How To Deal With FEAR

Coach Troy Aberle presents a short motivational talk about fear, arguing that fear arises from the stories we tell ourselves and can be reframed. He identifies three types of fear—fear of failure, fear of success, and fear of self-worthiness—offers examples (e.g., fear of flying, fear of speaking, fear of applying for jobs), and encourages changing the narrative to focus on possibilities rather than limitations. The talk closes with a personal sign-off and a call to subscribe.
Hey everybody, my name is Coach Troy.
Hey everybody, my name is Coach Troy. The topic I want to talk to you today is fear. You know, the reason why I want to talk to you about fear is because I believe a lot of coaches, a lot of gurus, mentors, speakers are talking about, you know, fear being the reason why we're not doing things, why we're not achieving our goals, and why we're not able to, you know, live life at the highest frequency possible. I think fear is the result of, of one thing that's happening, and I believe it's your story. The story that you're telling yourself is really what's causing you to have fear. And it's really causing you to either win or lose at what it is that you want to achieve or not achieve. But you see, the thing is, we need to understand fear because fear is something there, that's part of the equation. And I really wanted to teach you something that I thought was really powerful for me. So there's three types of fear. The first type is the fear of failure. That failure nobody wants to fail. Whether it be in front of yourself, in front of your family, in front of your co workers, or in front of other people who might be able to judge you. My question is, why do you care why you're being judged? If you're totally happy with you and you're willing to step up, speak out and be who you are and feel great about it, then don't fear that. The failure that you should be judging yourself on is the fear of not doing something, not trying something, not going for it. That's what you should really be fearing. And so I want to leave it at that. But the next type of fear is the fear of success. I've worked with clients that are fearful that if they are too successful, that they're going to be too busy, that they're going to miss out on other things in their life. I have clients that have been fearful that if they make too much money that they're going to pay too much tax. And you know, you come up with so many things on the fear of success. The other type of fear is the fear of self worthiness. If you don't feel worthy about you, then you can't. You're going to be fearful all the time because you have to be in a place that where you can feel worthy of. Every person on this planet is worthy of achieving whatever they want to. Now I know there's places in our world that unfortunately there's different things that are happening that block us, you know, whether it's politics or religion or you know, all kinds of things that you might believe in that people are going to challenge, but you still have the right to feel worthy of who you are and what you want to do and get to a place where you can completely change.
Those types of limitations and move, change the people you're around, change the people who are judging you, change all of that and really, you know, feel good about what it is that you can do. Rather than come from a place of fear, look at for the opportunity. Everything can have a reverse polarity. So if you're scared of something, whether it's a self worthiness or fear of failure or success, and if you need to slide that over what is the opposite frequency, you can give that, because I guarantee you, if you can find something that you're scared of, you can turn that into an opportunity. It's going to change your life. I used to have a fear of flying. Completely freak out. However, I change it from the fear of, you know, crashing or whatever, that's almost like not even possible. But I change that into an opportunity because I get to go to other places, speak to more people, have more impact on people, and I get to float above the all the noise of all the things that are scattered around underneath me and just live in bliss for three or four hours where I can't even be bothered. I get to meditate, I get to be a part of that. And I put so much passion into looking forward to that time that I'm in the sky so that I don't have to worry about the lineups and all the things were bothering me and turbulence and all these things that I have no control over that also have no meaning that needs to go behind it. So, you know, rather than me having the fear of being out of control, I need to be in realistic terms that I am in control of exactly what my outcome is going to be. And these are the steps I need to do to achieve that. Because I have applied way more failure to hiding at home and being scared of flying, right? There's people that are scared of speaking, there's people that are scared of applying for that new job or that promotion or, or leaving a relationship and starting a new relationship with somebody. Right? Don't have fear. Change the story to this is what I'm going to achieve. And that's what you go after. Make sure the story doesn't have limitations. Make sure the story has possibilities.
