A recovery coach shares 2025 research on chemsex among gay and bisexual men: 20% engage in it, GHB and crystal meth are most common, and nearly 40% say depression drives repeated use. The coach's job is connecting people to therapy, not shaming them for sex.

All right. This 2025 study published shows that 20% of the participants of men who have sex with men reported engaging in chemsex. Most common substances was 62% GHB, 45% crystal meth, 41% mephedrone, and 30% ketamine. Almost 40% of all of these men in the study reported that depression and mental illness was the main cause for their repeated use. Chemsex addiction, addiction is often not about the sex, guys. If you can't seem to stop using, the first step is to address your mental health. My role as a recovery coach is to act as a bridge between where you are and therapy with a credentialed professional. I get you far enough away from the substance to be therapized. DM me for more information on my program.
