Short excerpt from a YouTube video in which a speaker (identified as Speaker A) describes how CEO/leader blind spots emerge when leaders rely only on formal reports and presentations. The speaker recommends informal, in-person conversations ("walking around the office" and talking to team members) to surface important information that might not appear in documents, improving decision-making and opportunity-spotting.

I think it really starts with our strategic goals, with our priorities, and then really understanding how everything we're doing across the business ladders up to that, but then also acknowledging that as a leader, especially as the company grows, you end up getting a lot of blind spots because oftentimes you're only getting information that's presented to you. Right. It's in a document or a presentation. And so what I've really tried to do, and it was very difficult during the pandemic, it's much easier now is to just walk around our offices and talk to people because you learn unbelievable things that maybe would never make it into the presentation but are critically important to the business. And so that that sort of more informal style of connecting with our team and hearing about what they're working on and understanding where the opportunities are is really important to triangulating the information that I receive to make sure that we are making the right decisions.
