If you can't seem to get off the relapse cycle with Crystal, let me share this success story with you to provide some hope. My client, we'll call him Ronald, always used meth when his partner would go out of town on business. We identified his partner's next week-long trip as a danger zone or a red zone and went to work on pre-planning to set up as many safeguards as possible. As you may have heard me say before, when there are danger zones like certain weekends or alone time you know is coming up or miles Milestones, like a 3-month anniversary. You should and must set up your life in a way in which it is almost impossible to even choose meth. Ronald really went the extra mile though, which was so impressive to me. First, he alerted as many people as necessary of the upcoming danger zone. Transparency really is key. He reached out to a couple of other men in the program, as well as someone in close proximity, to act as accountability partners, agreeing to be checked on And be held accountable on a daily basis. He and I also set up daily check-ins strategically placed in the evening. He purchased a lockbox that held his phone captive for certain hours of the night. He blocked access to the apps and to the websites. He thought of any possible loophole and discovered that he had a device that wasn't blocked, so he asked his partner to hide it from him. He planned activities for himself on the weekends to make sure that his schedule was full. This man Took it very seriously. And guess what? He interrupted the pattern. He broke the cycle. He discovered a new level of self-trust during this process that has elevated not only his recovery journey, but his self-confidence. Now that he has seen the evidence of his abilities, he has experienced a deep healing and tangible evidence that he can break free from the addictive patterns of crystal. So where are your danger zones and how can you set yourself up for success the next time.
