Dr. Cory Goldberg compares full and mini tummy tucks. A full tuck tightens skin and muscle from groin to chest, while a mini only goes up to the belly button. He warns that mini tucks often disappoint patients, especially mothers, because they don't cover enough area.
Many patients come to me asking about mini tummy tuck as compared to a regular tummy tuck. Mini tummy tuck is able to achieve significantly less than a regular tummy tuck, and I'm very careful about the patients that I select for this procedure. A regular tummy tuck is able to tighten up the skin and muscle for the entire tummy area, all the way from the groin and up to the chest. A mini tummy tuck, however, is really only able to remove extra skin and tighten muscle up to the belly button and no higher. For some patients, this is appropriate, but for most women, particularly those who have had children, it's not adequate and it results in an inadequate result.
