In this call‑in segment, conservative commentator Dennis Prager argues that men are fundamentally animalistic and require women—and, more importantly, a moral code—to keep their predatory instincts in check. He claims that without moral constraints, men would freely assault women or men, leading to rampant murder and rape, citing historical examples such as the Soviet army’s mass rapes of German women during World War II. Prager also references the Deuteronomic law that mandates a 30‑day mourning period before a war‑captured woman can be taken as a wife, presenting it as a surprisingly humane biblical regulation. The dialogue includes a caller, Chris from Hendersonville, NC, who objects to Prager’s characterization of men as sexual predators and questions whether moral sense is innate or a mental disability. Prager responds by emphasizing the necessity of external moral codes and dismisses the notion that people are inherently good, framing his view as a solution to societal problems.

Men need women because they're animals and women help de-animalize them, not thoroughly, hopefully, but mostly. And women can easily have emotions overwhelm them and therefore think less rationally. The last caller hung up. It was clear to all of you that I wanted to continue to speak to her. Perhaps that's because I explained what I had said, and then she just didn't have any more objection. 1-800-PREGGER, 776-877-243-7776. Rather important issue. Nobody talks about it. People are afraid. As I have said very, very often, fear of the left is the greatest fear in America. People whisper to me at airports that they're conservative. Yes, they come over and they look around and then they whisper. Okay, let's go to Chris in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Hello, Chris.
Hey, Dennis, how are you, sir?
Good, thank you.
I agree with most of what you say, man, I really do, but I took a little bit of offense to when you were describing men, not as animals because we are, but physically I get that, but you said sexual predator, that sort of stung a little bit, I don't know why. Can you elaborate on that?
Yeah, without a moral code, men will grab any woman, or for that matter, if they're so inclined, any male, and have sex with them whether or not the object of their desire wants it.
I have a feeling, I mean, I feel like I wouldn't do that even without law. I feel like some people have a moral sense of review, and most people should. I think that that might be more of a mental disability or something.
Is there any— You think murder is a mental disability?
No, I guess I don't.
So do you think without any moral code, any— without any moral code, there would be a lot more murder? I think if the cops went on strike, there would be a lot more murder. You know what the first thing armies do unless they have a code? They rape.
Wow.
Well, it's a credit to you that you said wow. I always comment on that. When someone disagrees with me, I offer them coherent arguments and they listen. To your credit, my friend. That is why I have such contempt for the belief that people are basically good. It drives me crazy, actually, and it is a major source of problems in society. The people believe that. They believe it because they're around good people, so they think it came naturally. When codes break down, look at how people act. Read about the Soviet Army's rape of German women. Was it millions? I think it was millions of German women. Gang rapes, not just individual rapes. One of the reasons that I actually believe in the divine roots of the first 5 books of the Bible is the law in Deuteronomy that— this is 3,000 years ago in the late Bronze Age— the law in the 5th book of the Bible: if you go to war and you see a woman you want, You bring her home, you cannot touch her for 30 days while she mourns her family, and then after 30 days, if you want to, you can marry her. It is an astonishing— it's the most astonishing law in the Bible, in my opinion.
