David Jenyns says your best business mentors are often right in your community: shop owners and local businesspeople who know how to cut costs and boost sales. He frames life as moving through mentors, eventually reaching reverse mentoring where you teach them what you've learned.
Chapters
Everybody's always looking for these big, huge mentors. When there's mentors next to you every single day in the hood, if there's somebody who's had a store or anything for the last 10, 20 years, they understand the fundamentals of business. They understand you either have to decrease costs or increase sales. They went through economic competitions, they went through taxes and changes. Those people, they have the fundamentals, and you can learn all the basics. Life is a series of mentors, then you go to another one. Then hopefully you get so far in life that you can reverse mentor the ones who've been mentoring you because you're bringing today's way of business to them.
