You can do this and grow in your knowledge of the Bible. And we hope that this has spurred some really convert really good conversations for you and your spouse. But today, day 65, we are in Jude, chapter one, verse seven. It says this and don't forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God's judgment.
I picked a feel good verse for this one. It's kind of like one of those Hallmark card Christian Hallmark card verses.
I feel like the church lady on SNL loved this verse. Isn't that special?
This is my favorite verse. It's about hellfire and damnation and you don't know what the church lady is.
Look it up on YouTube. It is the best. Dana Carvey is Church Lady. It's so good.
It's good. Yeah, it's good. And yeah, this is a bold and convicting verse, but we've had a lot of just the encouragement verses and we need those. But I do think it's also important to remember that, like that God has, He has standards that must be. And God will not be mocked, the Bible says. And we live in a culture that is mocking the standards of God through sexual perversion, through brokenness, through outright rebellion, open rebellion, celebration of sin in the face of God. And God is. He's slow to anger and he is so patient and he wants everybody to come to him. But there will always be a reckoning. You know, every sin, I've heard it said, every sin will be paid for either on the cross or in hell. And all of us have sinned and we get to choose where that sin is going to be paid for. We can trust Jesus with it on the cross and live our lives his way after making that decision, or we can continue to live in open rebellion and ultimately pay that debt that can never fully be repaid through eternity. And that's not a pretty reality, but it's a biblical reality. And we would be irresponsible if we didn't mention that.
Exactly, because it is in scripture. I mean, this is part of it. There are consequences, right? Eternal consequences. And I think, you know, Sodom and Gomorrah and Old Testament, you know, this happened. And being just destroyed, which were two.
Cities that lived in open sexual depravity.
Yes.
And homosexuality was a big part of that. Just all kinds, any kind of sexual sin you can imagine. And God ultimately just judged them in fire. I mean, it was a picture of God's judgment on a broader scale when people live in open outright rebellion.
Right? And saying like, we can't act like this is okay and that we have to know that God is just, that he has standards and that right is right and wrong is wrong. And again, I think it's just, it's hard for some of us to swallow this because we do live in a world that says there's no truth. And also, even in Christian circles, you, Jesus, Jesus loved, you know, he wanted all to come. And you know, it's. I want to make it very clear too, like even, you know, current day homosexual people, they can come to Jesus too.
Absolutely.
Jesus loves them.
He loves you. If you're listening 100%, he loves you. It is not his desire to pour out his wrath on you. He wants to invite you into his loving arms, but you've got to trust him. And not the world's way, the world's way of convincing you that your identity, that your very soul is somehow wrapped up in this sexual identity. That's. That's not God's plan for you.
Right. And it's, you know, I think that it's in the church. It's hard to approach this, especially with things like Sodom and Gomorrah. And it's not even just homosexuality. We talked about bestiality earlier. We talked about it said sexual perversion was the word that used in this verse. These Verses any sex outside pornography, outside.
The covenant of marriage, the robot thing, one man and one woman, Any, you know, just selfish sexual act, even if another person's not present. I mean, you can sin sexually where.
It'S not God's best for us because sex is meant to be within the union of marriage between one man and one woman and only in that marital union, not bringing anything into the marital bed, another person or any other thing or virtual in our day and age. It's just saying there are standards when it comes to sex and that there's also consequences. And I know the fire is alarming, but really, you know, God could consume whatever's going on in some sexually perverted area on earth today in a fire if he wanted to. But really it's the fire inside of us. It can destroy us, you know, inside. And we've seen this like, we've seen where people get caught up in these kind of lifestyles. And even in marriages today, like we have, we get written from people where, you know, they're married, but they're a sex addict and they're getting with prostitutes and they're going to strip clubs all the time and. Or they're meeting up with people online and just going and sleeping with them and it just tearing the themselves apart and then tearing their family apart. You know, we see people caught in a pornography addiction where they feel ashamed.
And the Bible has so much hope for all of us. Even that the Book of Hosea, which was in an earlier episode where he married a prostitute and there was that habitual sin of prostitution and sexual depravity. And God said, that's a picture of how we treat God, that we cheat on God, that we're unfaithful, but yet he pursues us with his love and grace and his mercy. And so these verses about hell and about judgment and all this, all of the Bible, even the verses that seem a little scary, they're meant to point us to the goodness of God and His grace and what Jesus did for us on the cross to pay the price for all of our sin, past, present and future. So you don't have to live in shame or condemnation. Live with Jesus, turn it over to him, receive the grace that he offers so freely, receive that gift by faith and then walk in the freedom of it. And that's our hope and prayer for all of us. And I hope through this whole journey you guys have grown closer to the Lord. I know we have. It's been a journey that's really encouraged us in our faith. But don't stop short of the finish line because Tomorrow is day 66. The book of Revelation.
Revelation.
Don't miss it. We'll see you tomorrow.
