Dallas Bragg explains why people relapse after addiction treatment: they return to the same environment that enabled their addiction. Fifty to seventy percent relapse within a year, and crystal meth has even higher rates globally.
You go to treatment, you're in this protective space, you feel good about yourself, you're, you know, everything's run— chugging along, and then you get spit right back into the same environment.
And suddenly you're home alone. Good luck. And like you say, your lifestyle hasn't changed. The people are still there. Perhaps the house, the job, the environment is still the same environment as it was during your problematic time. Not a very big surprise that a lot of relapses happen within the first month. I think the, uh, the numbers, if I get them correctly, are between 50 to 70% here in the Netherlands within 1 year. That's a lot.
And then the, the relapse rate for, you know, crystal meth itself is even higher than any other substance. That's, that's a worldwide statistic too. So I would say that might even be higher for them. I don't know.
Yeah, that, that's a good one. It could be. And, and also the recovery time from such a relapse is obviously often also longer, uh, before you can get back to where you were.
