The video introduces Rebel Med Northwest, an integrative primary‑care clinic in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. Multiple clinicians – a naturopathic doctor, acupuncturist, massage therapist, nutrition‑focused practitioner, and Dr. Jessica Schull – describe the clinic’s blend of conventional services (annual exams, lab work, prescriptions) with a wide array of complementary modalities such as spinal manipulation, trigger‑point injections, acupuncture, cupping, craniosacral therapy, and fascia‑focused massage. Emphasis is placed on a holistic, patient‑centered philosophy that considers nutrition source, lifestyle, and the whole person, especially women’s health and pregnancy. The speakers repeatedly highlight a collaborative, family‑like team culture where providers support one another to help active patients recover quickly and return to the activities they love.
Chapters
The services we offer here at RebelMed are the more classic traditional medicine based services that many people are already familiar with, including annual exams, blood draws, lab testing, you know, referrals for other types of providers in the area. Our naturopathic team really serves as primary care physicians in that capacity. Prescription medicines, supplement medicines, and then beyond that, we use different physical medicine services including spinal manipulation care, trigger point injections, stretching, massage, ultrasound, kinesio taping. You know, there's a spectrum there.
I just really love what we're building. I love working with practitioners that we share a common goal and a common vision for bringing good medicine to our community. We're building a community. I enjoy coming in and yeah, working with all my best friends and then also being able to help my patients who in some ways take the form of friends, but also in a professional way. You know, I think it takes, I think it puts the heart back into medicine.
So as an acupuncturist, I have a very unique way of practicing because I like to use as many modalities as I possibly know how. I'm also a licensed massage therapist and I have a background in physical medicine. So I'm also very, very active. So I do a lot snowboarding and mountain biking and backpacking and hiking and stuff like that. So I know what it's like to be injured and I know what it's like to not be able to do the things that you love to do.
Working with women as a naturopathic doctor really means deep diving into what it means to be a female and for female empowerment as well. So that comes along with our female hormones and all of the different things that that can present us for our how that presents for our sleep, for our mood, for our stress, for our skin. There's so many different things that are interplayed with that. And it's been really wonderful as a naturopathic doctor to be able to take a step back and really address that from a bigger picture.
Hi, My name is Dr. Jessica Schull. I am a naturopathic doctor here at Reuben Northwest where I specialize in female health, specifically in and around pregnancy years. I listen, I hear the whole person and I bring a very unique, fresh ideas of what has not been done for their health.
We'll take a very kind of holistic approach as far as nutrition goes, because.
I always believe that it's not just.
What you're eating, but it's where you're getting your food from, it's how it's integrating into your life. You can't just have a meal plan or just a diet specifically if it's not going to work for you. So we need to definitely take this into consideration. And then I always like to see where people are and where they want to be. And the easiest way to get from point A to point B.
The way I practice massage is incorporating my fascia pattern alongside with the assessments that I do to understand where the source of the pain is and really targeting that and incorporating many pieces like cupping, deep tissue, neuromuscular education, craniosacral therapy, in addition to other modalities that I do and really just targeting that source. My overall goal for patients is that they are pain free, that they don't have to come to us anymore for that particular pain.
The community here at RebelMed is very welcoming. We're definitely a team environment and that's what keeps me here.
It feels honestly like a really big family here. I love how integrative it is that there's so many different providers that works with one another. Like I always tell with my patients, even though you're working with me directly, just know behind the scenes that there's a whole care team of acupuncturists, naturopathic doctors, wellness coach and nutritionists all working together for your health.
