Dr. Joshua John-Ram Schacter explains that bone marrow aspirate contains 60 times more growth factors and healing proteins than blood. He concentrates these cells differently depending on whether he's treating a tendon or joint, using them to reduce inflammation and trigger repair.

Mesenchymal stem cells also have about 60 times more of those healthy materials that we need to heal your injury. So as far as human growth factor and interleukins and all of these proteins and substances that we need to get tissue to heal and inflammation to lessen, there's 60 times more of that in bone marrow. So bone marrow aspirate is our most powerful orthobiologics treatment. What we do is basically we take the blood or bone marrow just like we did with your whole blood, and we spin it down and we isolate those cells that we want and we can tune that concentration to actually the type of tissue that we want to treat. So that if we want to treat a tendon, we use a certain type of formulation of the stem cell or platelet. And if we want to treat inside a joint, we use another type of formulation. So we can actually customize that to the location and to the patient's needs. And when we inject that stem cell, it is a powerful anti inflammatory, but it also is a very powerful healing agent.
