Uncovering the Horrifying Reality of Bakhmut: Ukraine's War Darkest Day

In this solo geopolitics commentary, David Oualaalou critiques Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent remarks about a possible withdrawal from the embattled city of Bakhmut, arguing that Zelensky’s statements are out of step with the harsh reality on the ground. Oualaalou highlights the Polish government’s pledge to transfer its MiG‑29 fleet to Kyiv, interpreting the move as a sign of Poland’s limited sovereignty and a potential trigger for direct conflict with Russia. He then delves into historical Polish claims over western Ukraine, citing past annexations and the formation of the Bandera movement, and suggests that Poland’s proposed peacekeeping mission may be a pretext for future territorial ambitions. The video also touches on NATO’s recent expansion with Finland’s accession, warning that the new eastern flank could provoke Russian missile deployments and destabilise the region. Throughout, Oualaalou frames these developments as evidence that the war is entering a more complex, possibly irreversible phase, with Bakhmut symbolising the broader strategic dead‑end for Ukraine and its Western allies.

Hello everyone and welcome to Geopolitical Trends. My name is David Oualaalou. So good to be with you as always. President comedian Zelensky hints at withdrawal from Bakhmut while on a visit to Poland. Is finally the president, the comedian Zelensky, ready for peace talks with the Russians? In this video, I'm going to provide you my assessments and place this within the context of global security. Before I do this, I'd like to extend my thanks to the channel's members and supporters and to you subscribers. And if this is your first time landing on this channel here, please make sure to subscribe and smash that notification button so you will be notified every time I upload a new video. And thank you all for your support. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, that is, said on Wednesday, just today as a matter of fact. By the time you watch this, it will be— watch this video, will be about 2 or 3 days. He said that his country forces face a very difficult situation in the eastern city of Bakhmut. Yeah, we all know what it means, you know. It's because Bakhmut is gonna fall. And this is why makes you wonder why President Comedian Z will all of a sudden go to Poland and make this announcement. So he told basically, uh, uh, during a conference, a news conference that is with the Polish President Duda, that— and I put this in quote— Ukrainian forces sometimes advance slightly in Bakhmut but we're soon forced back by Russian forces, but we're still in the city and the enemy does not control it, end of quote, which is not true. What he's saying versus what the reality on the ground, it's completely different story. So, and just by the way, to let you know where Bakhmut is, a little bit of geography here. Bakhmut is in Ukraine, eastern Donetsk region. Which is already under the Russians' control, but actually it's not under control, it's a sovereign entity or enclave, if you will. So, and the region itself is— the Donetsk, that is— is witnessing one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the conflict since Russian special military operations in Ukraine started. About 2 years ago. So, and now it's in the second year, so it's become a foregone conclusion, you know. Like I said last time, if the president, comedian Z, or the West for that matter, think that the Russians are gonna turn back the territory they gained, they are mistaken. There is no return. That's about it. So So in what appears to be sort of a reference to the idea of withdrawing from the city, President comedian Zelensky said, and I quote, "For me, the most important thing is not to lose our soldiers. And of course, if events flares up more often at some point and there is a risk that we will lose our soldiers, because of the siege. Of course, the military commanders there will make the right proportionate decisions, end of quote. Well, you can just see from the statements he is not— doesn't have a grasp or understanding of really the gravity of the situation here, you know, because he went into this without even having a background, military or otherwise, because he's been pushed into all this. You know, do you blame the guy? No, he's been pushed into it. That's why when he is talking like this, it's just nonsense. And this is why I just don't see how the Russians are going to turn back those territories that they've gained, the 4 regions on the eastern part. There is no way. No. And even during his visit, while he's still in Poland as we speak, The Polish president, his name is Andrzej Duda, announced during the press conference that Poland is ready to hand over to Kiev, and get this guys, and I put this in quote, "in the near future," its entire fleet of Soviet MiG-29 fighter jets. Yeah, even the Polish president, he just being told what to say and do, you know. And, and for him to say, we're gonna turn over to Kiev in the future, we all know what it means, you know. Even the weapons Ukraine is getting right now is useless because the Polish president explained that Warsaw, the capital of Poland, that is needs a green light, sort of permission, to hand over its fleet to Ukraine. Well, it tells you right there that Poland has no sovereignty either. It's no different than Australia, it's no different than, uh, Japan, it's no different than Canada, Germany, France. You will see, you can see, because that's what it means. If you need the permission from another country to do something, that tells me right there you got no sovereignty whatsoever. So because, because that's what it means. And this is the thing, it's because in Poland the MiG have been adapted to NATO standards per se, particularly with regard to communication. But who's going to be flying those planes? Ukrainians are not trained for that. And even if they are, there's a limited number. So that means either Polish will have to fly it, or to fly those jets, or someone else. Well, whomever that might be will be part of the conflict, which means declaring war on Russia, and Russia will respond appropriately. That's how I see it moving forward. So, and by the way, guys, if you like the content of this video, make sure to hit the like button and subscribe if you have not done so. And thank you. But here is the thing that most Western media do not disclose to people to understand, you know, what is the historical significance of western part of Ukraine to Poland? No, because here is the thing, and I'm gonna provide you some info here that I didn't come across it here in the West. You know, I have my own sources. And I know where to look for information overseas. So here's the thing. Few months ago, the Polish government established contact. And guess with whom they established contact? With Ukrainian opposition leaders. And the purpose of it was to propose the deployment of a peacekeeping force in the west of the country. They didn't say the deployment of peacekeeping around the country, in the western part of Ukraine. And the proposal is not without ulterior motives. Yeah, because here's the thing. During the inner war period, Poland— when I say inner war, I'm referring to a few decades back. Poland has occupied Western Ukraine to protect, to protect it from what they called at the time Bolshevism, you know. So Poland then annexed these territories in Western Ukraine in an agreement with the Soviet Union back then, the USSR. So, so this is the historical Snapshot that the Western media is not disclosing. It was during the Poland's occupation of Western Ukraine that the Banderites were formed, because in 1934, Stepan Bandera organized on behalf of the German Gestapo, of which he was already a member, the assassination of the Polish Interior Minister Bronisław Przeriadek, you know, who had this, this former Minister of Interior who cracked down on the Ukrainian terrorists on the basis of collective responsibility. So if we are to take the historical facts of this and historical claim of Poland for Western Ukraine. Poland initiative by having this peacekeeping mission, it wasn't about peacekeeping, it's about ensuring that since Ukraine might not be back to what it was, a Russian is going to take the eastern part and Poland will take the western part, which means Ukraine will become just a lock, a landlocked right there. Poland initiative opens up the door for other countries with similar historical claims like Hungary and Romania, yeah, to lay claims on other parts of Ukraine because that's what it was historically. That is what's not been reported in the Western media here. So here is my brief conclusion for you because I like to keep these videos short, concise, and to the point. The situation is now more complex than ever before, given how NATO just yesterday admitted its 31st member, Finland, to the alliance, you know. And of course, by joining NATO, Finland now dug a hole for itself. Because here is what's gonna happen. Russia is gonna move its short and medium-range missiles. I won't even be surprised that the Russians might move some tactical weapons on the border because Finland and Russia shares a long border, 2,600 miles. So makes you just wonder what was the Prime Minister Sanna Maren was thinking. She's too young, she's too naive to understand what geopolitics is all about. Now it sort of dragged Finland into some security instability for decades to come, because that's what's going to be happening. So, and I'm even thinking, by the way, guys, to make some livestream discussion about this topic. Let me know your thoughts and let me know your questions on this. And if you like further discussions on it, we'll, uh, we'll expand on it during a live stream. So, and, and, and I'll do it this coming weekend here. So, well, as always, guys, remember, geopolitics impacts your daily life in more ways than one. Till next time, guys. Bye-bye.
