SYSTEMology Case Study With Peter Ziggy

Peter from 3Ps, a financial wellness company, was drowning in repetitive tasks and inconsistent service delivery. SYSTEMology gave him a plan to build systems that work without him, with a goal to step back from day-to-day work within 12 months.

Hey, it's Dave here from System Hub and also the Systemology course. And I'm extremely honored to be having one of our first participants through the group, Ziggy, on the call. He's from 3Ps. I'll get him to introduce himself and tell him a little bit more. But I thought sometimes it's hard to decide if a program is going to be right for you. So it's good to hear someone who's already gone through the program some of the challenges they might have had and what their experience was. So, firstly, Zigi, I'd just like to welcome you to the call and wondered if you might be able to tell us a little bit about your business and what you do.
Yeah, thanks, David. So three P's. So three P stands for the fact that we have a passion for people to prosper in all areas of their life. And there's three areas. There's finances, relationships, and healthy living. So at the moment, we're focusing on finances because as an accountant and financial planner, that's my background, and eventually we'll gear up the business to be able to provide the services in those other areas. One of the things that always just concerned me was there's a lot of repetition that goes on, and how do we capture that repetition so that we can minimise the amount of time that's spent onboarding employees, for starters. But two, and I think more importantly is just ensuring that there's a consistent high quality of service delivery to the customer, to the client. And that's been my biggest concern as we grow, and we've been growing dramatically, is. Is maintaining that. And so over the last 12 months, I've seen a little bit of slippage, and it just does my head in, you know, because I just, oh, I feel awful. I take it personally. And so that was a real issue for me and for 3P. And that's why the systemology caused for me when, you know, when it came up and information was like, aha, okay, well, this is going to. This is going to. It's given me hope. It's given me hope to be able to put things in place.
Were there any sort of reservations or anything like that that you might have had prior to going ahead with the Systemology course? Or was it kind of like, hey, this is what I need right now?
No, not really. I mean, no reservations. When I first saw it on the webinar and saw, I was like, I'm signing up. And I think before you even finished on the webinar, I'm on my other screen, you know, signing up and making the payment and off we go. So it just. It got me excited, it gave me hope, and I was away. David it really hit a problem that we had and to some degree still have because we're working through it, but it really hit a nerve.
Yeah. And how has the course been like? It's been a good few months now. We've been working together, we've got a nice group and we're catching up every week and going through everybody's issues and getting to see the challenges that other people are having as they're going through systemizing their business and love to know what that experience is like. And even some of the takeaways that you might have picked up going through the program.
Yeah, look, I guess, I mean, being in a group has been very important for me because one of the things that you sort of know but it gets confirmed and that is that everyone's in the same boat. Not everyone has got it right and in fact most people don't. And so you sort of find that we've all got the same frustrations. We're all busy and therefore all trying to make a difference in our businesses and get this whole systemology thing in place. So being part of the group, I think having it weekly encouraged me to just keep going. And I really learned a lot off the others hearing the questions, because there was a lot of questions and issues that sometimes were raised which I hadn't encountered, but they came up for me in either the week or two afterwards. And so being able to go back to the recordings, being in a group where all the emails were shared was just so valuable. I've gone back a number of times to some of the emails. I've done a couple of recordings again and gone back and made some notes. So that's been really key. I think the group aspect and sharing has been really, really important. Even though everyone in there is from a different industry and different stages really in business, from startups to. To existing. And one of the things that you've always said is it applies to everyone, but you also have a lot of insight into the problems that we're dealing with because it's obviously stuff that you've gone through and so the problems that you've had in business and so you're a little ways down the track and we can learn off that. So I think those. The two big takeaways for me was just the group interaction, the encouragement, the support and. And also the fact that you were just so insightful. Into the problems that we were having and almost bringing up things that we hadn't come up with at all in terms of queries or some problems.
Yeah. And it's one of those things where we tried to give you the framework, something that you can draw on and keep going back to and really as a way to grow your business systematically and give you something to work from. So I think, I mean scooting, I don't know, a little bit further down the track mentally I'd love to know how this has impacted the business or the direction that you're heading, if it has had an impact and then I think probably to close mindful of that impact, what you might say to someone if they're thinking about joining the program or working with a systemologist, having kind of taken that step and experienced it for yourself.
Yeah, yeah, look, probably two takeaways. One is whilst I always knew that we've got a business and I wanted to continue to build in a business and we always talk about working on the business and not in it. Unfortunately in financial planning and even accounting and tax you get just dragged back out like the mafia, they just drag you back in to the day to day workings and therefore it's hard to sort of remain sort of focused at that strategic level. So for me it's focused me so much back on that business and you know, you asked the question, I think it was very early on, you know, if you had to leave for three months, could the business survive? And my answer was no. And therefore all I had was, you know, I was self employed as opposed to, you know, having a business. So for me the hope that it's given me systemology program has given me, and I look forward to, you know, planning it out even further is it's given me hope to know that we're going to be able to run it as a business but also being able to structure it properly and the things to sort of work out the different business departments and who's head of what and who's doing what, that's been a real eye opener for me. So that's been a big one and I guess for someone who's considering, you know, if you've got, if you've got this problem, I think, you know, if you're, if you can't leave the business and you want to build it on the business and you want to work on the business, all those sorts of things and I think this, this is going to fit right in. You know, as I said it just gives you, I've just got now have clarity around what I'm doing, clarity around building of the business. And I'm a lot more strategic than I was. So someone considering.
Yeah.
To me it's a no brainer. But then again, I'm biased because I'm.
Doing it too good. All right. Well, thanks, Ziggy.
That's awesome.
I think we might even have to have a part two. We'll circle back around in 12 months and see how it's all gone as you really kind of implement it and start to see some of those results.
I'll be doing it from Hawaii. Yes. Now businesses are working without me. Hopefully 12 months time.
Perfect. Thanks, Ziggy.
All right, David. Cheers.
