Den Lennie's Video Production Operating System

Den Lennie walks through a video production onboarding system that requires 50% upfront, stops work until invoices are paid, and keeps money separate from creative decisions. Systemizing the non-creative stuff signals professionalism, prevents tasks from falling through, and makes the business more profitable.

We're here with Den Lenny from Video Business Accelerator. He's one of our featured speakers at the Business System Summit. And then I've got two very quick questions for you. The first one, can you just tell us a little bit about the system that you're going to be sharing as part of the summit and, and the problems that it looks to solve for business owners?
Absolutely. So the system I'm going to be sharing is how to onboard clients consistently the point where the sale is made in a video production company before production starts, that critical step where we set expectations for the client upfront, we ensure we've been paid 50% upfront and no creative work happens until that invoice is received. We've got some really cool processes to make that seamless and effortless and maintain that distance between you, the creative and the client and the financial side of things so you can focus on building the film that the client wants and not getting too caught up in the financial stuff.
And I know we've just finished recording that session and you've gone incredibly deep into an area that's not very well explained or known by a lot of videographers. So they're going to love it. The second question I did want to ask you was why do you think systems and processes are so important in video production?
It's a great question. And the reason that systems and processes are so important for video production is because we actually build films in a very systematic way. But what happens is we get confused into thinking that creativity can't be systemized. And to some degree there's some truth in that. But all of the processes around that absolutely can be systemized. And the main reason for systemizing is to create consistency and give the client certainty that you're a professional outfit, does things the same way each time, but more than that is that you become more profitable because you don't drop the ball. It's as simple as that.
And I think the system that you ended up sharing just before will almost instantly and guaranteed to improve, improve that profitability for a video production business. So make sure you head over to thebusinesssystems summit.com and check out Den's session.
Thanks again, Den, Welcome. Thank you.
