Hey everybody, I'm Dallas. I'm a chemsex recovery coach. If you or someone you know is trying to turn away from chemsex, either methamphetamine, mephedrone, GHB, or all of the above, here are my 3 top suggestions for an impactful beginning of the journey. Number 1 is your phone. Your phone is literally the digital drug dealer who lives in your pocket. The main reason inpatient treatments are successful is that they don't give you access to your phone. This is specifically vital when it comes to chemsex recovery. Geosocial dating apps like Grindr and even Zoom or Telegram make accessing meth simple, and one can be at a drug party or an orgy in minutes almost anywhere around the world. So priority number 1 is changing your phone number and blocking access to download these apps and sites. Number 2, transparency. As difficult as it may be, sharing your struggle with others around you, such as family, friends, or joining a support group, is vital. Not only sharing, but asking to be held accountable. Getting ahead of chemsex requires proactivity and preemptively looking over your calendar to pinpoint danger zones in your week. Where are you— where will you most likely use? And fill that hole with phone calls, And plans you can't get out of. Number 3, finally and most importantly, your why. Your why will determine long-term sustainable recovery. When we are trying to quit because we might lose our job or our partner or because we just shouldn't do meth, those are all logical reasons from the head. To deeply shift your identity, you will find your why in your heart. That kind of why looks like, I want a new identity. Or I am someone who doesn't use meth. Something along those lines of who you are becoming. And you want to choose that man over your past version. These 3 measures are a powerful foundation to chemsex recovery, and I'd love to hear about your experience. What has worked for you or people you know?
