my money? It's my money.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: I need my money and I need it now.
No, I'm not giving to you. And then. No, because you get. And then we read the scriptures and we learn at church that it needs to get paid because you're gonna get blessings. And I wouldn't see any of the blessings. Maybe I got a lot of blessings. Probably I did got a lot of blessings because I kept a job and I started getting money. But I. At the Time.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: At the time, you didn't see it?
No, not at all. I was really mad seeing my tidy. And I would pay very sad, crying sometimes. And then I like, okay, I'll skip that week. What, what, what is going to happen? Not at all. No fun for me. It was really painful to pay the tithing. But then as I grew up, I started paying attention on the testimonies on the, from the first Sunday's church meetings. And I'm like. And people talk a lot. I was like, maybe this is, this is for me. Because they will talk a lot about tidying, I think, because Brazil is such a hot country, financial wise. And then so people do talk a lot of money. They have a lot of experience about money, how they got money from here, from there. So with those testimonies, I, starting from other people's testimony, I started, okay, I'm gonna pee my tiny and I won't be sad. So I got, I started painting my tiny a little bit more relaxed. And then it got better and better and better.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Now it's not even an issue. So from your dad and from the lessons that you learned growing up, do you still carry those with you a lot.
And then I, I think I'm one of the, the kids in the house. And I know Raquel, my sister, is also very good, money wise, that it taught me how to manage my money very well. And I'm not saying that it's making me rich or anything, but I do not give my money to something that I know it's not gonna be worth it. It's not gonna be important for me. So. Yeah. Can I say I'm stingy? No, I'm not stingy anymore. I used to be. Anymore. I used to be a lot stingy.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: So was there something from your past, some kind of financial decision that you did in your past, or maybe an example from the past that you had to reconcile that, that you had to get through from your past. And how did you do that if there was something like that?
In 2013, I decided to open a business here in the U.S. which was a restaurant, and with two people. Two other people. And then I had to be your partners, right? Yes, Business partners. Yeah. So I, we, me and my husband, we had an apartment in a hotel that we would rent and get money from that. And we sold, we put the whole money into the restaurant.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: So you exchanges. So you lost some of the money and then you invested too, right?
And then I invested, yes. And it was a very good experience. And I learned how to open a Business in the US A lot easier than in Brazil. So don't go in Brazil unless you have a lot of money or, you know, good people. Right? The right people. Actually. It was a very good experience. So I put my, the, the whole apartment into the restaurant. The restaurant was never profitable. No, it was never. And then profitable. And it was. You've been there. And I guess in the beginning the food was very good and then it became not very good anymore. I don't know. It. It didn't go well all the time. And then it was not profitable. You would pay the bills, we will pay the people. Sometimes we couldn't even pay everybody, so we'd have to let people go and do the job ourselves. Indiana. So I learned a lot. It was a very good learning process. And then in 2020, right before pandemic, we decided to.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Your husband and you.
Yeah, my husband and me. We decided to let it go. I was like, okay, we're going to sell our part. And then people think, oh, we're going to sell. You're going to get money because it's a restaurant. And that's how should have been. But it was not. So the decision that we made was like, okay, we're going to let it go. You keep the, the debt, whatever, everything that you have, and we're going to get out of. With zero money. And that was a very like, hard decision to make. We have to give a lot of thought about.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Because it was an investment, right? And you got.
No, yeah, it was a money investment. It was a tiny investment. And for me it was a, a school drop off investment because I was in a, almost the end of a program, the physical therapy program I was doing. So I had like one semester to go and then I let it go. And because I was here for a few years and I couldn't come back and finish it up and then. So it was a lot of things, but it was a very good learning and I don't regret it. And people really get sad when I tell the story. Okay. So I got out of nothing. My father especially, he's like, you're not gonna get any money. And still today he's asking like, are you sure you're not gonna get any money?
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: I was like, yeah, that is done.
Only if I play on the lottery casino. Yeah. On the CAS Latino. Maybe I can try to make the money that I spent. But no, I'm not gonna get any money. And people ask if I'm really upset about that. And that's something that I am not. I Learned how to deal with that, actually since day one. I think on the day that we made that decision, it was, I cried before meeting the decision a little bit like my apartment. But then when I made the decision, it was really something that, okay, that's the decision we want. That's what we're gonna do. And the money is gone. It is gone. And then let's move on next, next chapter, let's do something else. But people still get really sad, judgmental, right?
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah.
Like, why did you do that? Why did you make that decision? And why you're not sad. But I, I do forgive of the situation because I learned so much, I think so it paid for my learning. Can I say that? Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And I think it's interesting because a lot of people would feel like, I cannot, I don't want to try something else because of that result. But if you see an outcome as either, you don't see as a failure. Right. It's either, you know, so then you try something in your life.
I, I, you know how I see as a success? Success. I was very happy during the time I had the restaurant. I was, it was successful. I was learning and I felt important. And then I would say, I have a business. Even though people think like, okay, so she's making a lot of money and I was making nothing. I was actually working for free. I would not get paid a penny. And then people, because we don't, we, we don't have to tell people everything. So I was like, whatever what they think. And then it was, it was a very happy time of my life until the day, the last day, even though the last day that we had to make the decision, I thought it was very successful. And it changed me in a lot of ways in all the errors that I made on the restaurant. Now I know, I recognize them because we just like we, the three of us, we had working restaurants before and we thought we knew, but we didn't, we didn't know how to have the business. We just knew how to make the.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Food, how to run. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
How to manage management is easy.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right, Right, right. Yeah.
But how to have the business per.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Se, set it up, where to put it.
Why do you're going to have that restaurant in that place? Why do you gon name your restaurant that name? How many people do you want to be in your restaurant every day? Things small things like that, that Now I know, now I know. But at the beginning I was like, yeah, let's try it out. Let's. I'll do a Little bit of barbecue here. Yeah, let's do it. You like it.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You open, you open. Everybody will come. You don't have to market. You don't have to do anything of that.
Exactly. So that was the big mistake. We didn't have enough study. The three of us made the same mistake. And I think the three of us learn how to that next time. We're not going to make that mistake. Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: So with that mindset, this is great because you're either winning or you're learning. So you don't see it. It's like, oh, this was a negative experience. It was a good experience. We learned this time. We learned.
Right.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: All right. So you seem to have a lot of. Now we're going to switch a little bit gears, but you seem to have a pull from kids. Like, kids get attracted to you and you have lots of nephews, nieces, and they're always around you. You have this big heart. You're like the favorite aunt. Tell me a little bit about that relationship and, you know, your interaction with the youth and with kids.
Okay. Yeah, I love kids. Maybe it's because I'm still a kid. Have you think about that? Maybe, maybe I haven't grow. You know, one of my nieces, sometimes she looks at me and she's like, are you still a child? And I think that's the. The most beautiful question. And I am. I am still a child. And then sometimes she gets mad. She's like, you're not a child. You're an adult. Act as an adult. That's. Yeah, that's too difficult. And Cecilia, Cecilia also used to say that now she grew. She knows that it's a play fool. That I'm. That I'm very playful. But Anna is. Anna's in the face, like, act like an adult. I. I just can't. I just can't.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: So kids not as fun.
Oh, there is a video. And then you put that on the link. Okay. About the. The two penguins.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Penguins.
They're walking. And then, then he's like, what do you have? Something like that. What do you have? I have a adult adulthood. Adulthood sucks. You're talking about. Because he's being grumpy. I was like, what do you have? Adulthood.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Adulthood. Yeah, that's my disease.
Yeah. Sucks. And it does. Sucks. And I. And I love kids and I love how they think. And I. And Since I was 14, I used to teach in primary. And then when I was 18, I became a primary president at my. My ward. It was a very small ward. And then my primary Was really fun. And then I moved to the US When I went back. I used to teach English in school. Lots of kids, all the kids in my class, all the other teachers will be looking to for their kids. And then they will be in my classroom even though I don't treat them very well.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You're pinching them.
If you wanna like, if you like do something good. For me, it's, it's not like I spoil the kids. And then all my nephews and nieces and I think I'm easy going and. Because I like them. Yeah, exactly. Maybe I have the same kind of thought. And then they, they come here, they like to stay in my house. And then I put videos and then we watch movie together. And then we. I try to, to be there like being on the same age while I'm with them. So it makes it easy. Now I go, I teach primary again and all the kids ask for a play date every week.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: At your house?
At my house. Can I have a play date? Can I have a play date? And even kids from school, Anna, school, school there is a girl and then she's like, can I go to your house? Can I be there in your house? I was like, yeah, you can. You ask your mom to bring it over. And then that time you, you get out, you just want to come because. But the kids, they don't mind. They like, they have, they love to have limits and they love to have people who not being bossy. But they have like. Okay, so you got, you have structure. Exactly. So and they, and they don't judge. Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Plus you spend time with them. Yeah, they don't come here and you just put them in front of the tv. Right. It seems.
Yeah, I kick them out sometimes.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And also you have your little dogs.
Yes, by little. Look at the position of that dog.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Oh man, he has this huge dog. It actually looks like a horse.
Yeah, it's just a puppy and he's 140 pounds.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: What is the, the breed?
It is Irish wolfhound.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: There you go. So look it up so you can. Yeah, well, we put a picture on.
The show notes and then there are two cats that I got from the street.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay.
Yeah, two cats upstairs from the street. And I always had animals. I always would get stray cats and dogs in Brazil bringing them home, bathe them. That's because of my mom. My mom would. I remember going back from church one day was me and my mom in the car. And then we were in the, the freeway, the busy freeway on a Sunday. And then we stopped the Car in the middle of the freeway because there was a dog crossing. And then it was a puppy. Very. He had and son of. Yeah. Fleas.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And, and.
And what is.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Somebody just skin.
Yeah. And she would stink and then we stop. We put her in the car. She was an amazing dog. She went to my brothers because we couldn't keep the. All the dogs all the time. So we would give the dogs away to somebody who needs the dog.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Let's find the word Portuguese to English here. Oh, that's for sarna. Yeah. Let's figure it out.
Okay. It's a skin disease.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Scabies.
Scabies. Oh, well, we didn't know that. That's a new word for me.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: I thought scabby was just like when you have a. A sore and you have a scabby.
But asana is a sore.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Oh, is it?
It is. It is a sore. And it's. That is true. Yeah. It stinks because it gets inflamed. Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah, I've had that before. I got from a bunny.
You did? Oh, crap.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. I spread to my mom. Yeah, it was horrible.
We're like. And you know something very interested. Interesting. I'm very allergic to cats and dogs.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You are?
I am. Did you know that before?
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: No.
Oh, I have allergies like crazy.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: But you don't mind the yellow.
I don't. I like the dogs more than my allergy. I remember going to a doctor. I had allergies my. My whole family. And then my mother likes curtains and carpets and rugs and everything. Fabric stuff, every. Fabulous little things on the couch, on the table and dogs and cats. And then I went to. I was having a lot of allergy. Okay. I was 10 years old. My. My father, he set up an appointment with a doctor, allergic doctor. And then the doctor said. He said, okay, so you gotta get rid of the curtains and the carpets and the animals, and then your allergy is going to get better. I was only 10 and I thought, of course it's going to get better because I'm not gonna have all the things that gives me allergy anymore. I was like, what kind of doctor is that? So I left the doctor's office. I was like, I cannot do that. That's my mother's house. And that's my mother's animals and curtains and carpets. So from that day, I decided that I needed to get my allergy better. So I got. And how do you say, okay, so this is what happens. I get a dog or a cat. My first week. I have Benadryl.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay.
And then I have your own system. Yeah, I have my own system. So I get Benadryl and then I start getting. Taking less Benadryl. And then my body gets used to the fur of that either dog or cat. And then I don't have allergy from that dog or cat. But, for example, you have two dogs. Now if I go to your house and because you're not used to hair, actually, they're not fur, so they're not going to give me allergy. Although this guy gives me in his hair, he gives me a lot of allergy until today. But my body gets strong for those animals.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: That's specific.
Yeah. So if I go to somebody's houses with a cat and then I get allergy, but I don't mind.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay.
Because I love them more. Just like kids. I have allergy from kids.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: I'm glad that you brought that back, because I was gonna come back to that. So you cannot teach money to your dogs, but you can teach money to the grandkids. Grandkids. The. The nephews and the nieces and the people like the youth that you kids at church. So do you think that you have an influence in their financial development?
I think probably by example, my whole family probably does because all the nephews and nieces a very good with money. So I don't think I ever did something like straightforward, okay, I'm gonna teach you this. But probably by example, like when we go to a place and we say, I'm not going any dead, because that is very expensive. It's not going to be worth it. And then, you know when the kids like. But they're going to be wanting, but you're not gonna get it, and they forget because kids forgive really fast. So we gotta deal with that. And I have a story from my. My nephew. And he goes to college, University of Utah, and he studies engineering. And then he pays for his own school, which is expensive. Yeah. So he decided not to get any money from government because no student loans. He said, I'm gonna pay because. And I don't want to get. I don't want to get to pay after I. Yeah, yeah. So he's like. He decided to make that decision. So he would study in his family room and where the computer was. And it was just one computer for the house. So you'll be studying over there. And the family would be either eating or watching TV or doing something. And he'll say like, because it's too expensive. Instead of like, this is a too hard subject and I have to study or no, it's too expensive.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: He knew exactly what that meant.
Right.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: That that class meant money.
So he needed to pass, get over, not pay again.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: True, true. Is he done with school?
He is going to be done. He's on his fifth year, so I don't know if he's the beginning of the fifth year or just the end. I don't know.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah, that's a long program then. So I think that's important that as he does that he gives a lot of, you know, value to his education and then probably he'll be able to get some scholarships for the future, right? Yeah, because he put a lot of.
Work, a little bit of scholarship in the very beginning from marching band, things like that. But he like two semesters and one semester here, two, and then they're all gone. So now he's paying the whole thing.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: They pay the whole thing. Yeah, but, you know, he learned how to manage his time. He learned how to manage the money. Right. And.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And see what's really important. And he decided to stay home.
Yeah, right. He decided to stay home instead of.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Going live in the dorm.
Decided to stay home. See, he could save money. And then he decided to get an easy job so he could have flexible hours. And he loves to go skiing. No, Snowboarding in the winter time. Yeah, yeah. But he gets the good deals. So he doesn't pay a lot of money.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: That's awesome.
Got like from group or whatever for the whole season.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: That's awesome.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You know, so you see that one of the things you're doing is like, you're showing that maybe what they're learning at home, they can see you doing it. So it's not something that they're learning. It's just like, oh, that's just my parents. But like, they think it's a way of life.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Because all of you siblings kind of do it the same way.
We kind of do the same thing because of my parents, the way they taught us. And then we all. Every. Yeah, because when we go, for example, we go to Target and then we see a beautiful dress. And then Targets, if there is not on the very back with the 75% off. Those are expensive dresses. Right. And we like, oh, this is beautiful. No, we're not gonna get it. And I think that might be the example for the kids because we put it out from the.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: The rack.
From the rack. We look, we like, we think about it and we say, no, it's not gonna be worth it. The money that I, like, I had to work for that Money not worth it. So leave the. Let's go to Di, Huh?
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Exactly. And use the coupon on the bottom, right? Absolutely. Yeah. And so it's consistency, which helps when you're learning anything to be consistent. And they see that all over, which is a great example for all of them. Yeah, so that is. That is so important because that will emphasize, you know, it shows what they can do and that they can not. Because they want something, that they're gonna get it right. They can think about it. That's excellent.
So.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: So now let's go to now. And you have a job.
What do you do? I work for JetBlue.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: All right, so then you have from home.
My bus is never late. You know, yesterday on the news, everybody was. Did you get into traffic because of the snow? The traffic was horrible. And then I was like, yeah, but my bus never flat higher or late.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right? Yeah, absolutely. You're good. You're always on time.
Always on time. On time. If I'm not on time, it's only because of me.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. It's your own fault. Right. So is there something that you're doing right now or something that you consistently do to grow in your financial knowledge or understanding?
I keep studying and then I love when my father asked me questions about investing or he asked me how to teach me to. To teach somebody else, like my brother how to, say, save money. And because of his ask me that, to do something for somebody else. I actually doing that for me, for myself, and I get better and better. And I. All my ideas, I talk a lot and, you know, I talk a lot and I'm very easy to have conversation. And at my job, I work on the phone, so I deal with all the problems. Yeah. I have to solve the. The big issue. So I actually now help the. My colleagues, the crew members and people from the airport. So usually it's not customers only. So I help a lot of. So and then we. We deal with a lot of things with money because they have credit card numbers or not numbers issues, something happened or it's a fraud or something here or it didn't work. And they have to. To pay for a ticket, but they don't have enough money on that card, but they have money there. And then because of those little things, I start giving customers or my colleagues ideas. And because of those ideas, it comes up with more ideas from somebody else. So like I told you in Portuguese, I love hearing ideas and I love to be coached.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Coached? Yeah, Coachable.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Feedback.
And yes, now I love it because I think that if somebody says something that I could be doing better, I want to hear and then I want to try it.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And it might not take you so long if you have to hear yourself. Right?
Yeah. Because people seeing from the outside is always better. Right? Like Shayla, look what you do you doing, you're doing totally wrong. And then, and I, I'm thinking that I'm doing right because usually when we do something, it's because we think it's the, the right way of doing.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And sometimes maybe just a little tweak right on something, it could make a big difference.
And I love that. Now nowadays if somebody tells me like stop doing that and try that. Of course, sometimes we try and it's not gonna work and.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: But then you know that that doesn't.
Work and then that doesn't work. And then. And like I said on the other one, I love to be coached and I love to hear, listen to people, even though it's not for me. For example, in a, in a Relief Society class and then we have people from all classes, all people who social money and no money and study, no study. And then we listen to their stories and then we always get something like, oh, that could work for me. That is going to be good for me and for kid from kids as well in the primary. I don't know, it's. I think it's because they are like, they are like Jesus. They say something sometimes like, man, why did I not think about that? And it comes from a four year old kid or a five year old kid and we, some people say like you're gonna listen to a five year old kid? Yeah, because that five year old kids saying something for me and then I don't know, it's just magic.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Something you're telling about your nephew. Tell the story about your nephew on the iPad.
Yes, my nephew. I, I was struggling with my iPad, something on my iPad. I was like, you know, I want to do this and I can't and I can't figure it out how to do it. And then I was just with my nephew. He was two at time and he doesn't speak. He knows how to drive a car, but he doesn't speak. And he was only 2, wearing diapers and he was laying on the bed. We just, I was just laying right next to him. He was watching a video and then he did exactly what I needed to learn. What was. I was struggling on the iPad at that time. I was like, what? It's like, so see, we learn a.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Lot from kids observing, right?
Observing Kids and adults and everybody. And even an animal, anything, we just observe and we learn a lot.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: A lot times. Sometimes we just have to take the time to observe.
Right.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Instead of just going from one thing.
Yeah. And thinking that I know everything. I actually, as much as we grow older, we learn that we know nothing. Right.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. There's always more to learn. And we.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: We don't have all the answers.
Yeah. Let me tell you, that is very important for me. Like, if I knew that being obedient since I was a little kid, and even though I was being obedient of something and I didn't know why I had to do that, like, if my mother would say, do this, and I do not agree, but I would do it anyway, my life would be much easier. And now I know that obedience is.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: The first law of heaven.
It is the first law of heaven. And it is. And I didn't realize that when until I grew older and I tell that to my nieces and nephews, I was like, learn that. But it's very hard because we don't want to be obedient when we're very young because we think we know. Right. You have teenagers. And like my teenager niece the other day, she brought me a sticker to put on the. On my door, like, saying, embrace yourselves because of my dog.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay.
With two paws. So, like, embrace yourselves because that dog is going to get you. So she bought me that. She got me that sticker, and I was like, can you put that on the door for me? Because I sometimes I. I place stupid so they can do things for us. Playing stupid. It's amazing. So I told her to do that. Do I know how to put a sticker on the door? Of course I do. And then my, my sister, which is the mother, she's like, giving her tips because the door was very dirty and blah, blah, blah. So I cleaned, and she was giving a tip, and she says to the mother, mom, I know how to do that. Would you like. Would you be quiet? So she was like, not being a nice teenager at that time. Like, would you be quiet? Because I know how to do it. Would you like me to stop and do yourself? I was like, she deserves, like, a slap on the face. And then my sister was like, and you know teenagers, they do that all the time. They think they know everything. I know she knows about how to do put a sticker on the wall, but she doesn't know a lot of things about life. Oh.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And maybe knowing that if she would have to clean something, the sticker Would stay put together.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: If it was dirty, maybe wouldn't stick.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You know, it missed an opportunity to. Maybe not that time, but something else.
Yeah, something else. And I remember I was like when I was a teenager and then. Because I had to do a lot of things by myself because of my mother shapes. And then I would pay the bills. I was like, I. I thought I learned a lot. And then I realized now that if I would listen to adults that know better, my life would be much easier. I would have done a lot less mistakes.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah.
But isn't that awesome? Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: It's sometimes just hard for us to accept that other.
There is a reason. I. I don't remember. We should search because there is a speech from one of the leaders saying there is a reason for that. There is a reason that we don't know anything. And then we have to make mistakes and we have to learn how to regret or forgive somebody else. There is a very good speech. We should find it.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. I will look for it.
Yeah. Because there is a speech. Because if heavenly Father would make us be obedient 100% all the time, everybody's life was going to be easy. Would that be something that he want? I don't know. There is. There is a speech. We need to believe it. It.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Because it's agency. Right.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: When we. We decide to take someone advice or not.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: We.
We gotta.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: There's an exercise in our agency.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: And. But that would be much easier if we listen to people. Yeah. Tell us what.
Actually our parents.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay. Annika, are you listening to this? Or. Iris, are you listening to this?
Yeah. See? Listen to this and your life is going to be a lot easier.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Listen to us. Right. Even, you know, just listen. Right.
Just listen. I tell my nieces, like, if you just do it, I tell Marcella, which is my. My. My sister, who. My dad. She. She.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: How old is she?
She's 21 now. And I tell her, like, if you just be obedient.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah.
Just be obedient without knowing why. Are they asking you to do that or not to do that. Your life is going to be easier. She doesn't want to. Not now.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah.
So. And then she makes the mistakes and then she regrets doing something. Yeah. That's life.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. It's part of the learning. But we make it. It would be easier if we just take some shortcuts, listen to people just obeying.
Right. I so wanted to go back and listen to like my mother would say, do this.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: I'm doing it. Yeah.
Now doing it at the time I say, hey, like don't go to church walking to get ice cream because one day I got mugged.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You got mugged?
Yeah. And then I had to be really mad at the guy because he was a. And then I was. I had my, my, My sweater around, around my waist and then my backpack and he got my. I was like, wait, give to me. And I remember the backpack.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: He was trying to grab the backpack.
And he grabbed the backpack and he was a. He was. Than I was. And I was like. So I run after. I. I used to run really fast and then I run after him and then I punch him. And then it was like a little bit of height. And then you got it back. I got it back. I was like, no way. Not getting that. No, no, not today.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. At least nothing happened.
Right.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Because something could, you know, you never know he had a knife or something like that.
Which is, which is very common.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. So at least that. Right. But the advice is really good. It's about, you know, just trusting in what people are telling you. And, and usually when people tell us something, it's not because they want to harm. Right.
Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: They want to help us out then.
Exactly. Our parents and the leaders of the church. The prophet, he only says things that he wants the best for us.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Even if it's hard. Yeah.
And sometimes it's so hard, like pitying the titan, you know, not easy.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Oh, that's funny. So to finish our conversation, which has been so pleasant, I'm going to do just three rapid fire questions. Okay. Just tell me whatever comes to mind. All right, so here's the first one. What was the worst financial decision that you ever made? It could be a bad one. Doesn't have to be the worst.
Buying this house really fast.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Tell us a little bit about that.
So when I moved to the. To Utah, I was living with my mother in a small apartment.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You're living in Florida.
Nice house. And then I put my house for sale and the market was going up, up and up. And I knew that and interests were going down. So see, the market was just being better.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. For. For sell. It was a seller's market.
Yeah. But I was very anxious to get my own place.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You're with your mom in an apartment, Right.
In an apartment with a huge dog. And I want my own room. And, and you know, I like your stuff.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Didn't fit in.
Yeah. I'm not a teenager living with my a mom anymore, so it not easy. It was not easy. So I bought the I. Every house that I would See, it was be the perfect house. Okay. Okay. That's a perfect house.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: So I'm glad you just want to settle for something. You just wanted to get out. Right.
And I'm glad my husband's like, that's not a perfect house. We're not getting that. Or because the market was so, like, inflated. Yeah, inflated. That whenever we say, like, okay, so should we make an offer? Whenever we finish the sentence, somebody else already made an offer and an offer got accepted. It was so. It was so fast that in the morning we see house for sale, evening pending. So fast. Fast like that. So I'm glad that lots of houses. That it was perfect. It was actually not perfect. And then when I got this house, which is a very nice house, I don't regret, but that was not the perfect house. And I sold my house in Florida too fast. So I could have done a little bit more money and hang out for a couple. A couple more months and then get a better house, probably.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay, that's a good example. Yeah, that's true. Well, because you're saying earlier that you're. To the house that you got in Florida, you were very picky about it. Very picky things.
Yes, because I got the first house. I was very picky because I. I was not anxious at all to get a house. And then I was like, okay, I want a house with this, that, that. So I have my list of things that I wanted, so. But a lot of things were missing. And then that I didn't know that I should have on my list. List. And then I made a new list. And then I got a second house, and my husband was like, and you.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Sold the first one very well, right?
Very well, yes. And then my husband's like, my wife is crazy. But he knew when he married. Yeah. So it's. I don't blame him. I don't blame myself.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: What is it? Lack of wisdom or knowledge?
Right, Knowledge. So I remember, like, because we were in the house for two, two and a half years, and I said, I want a new house, but we just got this one. What's wrong with the house? Nothing's wrong with the house, but I want a new house. Yeah, I want a new house. And then I made him my. His mind and then looking for houses. And then I made a better list, and we went to this amazing house. It was just an amazing house. And then we moved to Utah. And then I failed a little bit.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You learned. You learned.
No, see, I was like, see?
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah.
Even though we have knowledge, sometimes we still make the Same mistakes.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right? Right. Yeah. Don't we have. We are always repenting from the same thing. Sometimes it's like, yeah, sheesh. All right, next question. What was the most useless thing that you ever bought?
Clothes that I didn't need it. Especially in Brazil, that I couldn't return the clothes here. It's easy. I. I regret. I love seagull book.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Oh, yeah.
I love the dresses over there. And I love dresses. And then sometimes I buy a dress and it's like 40 something. I was like. And then I come here, I look at my closet, and I'm like, wow, I don't need that dress. And then there I go. I come back, I take it back. But in Brazil, I couldn't do that. And I remember going to the mall. Beautiful dresses. I don't know how they settle how so beautifully in Brazil for the clothes that we. It's makes it magic. And you want to buy it. And I'm not even like a person who buys things easily. Not at all. Like I said before, stingy. So I would, like, get like a dress or a sweater, and then it will be on my closet. I didn't need it. Those things I always regret. I was like, why did I buy that? Now I have to have that. I don't need it.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah. And staring at you.
Right. And it'll be exactly. Okay, okay. I'm putting. I. I'll hide it. And it will come as magic, like filling up the closet again. Like, get out of here.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: All right. Yeah. So close. I understand. All right. And then the last one. What was something that you bought that turned out to be better than you expected?
The second house that I bought.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay.
Yeah, the second house that I bought. I thought I. I made the list. And then like you said, I was happy. I checked. Yes. And then I. I checked like even a few more times that I even met the owner. Usually we don't meet the owners. Right. And then I could ask a little bit of questions here and there. And then I was like, yeah, that's a nice house. It's going to be good. And then I'll be really happy here. And then when I moved to the house, I was living in the house. It was just perfect. It was so much better than I thought.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Oh, that's cool.
Yeah. I wish I could have brought the house.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay. Yeah.
Yeah. Like, I brought the dog in the car. It was a four day trip. I should. I should have brought the house on the top. You know, they move houses we see on the trucks. Why couldn't have Done that, because those are trailer holes. Oh, my garden. The garden there.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Whoa.
Amazing. I have my own little forest and my animals and.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah, you invited all the animals from the neighborhood.
They have time for the food.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Well, you had an emu.
All right. I have the. The sand here. Cranes that would come in feet. I would feed them, the deers. They would come same time, usually when the sun setting, because they don't want to be seen.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay.
So they're very shy or very afraid. But the sand here, cranes, they're like. Over there, turtles also. They. They run so fast. Yes, they are so fast. It's such a lie that turtles are slow. They're. They're liars. Because I remember once I saw one coming to my garden, and then I was like, oh, a turtle. And then I would go after she turned around into the water so fast.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: You had it close to the water?
I had, like, a pond. Yeah. Like a little lake. Yeah.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Okay.
And a little forest. Yeah. It's like I was in paradise. Yeah. I had a zoo.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Yeah, you had a zoo?
I had a zoo with me. All the. The lizards, like more than a thousand. And then the squirrels. And then one squirrel every morning, nine o' clock, would come and call for winter, which is my dog. And same time, same place.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Was that in the clock or.
No, just come, because I have the cage. The. For the mosquitoes cage in the.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Right, right, right.
And then would come inside the cage, and they make a little bit of noise. And then this noise, she would go. She would be inside because she likes the ac. Florida is too hot. Right. So she would go outside, and the. The squirrel would run from one side to the other side, one side. And she'll be running.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Playing with her.
Playing with her every day, nine in the morning.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: All right, that. That sounds like a magical place, that you don't have it anymore, but, hey, you can get another one, right?
Exactly.
[CFM COACH ASSISTANT AI ]: Maybe something else magical.
Nice. Yeah. I'll go after the animals here.
