Case Study: 0 To 20k/mo In 5 Months with a Lead Generation Agency

Brian went from mechanical engineer to $19,500/month in five months selling cold-email lead generation to B2B companies. He quit his job, made 45 sales calls in March, and scaled by testing email copy relentlessly and calling prospects constantly. The key was volume: he needed extreme outreach to land clients in SaaS, financial services, and staffing.

All right. What's up everybody? I got my boy Brian here and he joined AI Assistant Agency Client Extension. So it's June right now. And then you joined in originally in January, right?
Yeah.
You just hit $19,500 in a single month in May. So we'll call it for simplicity's sake, $20 grand. Is that right?
Yeah, we could call it that way.
About 5 months to go from complete dead zero, like literally $0 to making $20,000 in a single month. And obviously that's super accelerating at this point and all the money made along the way on the ascension up to that. So I want to take this time to interview you and ask you some questions about that. Hopefully give some value to the audience. Quick disclaimer, I'm not making anybody promises here that you're going to make this kind of money. The probability that you do is extremely low. But if you join something like AI Assistant Agency or Client Ascension, you get to learn from people who already have done it. So that could increase the probability that you do. So Brian, walk us through like kind of how this all happened, like the journey from zero up to $20K a month. What do you sell? And like, how'd you get here? Like all that kind of stuff.
I'm a mechanical engineer by profession. I'll say that I've had business experiences in the past, like I had an e-commerce business last year that I scaled close to like 6 figures a month, but for some reason or another ended up leaving that aside and wanted to start something new this year. Fun fact, I didn't know anything about Client Ascension or who Daniel Fazio was previous to starting this. And for some reason, one of the case studies from AI-assisted agency showed up on my YouTube homepage, like on December 27th. And from there I watched like 2, 3, 4 case study interviews and I was like, okay, doesn't look like a scam. The guy is not making any disclaimer that you're going to like win the lottery or anything like that. So I just went through the rabbit hole, booked a call. I was like, why not? Joined. First month I tried Ads and Funnels. Following your advice, I just pivoted from that and in February started doing cold email. Right away started like seeing very quick success, like book calls right away consistently. Actually closed my first client just on a third call. So like right away close clients, but then went like on a drought of like 1 month just getting like sales calls consistently every single month, but not closing 1 single client. And then exploded in like March and April, booked like 45 sales calls in March, added like 6, 7 new clients. And yeah, it's all fun and games after that.
Yeah, nice. Sounds good. So what is your business model? Like, what are you selling clients?
So basically we do cold outbound. We started only with cold email, but right now we're doing cold email and LinkedIn outreach. So basically we We connect any B2B service that's looking for anybody that wants to buy their product or service. That's basically it. So we work with B2B SaaS, financial services, marketing agencies, staffing agencies, multiple other types of businesses.
Nice. And did you do any kind of like make money online stuff before you joined this, or was this like your very first exposure to this at all?
Well, if you could call e-commerce make money online type of thing, I would say that was like my only previous business experience. But like, this is like my first like full-on marketing sales type of experience. Like, I'm a big Hormozy fan, always was, but never had like the opportunity to explore anything like this, to like be or have a business where I have to sell and know how to market. Because like in my previous career, I've always worked like in Fortune 500 companies and I was in engineering. So like sales and marketing was like completely opposite to my current job, or like I never got along with it. So this was like my first time to like be exposed to it and like actively do it.
Yeah, and like just to have something like a product or a service to sell and like know how to fulfill it.
Yeah, yeah, 100%.
Were you working full-time just before this? Like, how did that all work?
I joined, I was still working full-time. I actually quit my job like 2 months ago, and I didn't actually quit my job because I had to. It was just I was having too many sales calls. So at the time, it was like kind of hating the, the, the context switching of having to like jump into a sales call and then jump into calls from like meetings from my actual jobs. I was like, I'm just going to go full time into this. And, uh, yeah, I mean, it's been amazing since then.
Is that when you started kind of blowing up?
Like, I was not even doing that much revenue when I quit my job. I was probably doing like less than $10K. It was just like, at that point in my mind, it was like, I already had the confidence of like, this is inevitable. I'm not going to stop and it's not going to change. Therefore, it just makes sense to quit and go like full throttle, like really double down. So yeah, that was basically it.
Nice. That's pretty dope. So walk me through going from, like, because you were trying ads and funnels and then you started selling lead gen through cold email first. Like, what was the reasoning behind that? If you could explain it to the people, like, and kind of like what I told you and like what you came to the conclusion of.
I actually didn't even start selling ads and funnels because I was just going through all the content in the course and like warming up my email infrastructure. And by the time like everything was ready and I was about to launch, I jumped on one of your calls. And you literally obliterated me when you saw my offer and you were like, okay, do you have experience? And I was like, no, this is the first time I do this. And you asked me like, up front, like, do you even know how to deliver this? That was like my wake-up moment of like, oh, I don't know how to deliver this. So that was the moment of like, okay, everything you said makes sense, which is basically if you're a beginner, it's hard to sell the ad spend and your retainer at the same time. Like if you don't have any case studies to show for even if you do everything for free, it's kind of hard because like B2B sales is very logical. You're not going to really have that case to like justify people giving you that amount of money. Like even if it's just the ad spend, like they're like really risking losing a lot of money.
Yeah, cold email is cheaper. So it's just an easier thing to sell when you go and have paid stuff.
It's just so easy to sell.
Walk us through that real quick about like how easy that actually is to sell and kind of like your experience being able to sell that as somebody who's never even done sales at all. Because that's a lot of people who are like, that's something they're concerned about before they start? Is there like, well, I don't know if I'll be able to sell a client or like, or they'll think like, I don't know if I'm going to be able to deliver for a client. Using like what the support and everything inside of Client Ensenja, an AI-assisted agency, like, could you describe us from a third party? So it isn't coming from me, like how we were able to help you be able to do that.
It's just reps and it's just like volume. It's just like brutal amount of volume. Like most people who picture you on the internet, that it's all sunshine and rainbows and that you're going to be in Miami on a beach making six figures a month. By just working 2 hours a week. I 100% can vouch for what you usually say. People that are making it, they're not making like 2x or 3x more the amount of work that you're making. They're making like 100x the amount of work and volume that you're making. Like, it just takes so much. You have to like suck so much on sales calls to be able to like understand the patterns and like know how to close people. You really have to send a lot of crappy emails until you like find, okay, this is what works. So much stuff that you have to test to be able to like really understand what converts. And I I think that's the most valuable thing out of Client Ascension itself. Like, after it, I completely feel like never in my life I will be poor or need anything else from anybody because I have the ability to identify a cold traffic offer that converts, know why it converts, know how to make it even more sexy, know how to sell it on a sales call to a stranger who doesn't know anything about me, and then how to fulfill for it. And if I want to scale, how to hire people and like actually build a company.
Yeah, to build an actual real business behind it. I always find that so interesting where there's a lot of people who they might think, I want to resell AI tools. Like, I don't want to build an agency like this. I want to resell AI tools. And it's like what they're not conceptually understanding is that that doesn't work to build a real business. Like, you're never going to make ever in your life a lot of money reselling an AI tool. What ends up happening is if you're doing the hard thing, like build a proper business, you end up making money more easily in the long run. Exactly like you say, if you know a cold traffic offer, you know how to sell it, like you'd never be poor again. You just get how to like spawn money out of thin air.
Yeah, definitely.
So walk us through, are you now like kind of like making more than you've ever made in your life?
Or like, no, not really. Like I'm an engineer and I come from like a Fortune 500 world. So like relative to what I was making, you're still at that level. Yeah, probably a little bit more, probably a little bit less. It depends on how the month is going, but like nothing crazy yet. Like probably once I like double or triple this, we can like have that conversation.
Yeah, obviously you've been to a lot of my calls and like I've spoken to you a lot. You've always kind of had like a proper expectation about everything where it's like, oh yeah, I'm not like, I know that this is going to take a ton of work and I'm going to get out exactly what I put into it. But you're hitting like a very healthy trajectory of having like a very like good business here. So it's like 5 months you hit, you hit $20K a month and it's like in a year, it might be like $60,000, which is like, at that point you're hopefully taking home like over $40,000. And that's how long it takes. There's a lot of people who think that they're just going to make a bajillion dollars in like their third month or something like that. It just doesn't work out like that. It's like someone said this at some point, as fast as something goes up, it can go down just as quick. And that tends to be how things I've observed people's businesses to be. It's like you really want to build it like slow and in a very healthy way.
Cash flow maxing.
Yeah, no. Yeah, exactly. It's cash flow maxing. All right. So let's say there's someone who's starting in your position. They're working a job and they're watching. They're doing exactly what you did. Like, they maybe they reached this interview or they're seeing some of my content. They're like, no, I'm kind of thinking about doing this. What would you give to them as a piece of advice? Or like, it even just like expect this to happen. Like, this was my experience doing this. This was different than I thought. You have to get like anecdotes like that.
I could probably sum it up in a sentence. Violence is the only way. Like, you just got to be violently pursuing it. Like whatever people tell you, like send 1,000 emails a day or like send this couple DMs, like do like 25x that. That's what I would have told myself like when I started and I went pretty ballistic right away, but like I would have been even further if like, if I would have like burned even more hours and like send even more volume, like it just takes reps and reps and reps. So just put them as early as possible. So you can get to the point that you want to be as soon as possible.
Yep. Makes sense. Appreciate you coming on, bro. If anyone wants to connect with Brian, I'm going to leave links to all of his stuff in the description. You can hit him up. And if you want to join AI Assisted Agency, that'll be in the description as well. Thanks for coming, bro. Appreciate it.
Thank you.
