I ran out to the yard and I went into the woods that were outside of our house and I held the phone and I just started scrolling for dealers and user buddies who I knew were still on Facebook. But then I paused. I just paused. And let me tell you, the pause is the most powerful tool you have in this stage of recovery. Pause, breathe, check in with yourself. I looked up in the sky and the sun was shining on my face through the tree branches. I still remember it. I actually took a picture somewhere in my phone. I used that godlike power again, free will. I held the phone up and I started blocking the users and the dealers. Then I went one by one, and each time I felt lighter, warmer, blood started flowing, and more powerful. As soon as I finished, and I know some of y'all have heard this story, I heard an audible voice say, we've been waiting for you. And a chill went Down my spine, chill bumps all over my body, and I started crying. Tears streaming down my face for the first time in my life. In my 40s, after growing up in the church, I came in contact with a presence outside of myself.
