A short YouTube talk by David Jenyns about resistance to implementing new operational systems among long-standing staff, and the usefulness of appointing a production manager to enforce processes (e.g., limiting revision rounds). The excerpt emphasizes that new hires adapt more easily while veteran employees often resist change.

Oftentimes, the resistance from implementing systems usually happens with existing staff. When you get a new staff member and that's all they've ever known, you do things this way, you have it saved in an asana that way, and that's all they've ever known. It's much easier to get them to follow the process. It's when someone's been with you for seven years and then you come up with this idea of systemising and you say, no, we've got to do it this way. That's oftentimes where you'll get resistance. And it's a good idea to then also get some sort of production manager or someone as well who can kind of guide that process through. Then Sammy gets to be the bad guy that says, oh, no, look, our process is you only get three rounds of changes and they're not kind of knocking on the editor's door trying to squeeze it through.
