In this excerpt from his YouTube commentary "The Brainwashing of the Left," Dennis Prager reflects on his personal experience of having an extended family that votes Democrat while he does not. He notes that despite economic arguments that might be expected to shift their views, they remain unchanged. Prager then shares a revelation from the past 15 years: contrary to his earlier belief that brainwashing only occurs under dictatorships, he now asserts that people can be brainwashed in free societies. He finds it especially disturbing that the comparison of Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler is widely made and tolerated, labeling this as a symptom of such brainwashing.

I don't know how many of you, if any of you, have a big extended family that is voting Democrat. Yeah, I do. Yeah. Thank God, not my wife or kids, which is by far what most matters to me. But they have not been moved by the economy, and they have not been moved by any of the things that you would think would move them. Also, the number 2 point is one of the biggest things that I have learned in the last, I don't know, 15 years. This was a shock, 'cause I really established a lot of my outlook on life earlier in life. I thought that you can only brainwash people in a dictatorship. This, it is new to me And now I realize that it is a fact. You can brainwash people in a free society. I mean, that you can say that Donald Trump is Hitler and get away with it is very, very disturbing.
