Bisexual people face stigma from both straight and gay communities. The gay community often dismisses bisexuality as a phase or closeted denial, while straight people distrust men who claim bisexuality without understanding it. These overlapping prejudices reinforce the false idea that bisexuality is indecisive or selfish.
Chapters
It's difficult to accept bisexuality from the individual themselves, but also just different communities, the heterosexual community and the gay community, right? Because it's kind of with the gay community, it's, you haven't figured it out yet, you're using it as a mask, you haven't come out as gay yet, you're just exploring, you'll figure it out, it's a stepping stone. And there's a lot of invalidation that happens with that. There's also a lot of mistrust when it comes to bisexuality, because unfortunately what happens is a lot of DL guys, or a lot of straight-presenting men, will identify themselves as bisexual when they don't really know yet. So you will have a lot of people who hook up with men who are identifying as bisexual, and they haven't even fully figured out their bisexuality yet, and they're having really negative experiences. With these guys. And so it kind of creates this narrative around bisexuality that we just, we just haven't figured it out, that we're selfish, those kinds of things.
