A short sermon excerpt by Dave Willis citing 1 Thessalonians 4:3–5 to teach that God's will is sexual holiness. Willis contrasts the church's countercultural sexual ethics with 'the world's way', affirms sex within marriage as a gift, and instructs unmarried listeners to abstain and honor God's design.
Chapters
First Thessalonians, chapter 4, verses 3 and 5, says this. God's will for you is to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will have control over his own body and live in holiness and honor, not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and God's ways. So it's a call for us to be different when it comes to sex. And in the early church, this is one of the things that set the early church apart was sexually. They decided to do things God's way and not the world's way. And the world's way was so wrong that when you didn't do it that way, it really stood out. In marriage, have sex, enjoy sex. It's a gift. You have a lot of freedom. If you're not married, then respect your body, respect others, respect God's view for marriage, and don't have sex. So God's plan for your sex life is don't have sex before you're married, have a bunch of sex after you're married.
