How do you stand out at a college ID camp if you are a girl? We're currently at the Elite SoCal ID camp in Glendale for this women's soccer ID camp. At this camp, we have schools like Claremont McKenna, Pomona-Pitzer, Caltech, high academic D3 programs, a bunch of D2s and D1s. So let's find out how you can stand out. So here's one of our coaches from Dominguez Hills who's setting up her exercises, and even though it's small, she is already looking at all these girls sitting down and how you guys are interacting. For example, this group of girls are clearly on the same team and they're already communicating with each other, and that honestly is great to see. Coaches are looking at so many different things, but they are looking at everything the moment you come here— how you talk to other players, how you walk in. And so one of the best ways to stand out, especially as a girl, because it can be known for you guys to be a little bit more shy is to really introduce yourself to people you don't know. The more often you know the players' names on your team, the way more you're going to get the ball, the way more a coach like myself will think you're a leader and somebody that wants to bring the group together. If you're an introvert, for a girl, I would say to you, tough luck, you don't get to be an introvert. You're trying to stand out and play college soccer and it's not easy. So it's a healthy life lesson that you must be interactive, communicative, And it will stand out right away because on the boys' side, for example, if I give this advice, probably 15 of them do it, and that's 15. On the girls' side, so few people do it. Maybe 1 or 2. So you'll automatically stand out by tenfold. So an example of this would look like this. Hi, I'm Jennifer. What's your name? Where do you play? Nice to meet you. Hi, what's your name? And you almost go down the list of players on your team. And if you were doing that right now while I'm standing here, and I saw you introducing yourself to your players and saying hi, I would immediately be like, oh, you're an adult, you're not just some teenage girl. And I as a coach would want to know who you are. If you want more help playing college soccer, send me your clips, tell me your club level, tell me your GPA, DM me, and I will help you play college soccer.
