Dallas Bragg, a recovery coach for gay men struggling with crystal misuse, argues that early recovery gets derailed by too many rules and not enough room for personal experimentation. Real change comes from testing what actually works for you, not following prescriptions that ignore your context. He invites viewers to share what they've been questioning.

You can't seem to change your behavior around crystal misuse because you're accumulating information without experience. Hey there, my name is Dallas and I help gay men break free from crystal misuse. In early recovery, you feel powerless and desperate for direction. That state of mind is often taken advantage of by people and programs who dictate what you should and shouldn't do without taking your individual context into consideration. Because you feel weak, you will do what you're told without question, and you are left with a ton of information and rules that really mean nothing to you long-term. The way to truly change behavior is through experience. Recovery will be sustainable if you question everything you are told and try what works for you. This leads to iterations, modifications in your own recovery journey so that you write your own rules. You discover what works and what doesn't work for you. This leads to empowerment. You have agency over your own life, and that, my friends, is true recovery. What have you been questioning lately that just doesn't feel right inside? Tell me in the comments.
