CHINA: Exploring Shenzhen After Dark - Amazing Street Food Experience (Part 8)!

A walk through Shenzhen's Chenxing Street at night shows packed street food stalls, karaoke bars, and 95-98% electric vehicles on the roads. The host argues China's economy is thriving, pointing to BYD, Aion, the stock exchange, and constant high-rise construction as proof the collapse narrative is wrong.

with you. Uh, let me switch the screen here for you guys to see where I am. I am near the Chenxing Street. This is like a very, very busy area. It's like the heart of part of Shenzhen, of course. But what I'm gonna be doing is I'm gonna be walking through the streets here to take you to the, uh, it's almost like a main street where you have a real flavor of what Shenzhen is all about, including food stands, uh, the people playing karaoke, and, and there's a lot, a lot of activities. So, so this is what I'm going to be, uh, sharing with you in this video, as I told you. And I'll talk to you about Shenzhen a little bit because again, I will be off to my next destination tomorrow. So we'll keep it a surprise. Okay guys, there is a reason to why I do this because I want you Just wait, keep it a surprise. You will know. And I have a surprise for you, by the way, guys. You will like it. So, so I'm gonna switch the screen here for you to see this, the streets, nightlife. Look at this bridge here, guys. Check this out. I mean, if you can tell anything about a country's economy, because we all know in the West it's been said, well, the economy of China is going down and all that. It's nonsense. I am here because I am— I am— I know what to look for. If there were— if there were any signs of an economy going down, you would have seen shops closed. You would have seen restaurants with less people in it. You would have seen malls with hardly anybody there. And that is not the case because anytime I walk around, things are packed. And wait till we get to the streets where— and you'll see. I'm gonna switch here just for you guys to see the amount of traffic that's going on right here. And as you know, it's the weekend. Uh, for China's work week is Monday through Friday, so, uh, that's usually how it is. And, and, uh This is where, this is where, for example, uh, the weekend people is coming out, you know, enjoying their time with their families and loved ones. And, and what I noticed, one thing, by the way, guys, this morning when I woke up early and I went out for a walk, you know, this sense of family, you know, the parents taking their kids, uh, just for whatever reasons they're taking them for. And it's just, you, you get this feeling of it's a family-oriented society, and I can see why. I really can see why. And, and, and it just— I admire that one. So, but first, let me talk to you about Shenzhen, what I've learned so far. Of course, the city, if you go back 30 years ago This is when I wish I could have talked to someone, an elderly who've seen the changes for the last 30 years. They will be better equipped to provide that kind of knowledge. So, but for Shenzhen, the way used to be, which was known as a, you know, there's a lot of farmlands and so forth, not anymore for the massive amount of developments that this city has witnessed, you know. Of course, it is— it's located in the southeastern part of China. It is about 20, I think 25, 26 kilometers north of Hong Kong. The traffic between Hong Kong and Shenzhen is closer, uh, but, but the massive transformation— of course, uh, it's known for technology. Now, I cannot say conclusively that it is considered the technological center of the world, and the reason why is I haven't done enough research yet to sort of confirm that. So, so I'm gonna ask you guys a question. In your opinion, do you think Shenzhen is the technological capital of the world? Yes or no? If you will be kind and just type in that in the chat box. So motorcycles right here, uh, if, if you notice, people are waiting to cross the streets. So everything is in orderly fashion, and I, and I admire that one. Here is gentleman here with his kids right here, so they are just walking around. So we're going to be crossing over And oh, you say— let me put my reading glasses on because I can't— I have to cross quick here, guys. Let me see here. You're saying yes. Uh, who else saying, uh, yes, definitely? So I, I can see, uh, to me, at least I noticed the changes, uh, going on. I just couldn't say, uh, or confirm that one because I haven't done enough research. Yeah, check this out, guys. Look at little girls dancing right here at night. Check this out. Just everybody's happy. Everybody has— everybody's happy. Everybody has like a positive energy. This is the key. Check this out, guys. Very, very nice. Everybody's happy dancing. Look at that. And this is part of the nightlife here. This is the traditional dance, I believe. Yeah, look at that. So, so, so anyway, for Shenzhen, the transformation that it, that it acquired in the last 2 or 3 decades It is incredible. Today I went over to near the harbor. What I noticed was the construction of high-rising buildings. Yeah, China is building that. So to me it was like, if the economy is bad, why will the country move forward with the construction of more buildings, tall high-rising buildings and so forth? And, and that's part of what that transformation is all about. And this is why when you think about Guangdong Province as a whole, that includes Shenzhen and Guangzhou, to my knowledge, uh, the Guangdong Province is very crucial to China's economy. So, and again, when you take Shenzhen, you think in terms of the technology. So if you guys agree that it is the, uh, the technological center of the world, another word for Silicon Valley, Then that's what it is, and I can see why. For example, all the vehicles that I am— about 95%, yeah, I will go even as high as 98% are all of them electric. It's so quiet. And you saw the example that I did for you this morning as far as the BYD vehicle. I, I made the stop elsewhere for another type of vehicles called Aion T27., and I will share that with you later on. Very, very incredible. Very incredible. So I gotta wait till this motorcycle passes by here because they drive on the sidewalk, but that's normal for here in, in China. Uh, Dr. O, is there a drone show? I didn't see this one here. I think it's gonna be tomorrow at night. But I am leaving in midday, so I won't be able to see it this time around. Remember guys, it's my first trip to China. I am sure I will be back here. Rest assured, because this is what I feel. Uh, uh, I'm gonna be back here. So when you take a trip to a foreign country for the first time, you explore the basics. No, the one thing I can tell you is coming here, I didn't feel nervous. I didn't feel concerned. I didn't feel whatever. It felt like a ride home, if I may use the term, even though I don't speak Chinese. I wish I would have learned Mandarin, but it is what it is. So life goes on. And that's just a part of why I decided to come over to Shenzhen here because it's the— it's the importance— something is clicking here, I don't know the sound for, I think pedestrian or something. Uh, what was I gonna say? Now I forgot. It's the— as I said, it's the importance of the city for the Chinese economy. That is why it's important. So I'm gonna show you some high-rising building here so you can— guys can see So I'm gonna raise it up. Check this out. So— oh, the picture is blurry. Uh, I don't know what to do about that. So also, Dr. O, Shenzhen has been building up its own universities. Uh, that is true. I passed by Shenzhen University on when I was coming back from the harbor. I was hoping to— the time goes by here, guys, so fast. I don't know why. I was hoping to make stop at the financial district because here's the thing: do you know that Shenzhen Stock Exchange is considered one of the top in the world? So this is why the financial aspects exist in this town, in Shenzhen. So, uh, beside Shanghai— Shanghai is the financial also hub for China, but also Shenzhen right here. So, so there's a lot of, a lot of families out here, as you notice. So everybody— this is like some major restaurants here. I don't know what the name here in Chinese says, but that's what it is. So a lot, a lot of families going out on the weekend. Just to enjoy. That's, that's the way they do. So it's very nice here, very enjoyable. There are no issues, there's security all over, so you don't have to worry about anything. And to those once again who argued what, there are too many cameras, yeah, think about it in terms of the technological advancements. And yes, of course, the safety, which is part of it as well. I mean, won't you want that? To go and be safe wherever you go. So, so we're gonna go up this, uh, uh, stairs here because I want to walk you through a bridge just for you to see the diversity that existed. When I see diversity, I'm referring to not only the type of people but also the infrastructure. The, the one thing that I noticed that is not common here is English language. I'm sure there are people who speak English. It's just, uh, very different than Shanghai, for example, as an example. But so far, the people that I met here, they were just kind. They smile in their own way, say hi in their own way, and that's about it. So nothing wrong with that, you know. Look at, guys, look at the restaurants here, guys. Everything is packed here, so So check this out. So to those who say, well, the economy is collapsing, that ain't true, that ain't true, because I am seeing it right here. So we're gonna go to, uh, I'm going up the stairs here so you'll see. This is a covered staircase here, so we'll go up and cross on a Passover or the bridge, bypass, overpass rather. Then we're gonna get into the traditional area here, part of Shenzhen. Very, very interesting, uh, uh, place. I saw it yesterday. I wanted to check it out first before I'll do live for you guys to see, and that's how I always do things here. So We'll be walking here. Check this out, guys. I'm going to just show you. Oh, sorry. Just like, this is like a traffic here as the other bridge. So, and just everybody, uh, uh, check this out. It's says Dongmen Dian Joyous City. Very, very, very interesting here. So you got the, uh, street vendors, they're selling a few things here if you notice. Yeah, those are just street vendors, they have some stuff that they want to sell and so forth. But so we're just crossing over here and we're going to get into the main, the main streets where the action is, because that's nightlife. Uh, it just— that's how it is, especially on a weekend. So I'm gonna move on this side here, guys, so because people coming on that side. This is the overpass. I'm gonna show you right here. Check it out. This is the overpass. Yeah, right there. Yeah, so, uh, regarding, uh, one thing as far as, uh, homeless people and so forth, I, I literally noticed one, and, and probably maybe the person is mentally challenged or something, but the same, uh, uh, uh, way we have it in the state No, I didn't see that one at all. At all. So, so it was a reason for why it was a reason for why China raised about 750 million people out of— from poverty, rather. So, so we got into an area here where we're going to be seeing more traffic here and soon you will see the action. Uh, sorry guys, I have to speak loud here because it's very, very loud. I hope you can hear me. Please just give me a thumbs up if you can hear me clearly. Yeah, if you can just give me a thumbs up, please. Uh, oh, thank you, Kevin. Thank you, guys. Appreciate it, appreciate it. It's very loud here, so, but, but again, it comes with the territory and I'm okay with it because that's the beauty of it. And that's the whole idea what I want to show you guys. It's the daily life, you know. I know buildings and, and all that stuff is great and all that, but you need to see the daily life here. You need to see the activities, you need to see part of the culture, you need to see how the interaction within society. All those are very, very important to understand the society, because like we always say, to understand a society, you have to live within it, right? Well, I'm on a trip here. My trip is very limited as far as time, but that doesn't mean we can't check it out. And this is what I wanted, this is what I wanted to show you. So, so we're gonna be going into the— I don't know the name of the street here, but it won't matter. So, so you're gonna see a lot of activities once we cross over into the other side. So very important, very important to understand this dynamics. And I, again, as I said, my purpose of the trip was about facts, findings. That is the reason why I decided to come here, and because of your help and support, we guys made it happen. So that is the whole point of it. Uh, I do see a little bit— some foreigners here, not a lot, but, uh, Xinjiang is, uh— hey guys, check this out! I'm going to walk you through here, through the streets. Yeah, there are some Indians here, I noticed. I noticed. So we're gonna walk over here, and, uh, with all the lighting and everything, so the street foods all over, we're gonna— I'm gonna stop by and grab a skewer or something. It is what I want to try, uh, uh, I, I never tried it before, but I want to try what you call them, squid. It's a big deal here in China that you get the skewer of squid, and, and they're fine. And so I'm gonna try it. As far as the stinky tofu, I am not gonna try it here. I'm gonna try it in one specific location that is famous for— so that should give you a hint as far as my next location. So, oh, there's a lot of traffic here. And that's normal, guys, that's normal. So once again, this is like, uh, and I was here yesterday, it was as crowded as it is today. So, and we didn't even get to the heart of the area that I'm taking you to because I want you to see this part. And again, as I promised you, I will do a video for you because also I'm leaving tomorrow. Let me show you some stands here just to have an idea, and I'm gonna stop by later on and try something here. So yeah, this is where they make some, I think, lemon tea. Okay, this is all the type of the skewer. Check it out, guys. All this type here. And hello, I will try one later. She said hello. Oh, excuse me. See guys, here's the type of food here. So yeah, they prepare this food right here. Right here, he's preparing in front of— okay, so, uh, I'm gonna step out in outside here because the sidewalk is packed. So in middle of the road here, it's a little bit, uh, once again, it's just the activities of a lot of people here. They're coming over to enjoy their weekend here. They're eating out. And hello, he's waving to me. The reason there are a lot of motorbikes, those are the food— those are the food delivery. They deliver food to different places. So here, check this out, guys. All those motorcycles, uh, I don't know what you call them here, motorbikes, small ones. They are known here that they deliver the food when they order down on there. So there's some young guys here. Hi! Yeah, those are young people. Hello! We just— I'm gonna cross over and let this gentleman drive here. Here we go. All right, so once again, here is the I just want to show you. It's a lot of energy here, guys. It's really, really real. You can feel and sense. And to me personally, this is why I get excited. I know some think that— it's just, you get excited when you see this, you know, the vibes, the energy of it. That's so exciting, and you become part of that. You don't know why, it just is. And you allow yourself to feel that. And that's exactly how I feel now being here. So, so let me switch this one again for you guys to see, and I will keep going. Uh, so even nice flowers. So is this lady sells flower right here. Check this out, nice flowers here. There's the motorbikes. All right, let me see what's next to show you before we go get some skewer, because I wanna— I want you to see. I'll try one in front of you guys if I get to the place. Hey, just a lot of activities here. So, and again, everybody's respectful of everybody else. There's security present here, uh, you don't have to about being mugged or somebody's gonna attack you, whatever. For me as a foreigner, I didn't even think of that at all, at all. It's just the whole idea of how everybody is just walking around, street cleaners doing their job, and restaurants are open, and everybody is supposed to do whatever he or she's supposed to do, but with respect to everybody else. So that's, that's just how, how it works here. So, all right, let me see one other place here if I can get to it, because that's where I checked yesterday. A lot of people don't like to have their faces on the camera, especially when I'm facing out, and I kind of respect that. That's why I move the camera, guys, when I When somebody is walking into my direction and I can see them putting their hands on their faces, whatever, I'll move out of their way out of respect for them because it's the right thing to do. I don't assume— a lot of people here do not want to be on the camera. Maybe they're shy, whatever their reason is. I have to be respectful of that. Simple as that. Okay, this is another area of, uh, wow, look at that, it's just so much. And that's the norm, guys, that's the norm here. So, so you tell me, if an economy is going down, will you see this many? I don't think so. That's just how— there's the taxi here, let him pass. Wow, it's just traffic all over the place. But that's like— they just smile with— smiled with me or at me, whatever. That's their way of saying hi without saying hi, because again, not everybody speaks English and that's the way they communicate. And I'm okay with that and I appreciate it. I truly appreciate them, you know, taking the effort into that. And, and that's fine. That is fine. So, so the one thing that I need to talk to you briefly about is the idea of when I see stuff like this, I couldn't stop but wonder What will become of China-US relations moving forward? Because here is the thing that I need you to understand. Me seeing this, it gives me a sense that the Chinese will have to think hard about their strategy moving forward. It's not that they are afraid of the West. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, not at all. It's just the prosperity of their people, the investments that has been made for the people. And this is something that upsets me about my own country. When I say country, I'm referring to the government. So I wish we could improve. I know it's very loud here, guys. I have to get closer to the phone for for you to hear because it, it just— look at that, look at that, guys. So it's just so many people, so many people here. And that is one of the things I wished, I wished my country can do. It's improve the lives of Americans. It's improve the infrastructures. It's improved the way we live. But I don't think so because our system is corrupted to the core. And that is sad. Saddens me, really saddens me when I see all this. When I see all this here, I just— it saddens. But it's the reality, it is what it is. Yeah, I remember walked through here. So I'm going to cross over to the food place here because I want to get that skewer. I know a lot of, a lot of people do not want to be seen here on the camera. Yeah, check this out, guys. So check it out, this gentleman is preparing the skewer here. All the type of pork, beef, and I think is, uh, squid. This one here is the squid. It smells so good, by the way. Very, very, very good. So I know one place, one woman, one lady, she makes the food here, and that's what I'm heading out to because yesterday I was here and I saw it with my own eyes. So we're gonna go try that one there. She has the same thing, uh, and I'm gonna try some of that one there. So once again, they're doing some construction here, uh, very, very interesting aspects of, of this side here. So, so on this side here is a little quieter than the other one over there because the other one is the main sort of street, if you will. This one here is quieter. And that's the— that's just how they're doing some construction here, guys, and it's gonna be done here soon. Hopefully next time I come back here, check it out. Because if I ever come back to Shenzhen— uh, uh, uh, Shenzhen, I'm sorry— I'm gonna have to go back near the harbor because they are working on some high-rise building, and I wanted to see how fast they're gonna complete those constructions. Because if I make it within a year back here, uh, it will be interesting to see that. And I'll make an effort to come back here, even though if I— when I come back here, I need to go see some other places like Xinjiang, for example, like Tibet. Like, I like to visit those. It's because of what's been mentioned about the lies that Western media is disclosing about those locations. So, and like I said, I'm here on fact-finding and I'm seeing a different reality. Those who have been saying the Chinese economy is collapsing, it's not true. It is not true, guys. It is not true. For the amount of traffic that I'm seeing outside, for the amount of infrastructure, for the amount of, you know, high-rise buildings for how people are sort of spending their day. And just, uh, you know, it's just— so I don't see where is this argument is coming from as far as the economy is collapsing. Yeah, I just don't see it. So this section here, guys, is for just clothing and all that stuff. Uh, this is for a wig for whomever is interested. I'm joking with you guys. So that is very, very nice here. So it's, uh, I, I like it. I like it here. So very interesting. Uh, this one here is a different type of, of, of food. If you notice, those are like the jelly, the ones we have at home. They make, uh, very, very, very different types. So you can— they make you like a bowl, I think, with the, with the fruit, and you add the stuff to it. So, uh, I am getting closer to my location here, and I'm gonna get a squid. So it's hard to remember where the location is, but it's not that bad. So So guys, did you like the video about the BYD? What did you like about it? What you did not like about it? I know, by the way, one of you guys mentioned, uh, that I, that I needed to have my mic. Yeah, I forgot it. I'm sorry. So, uh, it's, it's a learning process, you know. This is an easy So it's kind of you learn as you go along, and the way you learn is by making mistakes, and you learn from this. So, so it's getting better now that, for example, I got this, uh, stabilizer. I will be doing live streams for you from the United— when I, when I'm back home, because I, as I mentioned last time, I need to show you a few things that you need to be aware of. Oh, you drive a BYD. That's so good. By the way, what was about some statements by what's his name, Richard Wolff, that described BYD in a negative way? Are you guys familiar with that? I just saw a comment from one of you that the term that was used was was derogatory. Anybody know anything about this one here, guys? If you do, if you can type it in the chat box. Look, look at this stuff here, guys. Look at that one. Oh, I read your comment about India claiming that the century belong to India. I respectfully disagree with Prime Minister Modi, uh, because India is not prepared for that role. India does not have the infrastructure to sustain that development. India does not have the capacity to manage, uh, uh, its role within the global system. So That's what I believe where the difference is going to be. India, if India wants to succeed, and I've said this too many times, guys, and I'm gonna repeat myself again. If India wants to succeed, I hope somebody, some official from India is watching this video. Here's the thing, if India wants to succeed, it needs to sit down with China, okay? Work out their differences and embark on strategic discussions and put on paper what they want to achieve. That's the only way. Otherwise, India is going to be just talking. And we all know what it means when someone does just the talking versus the action. So, so So here's the place where we're gonna go, where I'm gonna go and have the squid, because this lady, I came here yesterday, and, uh, so that's where I see the difference. If India wants to succeed, otherwise— hello! See, he's saying hello. So, and he only— guys, check it out, this is the— have all the type of food here, so But the woman that made me yesterday is right here. Uh, uh, that one. So Hello, how are you? Uh, this one with— I want to show her. I want to— I don't speak the language. I want this one, shrimp dumpling with shrimp, please. Yes, shrimp. Uh, yes, this one, shrimp for me. Okay. All right, how much? Yeah, shrimp, right? Let me see. Yeah, yeah, it's good, it's good. How much is that? Oh, okay, I got some money here for you. It's 15 yuan. I have to pay in yuan. I, I don't have— hold on, hold on. Yeah, I don't have small change, sir. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, excuse me. That's okay, that's okay, okay. I just gave her a 100 yuan bill, and for them they just deal with a small number. Yeah, okay, let me, let me sit down here and try this one. Oh man, it's hot. It's hot. All right, I'm going to sit down here, guys, and just, uh, it's going to— she, uh, let me, let me— there we go. I'm going to, I'm going to sit down here and just eat this one quickly here, then I'll go finish my walk. Okay, so hopefully it will work. All right, let me just sit down here. Uh, perfect. Yes, can you guys see me right? No? There we go. So because— let me see what you guys Play our own role in the dark or in the dark dogs. We can translate for you. Oh, thank you very much. It is hot. I burned my finger. I didn't realize it was so hot. So, but that's okay. Uh, the video resolution is not good. Yeah, sometimes. I don't know why. Okay. Uh, yeah, guys. Please keep it nice in the chat box about India. So no need for, for, you know, I will greatly appreciate it, guys, if you can keep the conversation civil. You know, I'm just addressing for why was the issue for India not to claim its status as, uh, sort of this century belongs to India. It does not. But please, I will appreciate it if anybody can, you know, no need for, uh, uh, being negative or whatever. So we'll keep it civil in, in, in our, uh, chat box. Oh, this tank is so hot! I'm going to get the chopstick. Shishi! Oh, I don't know if they serve sauce with this or not, but I'm going to try it, guys. So here it is. It's probably very, very hot, so I can't, uh, uh, let me try, let me try it. Wow, very hot, very, very, very, very hot. So, so I'm going to wait till it cools off a little bit while I'm talking to you just to finish up my conversation here. So as I mentioned earlier, guys, I will be leaving tomorrow to my next destination, and that's why I wanted to do this video for you. And I'll do the same on the next location. I always like to do the shorts, okay? This way you know where I am. Second, I do the video, uh, a live stream as soon as I get in, and I do a video when I am about to leave the location. So let me read what you guys saying. Yeah, okay. And once again, guys, thank you very much for keeping the conversation civil. I'm very grateful to you. And, uh, I'm gonna have a surprise for you, so I'm gonna eat up here. Yeah, this thing comes off so quick. Yeah, this one is shrimp, guys. That's what they put in. So funny, the The dumplings here are very different than the one back home. I had one time way back to try the dumplings back in Dallas. I didn't like it, so I never, I never ate there again. But this one is very, very good, so, so I'm gonna By the way, excuse me, some of you guys asked me to go to Huawei. Uh, it's very far out, won't be, won't be able to make it. Same thing with BYD factory. You can't just walk in. And I even thought about headquarters, but headquarters I won't be able to show you the car. Headquarters is just administrative, no more, no less. That is the reason why I didn't bother with it. So, uh, she didn't give me the vinegar, so I won't bother with it. I know it tastes very good with it, but I'm okay eating it as is, so it's not a problem. And I'm still, by the way guys, I'm still following my own regime as far as eating 2 meals a day. That's it. I can't, uh, sometimes I only eat one and that's enough for me. So Oh God, sorry. Uh, I'm gonna take one question or two, guys, before I sign off here. It's because it's almost, uh, I did 45 Soy sauce. Yeah, next time, next time I'll try it. So, self-driving bus, I didn't get on it yet. That one is gonna be in, uh, in, uh, Shenzhen when I go back. As to Jerry, yes, I heard about the hospital part. I communicate with Jerry offline. So, uh, what else there? Yes, but he's in Zhongshan. Yeah. Yeah, there's not a lot of food. That's, that's enough for me, guys. I don't eat much, you know. No. So anyway, I, uh, I look forward to chatting with you from my next location tomorrow, or the next day, or the following day rather. In the, in the meantime, uh, I appreciate you guys for being here. I appreciate your kind support, and I look forward to chatting with you again. As always, remember Geopolitics impacts your daily life in more ways than one. Till next time, guys. Bye-bye.
