Here's how you are misguided when it comes to substance use disorder recovery. You feel like you're drowning, overwhelmed by the prospect of ever being able to see progress or a substantial string of abstinent days. But I want you to begin a daily ritual of shutting off all your devices, close your eyes, and begin to imagine what life would be like without Tina. Really use the 5 senses and put yourself into that state of mind. What What would it feel like? Now, write down the descriptive words about that state of being and not have— by not having meth in your life. Now, every time you think you've made a mistake, like using again, or feel overwhelmed or hopeless, bring yourself back to that state of being. When you feel that state of being first internally, the external reality will follow. It sounds woo-woo, but it's true. If you stay in a low, shameful, and guilt-ridden state of mind, you'll keep using as a manifested reality of how you feel. Think about that.
