Iran Bombs Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar! Geopolitical Trends!

Iran launched missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, home to the largest U.S. air installation in the Middle East. The host analyzes why Iran chose this target, what Qatar's claim of intercepting the missiles signals to Tehran and Washington, and how the attack fits into broader U.S.-Iran-Israel tensions.

All right, hello everybody and welcome to Geopolitical Trends, where truth matters. Excited to be with you once again. Uh, today I will be talking to you, providing you my own analysis about what took place yesterday, uh, when Iran went ahead and launched an attack, or bombed, or whatever term you want to use, uh, Al Udeid, uh, Air Base in Qatar, in Doha. So very, very important dynamics. And in this, uh, in this live stream, I'm going to be providing you as to the significance of, uh, this particular, uh, attack by Iran, but also what message is Iran sending and to whom, of course. So before I do this, let me say hi to our wonderful community. As always, Willie Homan, good to see you. Liang Noel, as always. Amanda, good to see you. Very interesting statement, Amanda. Uh, food for thought. Russia openly pushes pro-Arab unity as a camouflage. Yeah, I am starting to raise questions about Russia really intentions, whether they intend to support Iran or not. So we'll be talking about this tomorrow. So good to see you, Amanda. Taiwan Still, Timeline Dunkley, as always. Uh, who else is here? Phil, Muhammad Mazaruddin, good to see you. I haven't seen you for a while. I hope all is well. Uh, Ken, uh, Joe, Joseph, good to see you and good evening to you as well. Shelly, good to see you. And, uh, my apologies, I have a hard time pronouncing this, uh, Sidley Katiss. So I hope I pronounce it correctly. And Karakolak and Phil, good to see you also. All right, let's get into this. Before I'll do this, I want to share something with you. An avid supporter of the channel this comment, uh, for. So here's— check this out, guys. Of course, I couldn't put all of it together, so, uh, what I wrote— I have— he wrote, and I quote, I have watched a video that you posted 2 months ago and talked about the possibility of this war between Iran and Israel. What is amazing is that everything is happening as you predicted before. So Very, very interesting, uh, to share with you this comment from one of our, uh, avid supporter for the channel. So, well, like I mentioned, I will be talking about, uh, Iran bombing Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. So what does it mean? Why is this important for us to understand? And to those who do not know, uh, Al Udeid is a major air base, uh, that's part of the US Air Force because We have Kuwait for the Army, we have Al Udeid for the Air Force. My unit, uh, uh, 1st Cav, used to rotate between Kuwait and Egypt, but that's part of the Army. Al Udeid is strictly for Air Force. So it has some other assets like the, the special ops and so forth, but for now, suffice it to say that it was for, uh, for the Air Force. So now here is the thing. When Iran bombed Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, and that was under the, uh, operation dubbed, uh, Bisharat al-Fatah. So very interesting dynamics as to why Iran picked Al Udeid, uh, base instead of, let's say, some other location in Jordan. By the way, we do have presence in Jordan, it just is not well known. Why not Bahrain? Why not Kuwait? Excuse me, why not United Arab Emirates? So why not Turkey? So it picked specifically that location. So, and of course, as I mentioned, the base, uh, which is— there's just a, an image of— this is a, a B-1B Lancer, that's a bomber there. Uh, this is another of a B-52, that's in Al Udeid, uh, base. So the reason why Iran went ahead with this, because the base houses about US military personal, and mostly from the Air Force. But the key to all this is that the base itself is considered one of the most important US military bases in the region, in the entire West Asia. It houses about, uh, it houses about 10,000 US troops. So now the Ministry of Defense in Qatar stated that they have intercepted uh, the Iranian missiles. How accurate that is, I'll let you decide for that. So I'm going to share a clip with you, uh, let me get to the clip here, then you decide. So all right, let's share the clip with you guys. To me, uh, usually when a missile is intercepted, you'll see a big fireball, right? So take a listen here, guys. It says basically the announcer saying they are circulating images from the— on, on the skies in Qatar intercepting Iranian missiles over the US military base in Qatar. They have been talking about— they hear— they have heard explosions of, uh, Axios. Yeah, over, over Doha. Axios also reported similar, uh, and that Iran now launched 6 missiles. So basically she's repeating herself by saying those are the intercepted missiles. What do you guys think? Is there any truth to this? You saw the images. And once again, to my knowledge, the way I know it, if a missile is intercepted, it will create a major fireball. That is not what I saw. What do you think? Was truly the Qatari air defenses intercepted these missiles? I mean, if I am to think the Israelis couldn't intercept that, but yet the Qataris could— I'm not judging here, I just wanted to put this before you guys. What do you guys think? Did Qatar intercept the 6 missiles that Iran launched? Arlene, you say no. Uh, Marco W, say, uh, with no idea, interference looks like the bombs is on the way. Uh, you got a good point there. So, and, and again, the way I— YT, you say no, because it becomes clear we are not a nuclear physicist here to understand all this, but Common sense would suggest that if a missile is coming and it gets intercepted, of course that's going to be a major fireball. But suffice it to say, the focus is not on, on that particular aspect, but rather as to how Iran went ahead and followed through with its promise to target US military bases, in addition to having a plan regarding the Daymuna nuclear reactor. And I did a video for you about that one. Now for this one, the Daymona, nothing happened yet. I will not rule that option out for only one condition, and that condition is if it became clear to the Iranian authorities that if attacking Daymona nuclear reactor is going to release, uh, some sort of radiation, then they might refrain from doing that. I don't see them going suicidal like that. The Iranian regime is pragmatic after all. So, and here is what the statements from the IRGC stated. So IRGC, the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps. So they stated that, emphasized that Al Ubaid was chosen, meaning the base, uh, was chosen for its strategic importance as a US military hub in West Asia. And the statement quoted, and I quote here word for word, it says, and I quote, 'We will not leave any attack on Iran's sovereignty and territory, territorial integrity unanswered,' end of quote. It became clear to me that— does Iran have other locations on its target list? Possibly, possibly not. For now, suffice it to say, and the way I interpret this, this is just symbolic. Nobody died. It was just symbolic that Iran saying, if we say we will do it, then we're gonna follow through. So, and this is the same argument that I, uh, that I've made before. I'm gonna share the screen with you here just to show you something that is not reported, uh, openly per se. So take a look at this, and I'm going to show you a picture right here. So, so what you're looking at, you're looking at the rockets trail that are seen in the skies above the Israeli coastal city. And Netanyahu aimed a fresh barrage of the Iranian missile attacks. So of course Israel, as I said, putting a lid on that information. The US, of course, is not going to disclose whatever, because if the Israelis told them not to, they want— they're not going to do it. But once again, if we are to think about Al Udeid Air Base, it's this— how symbolic this is. The fact that Iran went ahead, first of all, followed through with its promise to target US bases, and second, it appears to its domestic consumption that for Iranian people, the Iranian government is doing what is expected of it to do. So, so, and of course, with this now begs us the question of what lies ahead. What should we expect? Excuse me. There is one particular aspect, is that the US On June 5th, and I got some images of satellites right here. Excuse me, it looks like I'm coming under the weather here a little bit. What it looks like is that the US went ahead and evacuated, uh, about 40 fighter jets. Yeah, 40 aircraft, they relocated that. They did that because in an anticipation, knowing that Iran is going to follow through. So the US wasn't willing to take any chance. And this is what the US now is finding that surprising to its— it just, it got surprised by the Iranian response because the assumption was when we flew the bombers, and usually, uh, the US bombers, uh, that's why they are not in any base around the world. Those will fly from the US, conduct their missions, and fly back home. They can stay in the air for about 37 hours or so, so mid-air fueling and so forth. My point is, even though at a date base, and I am aware of this, that it can handle the landing of the B-2 bombers. But the US will not take a chance because that's not only an expensive plane, a $2 billion plane, but also the sensitivity of its equipment. So if any country gets its hand on this plane, if it's shut down, it's game over. So this is the reason, just FYI, why we have not based any bombers like this one, the B-2 Spirits, overseas. So, so the idea that the US went ahead and removed all those particular aircraft, 40 of them, and again in an anticipation that Iran will respond to this one— and this is once again, I, I, I, I, I keep going back to the argument of what that Qatari Minister of Defense said when he said that, oh, our defenses intercepted the missile attack targeting al-Ubayd, adding that thanks to God, uh, the vigilance of the armed forces, uh, and the precautionary measures, the incident did not result in any death or injuries, end of quote. Well, first of all, what God has to do with all this, it's beyond me. Second thing, Iran's objective was not about targeting civilians. It was mainly symbolic that we will be able to reach your bases anywhere in the region. That is the loud and clear message Iran was sending. The US didn't count on Iran to move forward with this. However, it did not want to take any chance. That's why they went ahead and removed the, uh, the, the fighter jets from Al Udeid Air Base. So what I found very interesting also is that the Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack on Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian, uh, by the IRGC, stating that the attack, was some sort of like a flagrant violation of Qatar's sovereignty, airspace, and international law. Well, if the Mr. Foreign Minister is saying this, how come he couldn't say the same thing about the US doing this against Iran, a Muslim country? Because he refused to say the same about the United States. And that tells you the story right there. Most of the Arab countries, especially in the region— you all saw that, uh, uh, uh, posting I did on, uh, on the community where you have the Syrian, uh, uh, terrorist guy, uh, Zulani and MBS shaking hands while Donald Trump is standing looking at. So they all are servants of the American Israeli partnership. This is why we shouldn't be any surprises into all this. So I find it very hypocritical of this Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs or any other leader in the Arab world to be saying this but not saying the same about what the United States did, because we violated international law, we violated the sovereignty of Iran airspace And we violated the Geneva Convention. And what made it even worse is that US is a nuclear-armed country targeting a non-nuclear, which is, by the way, a part of the Geneva Convention as well. So, so now Qatar is saying, which by the way, this is just for consumption, they're not going to do squat. No Arab country can move against Iran. Mike, my word on this. If Iran back then, when I remember, uh, when I was traveling to Saudi Arabia, I know it was the tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia and so forth. And I made the argument, I remember during the meeting, and I was like, do you guys realize that Iran will take over Saudi Arabia in a matter of a week and a half to 2 weeks? Saudis will stand no chance. And, and, and, and later on, the years proved me right, that when The Saudis went into Yemen thinking they could defeat the Houthis. They couldn't, despite 6, I think 6 other Arab countries joined Saudi Arabia into that coalition, and they couldn't defeat the Houthis. So, and that was basically my argument that, you know, Iran, no other country in the region besides to a degree Turkey, give or take. But even the Turks, you, you just don't know where they stand. That, that just one day they're here and the next day they are there. So, and that's why when Qatar is saying, we reserve the rights to respond directly in a manner proportional to the nature and extent of the blatant attack and in accordance with international law, all this is nothing but a consumption of ink. No more, no less. This is for domestic consumption, to tell the Qatari people, because people are panicking. Remember when Iran launched the stuff, the sirens were, were sounding in Bahrain, in Kuwait, in some other regions, some other locations in the region. They don't know what it means because the next day, the next day, the Iranian president, Raisi, made a phone call to Qatar and the talks And his argument was, listen, don't take this personally. It wasn't against Qatar. And I don't see any reason Iran will attack Qatar. They won't. But they will attack the US base on their territory. Because if Qatar is allowing 10,000 US troops, that tells you there is no sovereignty. No different than what we have in Germany, than what we have in Japan, than what we have in South Korea and what we have in the Philippines and soon to be Australia. And this is why, and, and, and as I said, Qatar or any other country stands no chance with that. So, and at the same time, all this on their Israeli home front, what they have detected during the same time is that Iran launched about 5 consecutive waves of Iranian missiles from northern Israel to its south, basically covering the entire country. So this— because the estimation that the Israelis put out was about 15 missiles. Were launched during the attack. And that, it tells you right there where the story is for what the media is saying versus what the facts on the ground are. And that's my purpose for why I am doing this series for you. Each time I'll address one particular topic to keep you, first of all, informed. You have accurate information to the best of my abilities. And second, to allow you the opportunity for you to form your own conclusion. Liking this video so far? Don't just be a watcher. Now, uh, we need to at least some basic information about Al Ubaid. A lot of people do not know. So, or of course, it's in Qatar. And Qatar, what is Qatar famous for? Does anybody know, guys? When, when you mention Qatar, what comes to your mind right away? And again, I just want you to be part of the conversation, guys. I know there is a delay here, so yeah, when we mention Qatar, what comes to your mind right away? Uh, Central Command, uh, Camp 35. You got a point there. I'm looking at something, uh, something else, but you got a point there because the base in itself is part of the Central Command. So Middle East, that is correct. Uh, Maluk, that is correct. Think about energy. Think about energy. The Thani family, that is correct, which been controlling the, uh, uh, controlling the, the country forever. It's close to Iran, that is correct. Energy, think energy, natural gas. Good to see you, by the way, and thank you for your support. You're absolutely correct, Ramzi. When you think about gas and oil, but mainly gas. Qatar is a major gas producer. When I do the video for you about— I still, because I gave you my word that I will do it regarding the shutting down of the Strait of Hormuz— this is one of the area I'm gonna be focusing on. So, so when you think about the gas-rich Qatar, which lies about 120 miles south of Iran across the Gulf So let me share a map with you, uh, if I could. I think I get a picture of it. Let me see here. Right there. Yeah, so across the Gulf, and is home, as I mentioned earlier, to the US largest military base in the region, Al Udeid. So now the 60-acre base is in the desert outside the capital Doha. And this base, it's not new. It was set up back in 1996 as a forward headquarters for the Central Command. So, and basically Central Command is the one that directs US military operations in huge swaths of territory stretching from Egypt all the way to the west of Kazakhstan in the east. So, so when you look at the map there, guys, go all the way from Egypt all the way to Kazakhstan, the west side of Kazakhstan. That is why it's important to understand the importance of this base. And this is why you have to think about the message that Iran was sending, a symbolic one. And again, if they wanted to destroy Qatar, they would have hit Doha. They're not going to do that. Iranians are pragmatics, despite what you're hearing. What became evident now, and I am convinced about this one, what became evident, guys, is that the US and Israel didn't, didn't expect the response of Iran. Yes, there have been some destruction inside Iran, but in comparison to what Iran could achieve on the international stage by launching those far outweigh what's taking place because buildings can be rebuilt. Of course, there were some death, you know, any, any life cannot be overlooked. The safety of every civilian doesn't matter who. So, but the idea is that Iran moved forward in this manner. And this leads me to start to think in terms, are we looking just at the beginning here? It's because it's not over yet. And this is the reason why I am starting to be convinced that what Donald Trump is doing by announcing this ceasefire is because the pressure he's been having from Israel, because Israel wanted to end the exchange of missiles with Iran because Iran is pounding Israel heavily. As I told you, I know someone in Tel Aviv. I have not heard back from him. It's been a few days. I hope he's okay. And again, anytime you think about civilians, you put that aside and leave the government and civilians separate. So, but my point in all this is that with this moving forward, both Israel and the United States are now thinking in terms of how can we contain this. And this is why I use the term, is it a Trump's war now? Same argument we could make about what Bush did back then. And I think I still have his picture here. Yeah, same argument. You all remember when he stood on the deck of the Missouri, I believe, and that banner that says mission accomplished? What mission? And we will— could be saying the same thing about Afghanistan. What mission was accomplished in Afghanistan? We could see the same about Somalia. What was accomplished in Somalia? And this will be no different with Iran. Where the challenge that I see personally is that how Iran is going to have to manage its relations with other Muslim countries. Because if Iran attacks another Muslim country, that's exactly what the United States wants. So they're gonna be in a delicate position trying to balance out because we have bases. When you look at the US locations in West Asia, so look at the map here, we have places, we have bases in in, uh, in United Arab Emirates, in Bahrain, in Kuwait, in Iraq, in Syria, in Jordan, in of course Egypt. So, and Oman to a degree. I know our Oman presence is very, very, very small. And of course Turkey, you have to add Turkey to the mix into all this. So, and this is where you're going to have to think in terms what could be the Iranians thinking moving forward, that now they sent the message to the Americans. Because now the US, what is the US going to do? Retaliate? We all know what it means. If the US retaliates, Iran is going to retaliate even further. But Iran will have better options than the US because Iran will be able to target not just US military bases, but also pound Israel, which this a whole saga is about Israel. So, so whatever way we look at it, Iran, in my opinion— and please guys, correct me if I'm wrong— Iran has the upper hand to a degree. It's limited. And why I'm saying limited is because I am also watching the behavior of certain so-called allies, the likes of Russia and the likes of China. China has already expressed publicly its support for Iran. Russia has been talking, and, and you will expect more from Russia than you expect from China. Why? Because Russia and Iran has more relationship than Russia— than Iran and China. But so far China, uh, Russia— I'm sorry, Russia is taking a step back. So it's almost like when it matters, you can count on the Russians. And I'm just thinking out loud there, I'm not saying that's what it is, because the Russians also will have to think about their own strategic interests. Russia cannot afford to get involved in another conflict. Let alone against the US. But also if Russia is thinking in terms, you know what, I have to please the Jew, the Russian Jews in Moscow, there are some members in the Kremlin and so forth. And I have to please the Americans. So it won't matter if I drop or undermine the Iranians. Iranians are not going to forget this. But also you have to understand, I wrote books on each, uh, one book on Russia and one book on Iran, and in both books I addressed the old history that existed between Iran and Russia back then. Iranians never forgot what the Russians have done, and of course the Russians never forget also. Because what am I getting at here is that Are we seeing a pattern here? Because Russia did the same with Armenia when it dropped Armenia, didn't support it. Are we seeing the same with Iran? And if it is the case, Iran needs to have a plan B in place. Should it count more on the Chinese than it does on the Russians? What do you guys think? Should Iran count more on China than Russia? Yes or no? Let me see in the chat box, guys, if you could please share your answer. In your opinion, should Iran count more on China instead of Russia? And we are just thinking out loud here, guys. I'm not saying that's what Russia is doing for now, except that I am starting to see the writing on the wall, you know. And as geopolitical analyst, I have to think far ahead. I have to think far ahead. So, Alistair, you say yes. Santan, you say yes. Uh, Shelly, you say China. Uncle Sam, you say China is a coward. Why is that? And, and guys, don't, don't, don't get, uh, you know, Uncle Sam is just expressing opinion. We are here to exchange ideas. We're not gonna lash out on all It's just when you put an idea, you have to have to back it up with substance, evidence per se. So, so it will be interesting, Uncle Sam, if you can share with us why, in your opinion, China is a coward. So, uh, let me continue. Uh, DW, uh, you put China will never abandon Iran, they will provide non-military aid. A good point, but at the same time, what does Iran need at this moment? So, uh, okay, I saw this comment here, uh, the, the, the— I mean, Iran does not need support. Uh, okay, uh, I, I wish you can elaborate more just to understand where you're coming from regarding that statement because It's, uh, it's, it's to me as an observer, it became clear to me that Iran will need more support. So, uh, uh, V, you say count on both. Okay, as you say no, you can't count on the Russians. Uh, Taiwan still, you said the PRC, the People's Republic of China. Myra Page, you say yes, meaning you count on China. So Uh, Alice Talokin, China via Pakistan. Arlen Chamber, you say no. Uh, no, uh, not Miko. You say Iran should not sell China and, uh, oil until they help. Uh, I don't think so. They can do that. The reason being because they enter into a contract. You can't just, uh, change the horses in the middle of the race. That when you sign a contract Iran has another contract with China of about 25 years, you know. Qatar has a contract with China for about 20, I think 20 years or 25 years, don't quote me on this, regarding the delivery of gas. They can't change the horses in the middle of the race. So, so, but suffice it to say, it's worth elaborating and thinking about the possibility. What if the one I'm seeing right now is that I am seeing the Russians are dragging their feet. For what reason? I don't know yet. Could it be that the Americans reached out to the Russians behind closed doors? And they have always been a sort of channels behind closed doors between the US and Russia. No matter what, what you hear, there was always channels. That's, that's a fact. So could it be that the Americans asked the Russians not to provide lethal weapons to Iran? So because they know that Iran, if it gets its hands on those, it's going to launch against the Israelis. And the problem now, the more of this, the more the Israelis will be attacked. That is one of the the challenges that lies ahead. So, but regarding Iran and Russia, for that matter, uh, the Russians have not, uh, they have not delivered, uh, it was an agreement between Iran and Russia, to my knowledge, and that includes the S-400 missile system and certain advanced air defenses. So Russia has not delivered those yet. They delivered only one aspect, and that included the S-300 missile systems, but they still have some— I think the, uh, certain aircraft have not been delivered yet. So it could happen soon, it could not happen, I don't know. So suffice it to say, uh, for now I am putting a question mark on, on Russia's statements regarding, its support, uh, because the Russians came forward and disclosed that they will be willing to mediate between the US and Iran. Well, mediate for what? It's because it will be a stupid mistake, and I'll say it, uh, on a record here, it will be the stupid mistakes of Iran if ever trusting the Americans to ever sit down at the negotiating table. Because now it becomes on the Iranians. Like, like the saying we have: fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice or three times, shame on me. So the only course of action that I see moving forward is that if Iran made, makes a decision to withdraw from the NPT, you know, in that case you're looking at a different trajectory altogether. The question that will remain is whether Russia will support having a nuclear Iran or not. And that's remained very vague. Russia is not very— it's vague about this answer. If you ask Russia directly, they won't give you a clear answer. They are on and off on this one. So it, it will remain to be seen how they're gonna move forward with this one. All right guys, that's all I have to share with you on this one here. Let me say thank you to our supporter, and here it is. I'm gonna start with this before I miss it again. Kevin Baptist, thank you so much for your support and your Super Sticker. I can't believe we missed that one last time. But so I'm gonna take, uh, uh, your statement here. Dr. O, I speak for myself and the chat. Thanks for being here and providing us with objective and spot-on analysis. You are most welcome. The way I look at it, Kevin, it's, it's a responsibility. That's, that's how I look at it, you know. Yeah, I enjoy being with the community here. I'm very grateful for the support that you guys provided me. I'm very grateful for your kind words. You buy me more coffees and you support the channel through Super Stickers here in the chat. So I'm very, very grateful, and I want you all to know I don't take this for granted. I want you all to know this one. So, uh, the DTG OG, thank you so much for your Super Sticker, and happy to have you here. So, and, uh, the man, right, Chia, thank you so much for your Super Sticker. You wrote, I I think North Korea will now send weapons to Iran. You know, you know what? I will not be surprised because if the Russians either drag their feet or yet here is the other side of the argument that the Russians will talk to the North Koreans to send the weapons. It just, it won't come from the Russians. It will come from the North Koreans. That could be the Russian, uh, weapons that is sent through North Korea. I won't be surprised at all. So, so I want to say thank you all for your kind, uh, support here. And to those who wants to support the channel, uh, let me put the link for you here. Uh, if you want to support the channel by buying me coffee, I would be very grateful. I'm already— I have some of you guys that they've been supporting channel like Ramzi Abdurrahman, Army with Harmony, Francis Tango, uh, many, many of you guys, many, many of you, and I'm very, very grateful. I also want to let you know about the, uh, about the, uh, my upcoming trip to Asia. So, so let me share, uh, this one with you in the channel— in the chat box, rather. So for those who wants, to support, uh, my upcoming Asia trip right there. So, so I will be very, very grateful for your support for that. I plan on going towards the end of August, early September, and I will see where the funding is. And, and next week I think I'm gonna be providing you, uh, a link to, uh, not a link, but rather share the screen with you to show you where we are as far as the funding. And the last thing I want to share with you is the, uh, is for those who are interested in purchasing a copy of my books. I'm going to put it in a chat box for you guys there if you decide to, uh, purchase one of a copy of my books there. So, so to all of you, I say thank you as always, and remember, geopolitics impact your daily life in more ways than one. Till next time, guys. Bye-bye.
