Hello everyone and welcome to Geopolitical Trends. My name is David Oualaalou. What will the West make out of the virtual call or meeting that is, that took place between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Chinese President Xi Jinping? You know, sort of the common question we need to ask is what geopolitical impact should we expect moving forward? And all this comes as the United States is very concerned over China's alignment with Russia as the conflict in Ukraine goes on. In this video, I'm going to provide you a brief analysis about this particular topic because I'm very familiar with it, given that I wrote a book about Russia in which I disclosed this particular aspect of the Chinese-Russian relations and what will it mean for the global balance of power. But before I'll delve deeper into this, I want to wish you, of course, a happy new year, wishing you health and prosperity for many, many years to come. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Polka Dots for your— for his super sticker last time during a live stream. I didn't see it after I logged off. It showed up after. So I wanted to say thank you to you, Polka. It means a lot. And I also want to thank our new member, the channel new member, Tilman Moekeler. So thank you so much for your support. It means a lot. And to all of you, if you have not, uh, signed in for the, the, the membership, please do so if you like to support this channel. And I truly appreciate you if you subscribe and also smash that notification button so you will be notified every time I upload a new video. So let's dive in into this topic. It's fascinating, and again, it's something I'm very familiar with, uh, given again, uh, my, uh, that I wrote a book on it. So, so last Friday, which was what, on the 30th the same day I had the last, uh, livestream. So it was a video, a virtual meeting between the Russian president and the Chinese president. So, and of course, as I said, the meeting comes in a time as the US is concerned over China's alignment with Russia. What do I mean by this? Well, because Russia— because China stands its ground by not condemning Russia's military operations in Ukraine. Or war, whatever you want to call it. So, but also because the US is saying that, and I state this here from the State Department, saying that Beijing claims to be neutral, but its behavior makes clear it is still investing in close ties to Russia, end of quote. What? Duh, it doesn't. So what do— what, what does the United States expect? What does the West expect? So So because here's the thing, during that meeting, which by the way, some of its content was not made public. So this is based on what I read and what I came across. That's what's made public too. And again, I'm basing this on my own analysis based on what I wrote and research regarding both countries' relationships. So basically, President Xi during the meeting told Putin, President Putin, that is, that China is ready. And I put this in quote. Is ready to increase political cooperation. And the quote, you know, that's a subtle way of saying we should ensure that the geopolitical landscape in the 21st century moves in a different direction. And we already seen the signs moving from a unipolar into a multipolar. And that's what President Xi mentioned, because between China and Russia, you can see them as being a global partner. This is not about just bilateral, because it's like I talked about during the livestream about the gold, the importance of it. You know, you can just see that is going to be moving into that direction, and with it is going to come the Global South. So you're looking at a change into the financial— global financial structure, that is. But also you need to take this into consideration given what just happened 2 weeks ago with between Russia and China regarding the naval exercises, you know, and this to me, those naval exercises, that's those military drills that is in East China Sea because this, those exercises were the latest in a series of exercises that showcase the deepening defense ties between the 2 countries. It's exactly what I argued in the book, and except that I left one question which I'm gonna ask you at the end of this video. So make sure please to watch it till the end. So, so here's the thing, Vlad— uh, President Putin, that is, during the call with President Xi, he mentioned that the military cooperation has a special place. I can't just see why. It's again because it's gonna turn upside down the global balance of power. Can you just imagine? I mean, you're smart enough to know. Can you just imagine you put the capabilities of Russia, the capabilities of China together? Who's gonna challenge that? I mean, let's just face it, it's reality. So, uh, Vladimir Putin, or President Putin, that is, also said that the, uh, Russia is aimed at strengthening the cooperation between the armed forces of Russia and China. China. Once again, you put this in perspective. As I always say, guys, you look at the trends. What am I referring to here? You're gonna have to think about in terms of what are the threatening, uh, crisis in, in 2023 that could push Russia and China to closer military ties, you know. And I'll give you just a few examples, and I'm not gonna detail any of them. You look at, for example, the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the European continent. So you take, for example, the tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, which have sort of, uh, eased recently, but because there's that potential of Belgrade support for Serb minorities in the Western Balkans. And we all remember what happened during when NATO gets involved in Yugoslavia. And so we don't want to have that outcome. You look at another crisis, for example, between Israel and Iran. Well, Benjamin Netanyahu just now formed a new coalition government. So, and the first statement was that one of his defense ministers, I guess, mentioned that we will— we Israel, in this case— we will attack Iran, which is nonsense. Once again, I argued this in my Iran book. A volatile state running the nuclear age. And I put a section about the scenario of what if Israel attack Iran, which will be a big mistake because what's gonna happen is this. Iran will shower Tel Aviv with missiles. You know, I'll tell you this straightforward because Iran has medium and long-range missiles within range of Tel Aviv. You know, I'm sure the Israeli government will have to think twice before saying something like that. Then there is another crisis you have to think about, you know, and what is that? Is the tensions between Russia and Japan over the control of the Southern Kuril Islands. They're also known as the Northern Territories. So, and one more crisis that you're gonna have to keep in mind, it has to do with North Korea, with its missile tests and the tensions growing with the South and the US for that matter. You know, as to the Himalayan tensions between China and India, I don't see that escalating anytime soon. As a matter of fact, if it were up to me to advise both governments, I will urge them to sit down and resolve that issue once for all because they can't leave that going on. So here's the interesting thing about this particular virtual meeting between the Russian president and the Chinese president. The Russian president Vladimir Putin invited President Xi to come to Russia for an official visit. And he said, and I quote, let me get you guys the quote here. I have no doubt that we will find an opportunity to meet with you in person. We are waiting for you, dear Mr. Chairman, dear friend, We are waiting for you to come next spring with a state visit to Moscow, end of quote. The message is right there, you guys. And again, you're smart enough to, you know, doesn't take genius to figure this out. You can look at the strength of the relationship, bilateral relationship between Russia and China, given the changes on the global landscape. No, because here's the thing, in my opinion, the visit will demonstrate— the visit by President Xi to Russia in spring. And by the way, I'm going to keep an eye on it. And again, as I said, it's topic I'm very familiar with, and I'm going to provide you, of course, a brief analysis about it when that time comes. So, but here's the thing, the visit will demonstrate to the world the strength of the Russian-Chinese ties not only on, uh, on key issues but also on regional, on security, on financial and economics. So, and this also comes on the heels of the main political events of the year. Now you can just see where this is headed. So President Putin discussed, of course, the bilateral, bilateral relations, of course, the regional problems including those near Russia and China borders, you know. And again, as I said, this was not made public to— as far as the, the details of the, uh, conversation, these are just brief headlights of it, or headlines rather. But here is one thing that I, I am certain took place into the conversation between the two leaders, and this one has to do with 2 main things. One of them is Japan increasing its military budget, okay? And second thing has to do with the US establishment of Space Force in South Korea. My, my word on it, those 2 topics have been discussed between the president, the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Chinese president Xi Jinping. So the Russian president added that the two countries, Russia and China, would strengthen cooperation again in the military aspects of it. And right there, if you are to hear the Russian president reinforcing this point, that's really signaling that there is the possibility of moving into that direction of a military sort of ties between the two countries. And of course, this will be a reaction to the— it's logical reaction to the ongoing transformation of the geopolitical landscape on a global level. Of course, that's just common sense to me. That's how I see it. On his part, the Chinese president, President Xi, said, and I quote, in the face of difficult Far from an ambiguous international situation, we are ready to build up strategic cooperation, provide each other with opportunities for development, be global partners for the benefits of the people of our countries, and in the interest of stability throughout the world, end of quote. You can just read the message that is both China and Russia sending to the West. This is why the United States is panicking over this close rapprochement between the two. So, so here is my conclusion for you, and I want to keep, keep this brief for you guys. Here's my conclusion: the possibility— and I won't say that, yeah, I'll use the term possibility— of the Russia China alliance could provide both countries the right platform on which to further their cooperation on all fronts, including the military. Yeah, that's, that's where I see it going. So there is no certainty, of course, about what the global geopolitical landscape might look like within the next decade, but with certainty However, one can conclude that the Russia-China alliance will further contribute to precipitous shift in the global order and further decline of the US share of global power. It will be, it will be fair to say the shift in the global power or balance of power has already or is already underway. That, that's where I see it going. So, so here's my question for you for today. Do you believe that Russia-China relations will establish a joint military alliance? Let me repeat this. Do you believe Russia-China— Russia and China, that is— would establish a joint military alliance? Make sure to leave me some comments. I always like to read your feedback. And as always, Remember, geopolitics impacts your daily life in more ways than one. Till next time, guys. Bye-bye.
