Dallas Bragg explains that the pull toward Tina isn't really about sex addiction, but about what the experience provides: escape, validation, attention, or connection. The first step is getting clear of the chemical influence long enough to think straight, then finding sober ways to meet those actual needs.

If you want to figure out why you keep going back to Tina, you have to figure out what it is Tina's giving you. Get away from the notion that it's sex that you're addicted to. What you're addicted to is what she's giving you. Maybe it's an escape from life. Maybe it's validation. Maybe it's attention. Maybe it's connection with other men that you can't get in regular sober normie life. Whatever it is, think about when you do it, What are you getting from it? Then you take what you're getting from it and you try to replace it in other ways. What other ways can you find an escape? What other ways can you deal with your emotions? What other ways can you find connection? What other ways can you find validation? Even before you do all of that, you have to disconnect yourself from the chemical long enough to think clearly and to make rational decisions and to be able to come to these conclusions.
