Dave Willis teaches from Ephesians 4:31-32 on kindness and forgiveness in marriage. He argues that spouses will inevitably disappoint each other, making forgiveness not optional but essential to a resilient relationship.
Chapters
In the book of Ephesians, chapter 4, verses 31 and 32, it says this. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God, through Christ, has forgiven you. And I just love this verse. We've quoted this many times in our talks, especially on communication, because in marriage, also in our walk as Christians, we need to do this right. We don't need to be bitter, we don't need to be full of anger. Definitely not saying harsh words or slandering our spouse or anybody else. And then, you know, just being kind and tender and obviously forgiving one another. We're gonna have to do that a lot. Like, there's gonna have to be a lot of forgiveness in marriage. And if you're newly married and you don't think so, I just. I hate to burst the bubble, but your spouse will let you down one day, and you're going to let them down, too, and you're gonna have to forgive each other.
