So patients often come to me looking for an enhancement of the chin area. This can be done with one of two ways. One would be the insertion of a implant and the other would be with a sliding genioplasty. Implants are put in and I prefer to secure these to the bone using some screws. A sliding genioplasty is the second option, and that involves using a segment of bone, this lower segment here below the teeth, and bringing it forward to actually reshape the lower jaw. This is held in place with some small screws. These screws don't set off metal detectors at the airport, and patients can continue a normal lifestyle with an enhanced facial profile.
