A person in recovery from crystal meth addiction explains why they attend both Crystal Meth Anonymous and AA. CMA lets them talk openly about meth's sexual component, which traditional 12-step programs avoid. AA members show up faster when they need immediate help.

It is the sexual piece of crystal meth. It is not talked about in AA. I know it's not talked about in NA. And it is, you are able to talk about that part in CMA. And, you know, for me at least, that helps. And it helps hearing how others have overcome it and, you know, seeing that there is success out there with it. So that helped me and that's why CMA worked for me. But I also, you know, use AA for more, for me, for, how do I say this politely? I feel that people in AA are more responsive to your recovery than people in CMA, because since I'm a crystal meth addict, I can say this, we're a little flaky sometimes. So when you need help, sometimes people aren't there for you. Whereas in AA, I feel like they're more responsive and they're more, they're, they're there for you on a more higher level than I have found in CMA. And I can speak for myself for that too.
