Just another metric Monday Today's metric is collection percentage. This is a pretty simple metric, but I want to look at it in two ways. I want to look at gross collections percentage and I want to look at net collections percentage. So here's the difference. With gross collections percentage, I'm just looking at of the gross production, how much am I actually collecting? What I'm taking out is our adjustments and our write offs. The reason why I like to look at this is it keeps our relationship with payers very clear on what we're leaving on the table and we might make a decision that we want to go out of network during a year. And then I like to look at our net collection percentage. This takes into account those adjustments and write offs that are expected and just helps us understand of the dollars we actually expect to collect, what percentage of those are we collecting? And as you could imagine, with our net collections percentage we want to be at 100%. So if you don't know where you are, definitely go and check out your collections percentage and see how your RCM functions are working in your practice.
