Dallas Bragg describes relapse as an out-of-body experience and argues that continuing to relapse despite not wanting to signals an internal decision to stop. That resolve sets things in motion toward recovery, even though change doesn't happen instantly.
Chapters
When you're going through the relapse, but you really don't want to, it's as if you're watching yourself in an outer body experience. This, my friend, is the end. The beginning of the end is when you start relapsing and going through the motions, but you really don't want to be doing it. This is a sign that in your heart, in your soul, you have decided to stop. You have put a desire out there that I am done. When that happens, Things begin to fall into place, but it doesn't just happen in the flip of a switch. It doesn't happen that way, but you have set a desire in motion, and I want you to give yourself some compassion, and I want you to understand it's almost over.
