Recovery isn't just about counting days sober. Real progress shows up in new routines, how well you name your feelings, the barriers you build between yourself and the substance, and how clearly you can describe who you're becoming.
Chapters
I really don't want to hear how many consecutive days you've been abstinent from the substance. I want to hear what new habits have you instituted in your life to create a consistent daily action. I want to hear how self-aware are you of the thoughts that are coming in and out of your mind, and how many times have you sat down to write about these? How connected are you with your emotions? How well can you identify exactly what you're feeling and why you're feeling them? What changes have you made in your environment that puts a wall between you and the substance and puts a wall between you and the person you used to be? How well can you describe the next-level person that you are striving to be? Who is that person? What are they like in all aspects of their life? And how often do you envision yourself being that person?
