A short YouTube excerpt by Daniel Fazio arguing that fear of negative comments prevents people from creating content online. He uses a club analogy—being quiet when alone but loud with a group—to illustrate that social support (having people on your side) makes it easier to be active on social media and that some people forget the social aspect of social media.

So here's the thing about anyone who decides to give themselves a voice on the Internet and garner attention towards themselves. You're always very shy. And this is actually why people never make content online, is they're scared of people being mean in the comments. Let me give you an analogy. Have you ever gone to a club alone? Yes. Okay, so what happens when you walk into a club alone? You are not particularly loud. You're not drawing attention to yourself. Now compare this to when you walk into a club with 20 people and you have two tables, bunch of girls, you guys got bottles coming out, you are very loud. So why is it that when you walk in with a bunch of people, you're very loud, but when you're by yourself, you're not? In order for you to not be scared about the mean comments, you have to have people who are on your side. Now the problem when people walk onto social media, they forget about the social part.
