David Jenyns walks through documenting processes: find the person who does it best, pick your capture tool (Loom for screen work, GoPro for field jobs), record them doing it, then extract the steps into a system. He uses studio setup and roofing jobs as examples.

Here's how you make a system and it starts off with identify the result that you're looking to deliver. Figure out who on your team knows how to do it. Then it's determine the best method of capture. Some things are going to be live in the field. Like you know when we set up a studio I had Max follow Adrian around and video recorded him setting up the studio. So sometimes loom works, sometimes you might use live video. Depends on what what it is. I did some work with a plumber actually they cleaned roofs and they sent someone out in the field to record the interaction for setting up equipment and what they said to clients and things like that. He wore a GoPro and then recorded the person doing it. So figure out best method of capture. Record the task being complete, upload it for easy sharing and then create the system and then it goes through basically watching the video how to pull out the main steps.
