Dallas Bragg argues that meth addiction isn't about the drug itself but what it gives you: escape, validation, attention, connection. To quit, identify what need the drug fills, then find non-chemical ways to meet it. You have to stop using long enough to think clearly and build healthier alternatives.

If you want to figure out why you keep going back to Tina, you have to figure out what it is Tina's giving you. Get away from the notion that it's sex that you're addicted to. What you're addicted to is what she's giving you. Maybe it's an escape from life. Maybe it's validation. Maybe it's attention. Maybe it's connection with other men that you can't get in regular sober normie life. Whatever it is, think about When you do it, what are you getting from it? Then you take what you're getting from it and you try to replace it in other ways. What other ways can you find an escape? What other ways can you deal with your emotions? What other ways can you find connection? What other ways can you find validation? Even before you do all of that, you have to disconnect yourself from the chemical long enough, think clearly, and to make rational decisions and to be able to come to these conclusions.
